Footage from The Weather Channel, June 9, 1990. Features on-camera meteorologists Rich Johnson, Kam Karman, George Elliott, Jeanetta Jones, and Mike Bono.
When this aired, Mariah Carey was about to drop her debut album, “Scrabble” was dropped from the NBC daytime schedule, and I was graduating from kindergarten in two weeks.
I'm guessing around March of 1990 they started very gradually introducing new national maps with a new upper bar (some matching the weatherstar 4000 colors)
I'm noticing several instances around this time period of the STAR III abruptly showing a lone 30-day Outlook (or Almanac in one instance, IIRC) screen for 10 seconds with muted audio, right in the middle of the OCM segments. Anyone know what was going on during those times after the “Stay tuned” card where the audio goes silent and the local radar appears for a minute straight? (example: 12:50 - 13:58) Also, nice blooper at 1:40:29 - 1:41:10 :-)
Am I the only one that feels relaxed when I watch these old weather channel videos?
No.
No way, Jose.
They help me fall asleep, tbh.
All day!
You absolutely aren't! :) Welcome to the club. "Weather Channel fans you're not alone". :) 😊
I was 4 going on 5 when this aired! Started Kindergarten that September! Great times then!
The Business and Weekend Travel Forecasts are always my favorite part of Throwback Weather Channel!
Same here!
@@drummingdanny84 They were really the same thing. The Weekend Travel Forecast was just the weekend version of the Business Travel Forecast.
I remember an old commercial where a man was sitting in a chair saying hi to his dog
26:58 one of my favorite things about the old weather channel was the local forecasts.
Mine as well
Huh...never knew Kam Carman was at TWC. She was a meteorologist here in Detroit for a long time.
Yeah, she was on several years back in the late 80s and early 90s.

I remember this one 1990
Take a drink everytime Rich says “goin’ on…”
Always loved these weather and your house segments, especially Marshall Seese and the caulking segment.
And the ceiling fan with Marny Stanier.
Daniel Lewis that one and the Jeannetta Jones cheese 🧀 segment were great.
That segment seems familiar, though I thought it was called Seasonal Solutions. Did they change the name later on, or am I getting mixed up?
Seese retired from the show in 2008 .
@@TravisTev They later changed the name.

On my 12th birthday!

Just shazammed it - Earthbound (feat. Brandon Fields) by The Rippingtons & Russ Freeman!
Joe Isuzu. I remember that guy.
David Leisure is his real name. Funny dude.
Does anyone know the song at 10:00?
“Samplin’” by The Crusaders.
38:53
Sample?
I guess. Only certain areas had a radar with the 3000? Never had a radar on the 3000 where I live.
It was a later add-on for certain markets before it came standard with the 4000 I think
