This is still one of my absolute favourite Spiritbox tracks, alongside Trust Fall, Constance and Jaded, and now the new one, Perfect Soul, which is proper FIRE.
As you mentioned, it is a good introductory song to discover the band because it has a surprise factor, similar to Jinjer - Pisces. I like the newer Spiritbox songs, but I have to admit that this era is still my favorite of theirs: "Blessed Be", "Rule of Nines", "Circle with Me", "Holly Roller", "The Mara Effect", "Perennial", "The Beauty of Suffering".
That era has the benefit of time on its side because we got to fall in love with the band over them before their debut album proper. I love all those classics, but I'm also really loving the stuff they've been putting out, I just have less time with it is all!
I've been listening to Spiritbox since 2021 and this song is still a Top 5 of all their songs for me. Which says a lot, because all their songs are bangers. You get to see more of her range in this. It's also a good starter song for people that have never heard them before. Also, this video gets me every time.
I remember on a spiritbox video a long time ago I mentioned that I thought you would like their older music videos, specifically this one. Glad you enjoyed it!
Always love checking out Spiritbox. And Ashlena, I think you'll really enjoy their new song *_Perfect Soul_* especially, which features more of her gorgeous singing voice, Josh's great voice, their great harmony, and really excellent mixing that manages to let every aspect of their band shine. New album "Tsunami Sea" in March!
You should check out their recent live performance that they released of Angel Eyes. It's incredible and Courtney displays some very cool new vocal techniques that she hasn't before (afaik). It's so fucking good
I didn't realize you'd never done this reaction. This is one of my favorite songs and probably got me into Spiritbox "full time" once I heard it. Now, hopefully you have some time for all the newer drops that came out in the past few months. As for Bill being "featured" that is incorrect. While Bill played bass live for the band, he never recorded any bass on official (non-live) releases. He is, however, on the live pro-shot of The Mara Effect trilogy, and the XM live 6 song "concert" they did in December of 2020. Edit: and to add to that, it is Mike who plays bass on every studio recording... and he also plays the drums, or programs them. That's how Spiritbox has always done it. Mike writes the music and records it, and Courtney writes the lyrics and the majority of the vocal melodies (Mike also contributes to those from time to time).
There is something so special about this band and Courtney. One of my absolute favorite bands. Also loved the mention of PVRIS cause I’m so down to see you react to another of her songs! If LP had Spiritbox and PVRIS opening the same shows I would probably sell my soul to go let’s be real 😂 you’ll have to check out the songs Spiritbox have dropped so far for their upcoming album unless you plan on waiting til it’s released in March! Always great to hear your thoughts and as of course great video!
Thanks for the reaction Ashlena! Fun fact: I've first heard of and listened to spiritbox with one of your reactions. Fun fact 2: Linkin Park and Spiritbox are coming to my city (and with that I mean the city where I live obviously) at the 26th of june. And I have a VIP pit ticket with early entry 😍
@ashlenamusic You are welcome to be my guest in the Netherlands and join me for the concert. I'll buy you a VIP ticket, but you gotta book your own flight 😁 Dead serious btw
I'm not a regular on this channel, so when the "incoming dog bark" popped up I thought it was referring to Courtney's low growl in that bridge 🤣🤣🤣 Give your pup an ear scratch from me 😄
You should checkout Spiritbox's new singles "Perfect Soul" and "Soft Spine" off of their new album that's coming out in early 2025 (March? February? something like that).
Happy Thanksgiving Ashlena.I'm thankful today for the fact that you are going to get to see The Warning in Mexico City. I'm so excited for you. Life is good! ⚡⚡⚡
They were independent that time. it means they did everything themselves, paid for everything themselves. By the way, Spiritbox and Jinjer released new singles in one week back to back. Spiritbox - Perfect Soul, Jinjer - Green Serpent. I think you would love them, otherwise upset if you miss.
Such a good song. Ruger just wants to scream along too. I kinda wish I would've waited to see Linkin Park now. If I would've known they were coming back so soon and Spiritbox it would've been worth the wait.
If you're reacting to PVRIS they have changed alot over the years. Highly recommend starting from the beginning up until present! I love their earlier stuff
Here is that Spiritbox collab with Poppi at Louder Than Life festival I was telling you about in another video comment section. This is the same show where Spiritbox also collab with Tatiana on Circle With Me. ua-cam.com/video/C1UMck7le4g/v-deo.htmlsi=XHBCEgdJ5ZaX561o
He definitely could, though he didn't play bass on any studio recording. That's Mike... who also plays every instrument on every recording (and still does).

Aww blessed doggie, he was just trying to sing along.
Lil boi was ready for the breakdown!

LETS GO

You should check out the single they just dropped called Perfect Soul.
That song is very reminiscent of Blessed Be and Perennial.
Perfect Soul's chorus has been absolutely stuck in my head for days now. Josh's voice is so enjoyable for their sound 😩

Can't wait!
Live one take vocal of Rule Of Nines is a must! Also, The Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound.
The mara effect is one of the best songs ever created
+1 for *The Mara Effect at Silverside Sound* It's perfect for Ashlena, and I said the same months ago! Lets do itttttttt~
@@Trepanation21 Yes. And to be clear, the song is in 3 parts so make sure to do the whole thing through.
You should check out their recent live performance that they released of Angel Eyes. It's incredible and Courtney displays some very cool new vocal techniques that she hasn't before (afaik). It's so fucking good

I definitely need to catch up on spiritbox

Thanks for the reaction Ashlena!

OH MY GOD I AM SO JEALOUS

Courtney is gorgeous ♥️ I’m gonna see them in Berlin next year and in Italy with LP and I cannot wait for that 🤘
Awww man so jealous!!!
I'm not a regular on this channel, so when the "incoming dog bark" popped up I thought it was referring to Courtney's low growl in that bridge 🤣🤣🤣

Courtney's got that dawg in her
Hahahahahahahah 💀

I love this song and this is a great video that I just can't watch more than once or twice. I tend to watch the SiriusXM version.
If you're reacting to PVRIS they have changed alot over the years. Highly recommend starting from the beginning up until present! I love their earlier stuff
Will do 🤘🏽
I guess Ruger heard her.. 🐕loll we love him 😀
🤣🤣
Sad he died but Bill didnt write or record any bass on any Spiritbox song. he does feature on four song mara effect at silverside and its incredible.
Neither did Zev, up until recently, and even then Mike is the one that writes and records the music.
@@jhamilton1007 Mike sends Zev samples to comment and make changes. Zev has input about whats on the album.
@jsavage71 Yes, I know, but Mike is and always has been the main songwriter.
I would like to see you react to The Mara Effect pt 1. It's another great older one.
Jinjer just released a new video, too.
Her timbre is just 🤌🏽bellissimo. Though I also prefer more harsh vocals, this song is a perfect gateway to initiate new metalheads into the fold ✌🏽
Agreed!

There's no Metallica this time, so they should win the Grammy. I'm curious what song it is that they are nominated for.
Metallica is nominated also and both are nominated for the same albums as last time.
They are nominated for Cellar Door
Rip Bill. That dude could shred that bass.
He definitely could, though he didn't play bass on any studio recording. That's Mike... who also plays every instrument on every recording (and still does).
Will you be reacting to Kool-aid by Bring Me The Horizen anytime soon? Official video is fire
I’ve done the song but I haven’t watched any of their music videos yet
Dont care about spiritbox, show us your dogo))
Lmao
