- LIOS Senior Editor Kat Kalashian shares a quick guide to retiring in Belize using the country’s Qualified Retirement Program (QRP). Administered by the Belizean Tourist Board (BTB), the QRP is one of the most user-friendly retirement visa programs in the world. To qualify, you need to show proof of income of $2,000 a month, be 45 years of age or older, pass a security clearance check and a medical exam.
If you’re planning to move to Belize and want to bring your household goods along, then getting QRP status can save you a considerable amount of money. It allows you to import all of your household goods within 12 months of receiving QRP status. You can also import one car every three years under the program.
