An amazing car you have there Taylor! For being the weight it has and AWD. It's pretty good IMO. I love driving AWD and especially during the winter months here in Sweden. The grip you can get is crazy on snow roads. I had an Audi S4 1992 with an 2.2L 5-cylinder turbo engine in it. It had coilovers and a tuned ECU and K&N filter in the original intake box and also a mod that you delete a restriction in the last muffler. This is the full stage before going to do things like cylinder head work and bigger turbo. My setup where around 300hp. Just enough for me to have a lot of fun driving it. The Quattro system in Audis is just amazing from this era. I saw the night driving and you must do like a WRC light high beam setup on it. There are so great LED and Xenon options today. A setup with 3 round LED lights with the center one with going far away and the 2 sides going wide would be awesome IMO. See if you can find the cover and basicly the holder for the lights for your GTi-R. Think in a rally shop of some kind it can be find or a used one. The benefit would be that you can connect it easly and take it off as well with a quick connect setup. Other options would be to rebuild an original headlight to LED with pencil beam spread of light. Either way you keep the original look when you want to and for some fun driving at night with awesome light and just take the 3 piece extra lights setup off from the quick connect.

Hey Taylor, look up the "one bar loop" it's a common vacuum line routing trick for these cars for them to make a bar (15ish psi) of boost. I did it on mine when I had a GTI-R and it definitely woke it up a bit.
I have a couple close friends in the town I live in that own GTI-Rs and they've done 1-Bar loops in theirs and have said it makes a world of difference. they are extremely underrated/fun chassis' for sure. The RPFs look wicked on there too.

My tuner told me the key to manual boost controllers is to blow through them before you install, adjust until you can't blow through and then back it off a tiny bit. That should give you a boost increase and a base line
Love the gti-r. The t28 can make surprising power and spools so well for older tech. Unless you are going to throw a standalone one it later, you should consider one of the blow through MAF conversions with a larger diameter housing. The factory one is so restrictive.
Love a gtir. My mate is in the middle of restoring one at the minute up here in scotland rust has eaten it alive lol. For a hillbilly boost controller we use a bit of copper brake pipe flatten is off a bit and put it in the line and drill a few holes in it then test it. Do the same again till you get what boost you need lol
Build your own boost controller, when you buy them they never work properly, always had horrible luck with those. I made one with some npt fittings a hollowed out nylon plug that I tapped and a vacuum cleaner spring with a ball bearing and a bolt through the nylon plug. Set the boost with a coolant pressure tester and boom consistent boost all the time. And you can easily adjust it.
I'm guessing the reason they pulled the front strut bar off is that they tighten up the front suspension and induce understeer. Having nothing up there and a stiffer rear end will make the car more neutral or even oversteer prone. On an AWD car that's prone to understeer to begin with, this can be even more of a factor.
If you disconnect the little circlip from the end of the actuator rod were it joins the wastegate flap and adjust the rod to make it shorter this will also add boost (shorter = more boost).
There were so many of those Gtir and cefiros here in NZ during the 90s. Everyone worked them hard. Then the air flow sensors died in them so often that most people gave up
I love the car and prefer the enkei to the volks all day. You made the right choice here. Rally style motorsport rims are probably best choice on a Pulsar however, for the tarmac rally car look 👌
