It's odd, but I find I love the way a dying because harvest and fall are coming garden looks. They are rough and raggedy...and a disheveled sort of lovely. ANYway, your garden is still beautiful.
Excited for pumpkin fest ! Loved the walk and especially the sunflower ~ Reminds me of my SONshine, Paul. Also have you ever made "mater tots" ? Just cube your green tomatoes, dredge them in corn meal & bake or fry. Dip in a buttermilk ranch dressing.
I love that “SONshine”. 😊🌻 I also love the idea of Mater Tots! Thanks for sharing that. I’ve only ever sliced & fried them, but cubing seems SO MUCH more efficient.
Nasturtium leaves and flowers are absolutely delicious when stuffed with goat cheese! I have tried honey, garlic and herb, and several other flavored goat cheeses that have all been delicious! I have also used them to top salads or fancy breakfast toasts. Yum!
Ooooo the stuffed flowers sounds wonderful! Except the goat cheese part. 🤣 I love cheese, but I've only ever had one goat cheese I liked and it was of course at a wedding and I'll never know who was responsible for the deliciousness. 😭
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns 😂yeah it’s definitely a specific taste for the few…🤭 half my sisters think I’m crazy for liking it at all much less how much I love it! But im sure a herbed cream cheese or ricotta would be delicious too!
3:45 it looks like powdery mildew. Which is painfully common in wet and rainy places like the PNW.😢 unfortunately that’s the extent of my help because i cant remember the solution for that at the moment…😅
You're right. I remember my mom and I talking about that last year, or the year prior now that you mention it. I don't recall a solution either, but everything is still growing for the most part and it's almost time to wrap up gardening anyway, so I'm not going to worry about it. 😅 That's me, the hands off, neglectful gardener. 🙈
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns I recently saw a gardener talking about how she sets august first as her no longer will put in effort date. That gives her the willpower to give it her all but when August first hits she just harvests and doesn’t bother about anything else, no fall garden because she doesn’t have the energy. And I think that’s a great idea!😂
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns Yeah, me too!😂 I came by it honestly through my mother..😏 But I have dreams of someday having an English garden, Beatrix potter, Tasha Tudor like garden…
Those beautiful asters! Can’t wait for pumpkin fest.
This time of year in the garden is so satisfying on so many levels. ☺️

I’m with you! ESPECIALLY dying sunflowers. There’s just something beautifully tragic about them. 😍

I like the little flowerbed with the cosmo. What were the low lying flowers there?
Those are a mini Zinnia variety my mom found.

That’s kind of what I was imagining. 😍 Now I’m hungry. 🤤🤣

I think that may be my new gardening plan for the end of summer. Though I am already a pretty hands off/hope for the best kind of gardener. 😬
