According to the PEW report 77% of Indians are satisfied with their country's democracy, whereas most of the advanced countries people even below 50% not satisfied with their countries democracy.
What does it imply?
In india 80% are Hindus. And Modi government is favourable to Hindus. And Modi government is anti minorities . So 77% of population who are satisfied with the democracy are Hindus and rest of the population who aren't satisfied with the democracy are marginalized communities.
Majority Satisfaction:
The high satisfaction rate indeed reflect the majority Hindu population's approval of the current government and its policies. The Modi government has been popular among many Hindus due to its nationalist rhetoric and policies that resonate with this demographic.
Minority Discontent:
The lower satisfaction among the remaining population could stem from marginalized communities, including religious and social minorities, who may feel alienated or targeted by the government's policies. This discontent could be more pronounced among Muslims, Christians, and other minority groups who perceive the government's actions as unfavorable to their interests.
Political and Social Climate:
The political and social climate in India has been polarized, with significant support for Modi's leadership among Hindus and criticism from those who feel excluded or threatened by his policies. This polarization can lead to a stark divide in satisfaction levels based on religious and social lines.
Media Influence:
Media portrayal of the government and democracy can also shape public perception. In India, media coverage often supports the ruling party, which can influence public opinion and satisfaction levels.
Perception vs. Reality:
People's perceptions of democracy might be influenced by various factors such as media portrayal, personal experiences, and national narratives. In India, the narrative around being the world's largest democracy and a functioning electoral system might contribute to higher satisfaction.
A very perceptive and dispassionate analysis. In India the government hasn't apparently curbed the freedom of speech. What they have done is to subtly control the mainstream media which now merely echoes the government views. The dissenters are free to express their views but they have no platform to do it.

if the Opposition's false narrative about changing the constitution and removing reservations was the real reason they secured over 230 seats, then how could people not believe you when you claimed you would get over 400 seats?
Similarly, one could argue that if Prime Minister Modi had not falsely claimed that if Congress won, Rahul Gandhi would demolish the Ram Mandir and snatch away mangal sutras, the Congress party might have secured more seats than the BJP. Do you agree?
