Angelina did such a great job with her debut under Republic. It true Angelina fashion, She gave us something right from her heart. It's contemporary, it's catchy, but it's still pure Angelina. I think all her fans are really happy to see that Republic has given the full freedom to be herself. I think we can expect many more incredible songs like this in the coming years.

What a beautiful tribute to her grandfather. The animated paintings which I believe are by Angelina and her grandmother Mery complement it so well. I know no other singer who can throw open the door on human emotion as wide as Angelina, and draw me through it time after time.
Really is special how heartful it is.
Here's a quote from her book "Mellom to hjerter" ("Between Two Hearts") about the shoeless girl who she gave her shoes to: "It was like there were stairs from the earth to the heavens. And I climb the stairs...."I stand between the heavens and the earth I stand between two hearts.” I believe she experiences a similar feeling when she thinks about her grandpa, and hence the ladder to the heavens in the lyric video. That video and Angelina and Grandma Mery’s artwork were a stroke of pure genius. Unlike many lyric videos it really expressed Angelina’s feelings, and enhanced the viewer’s experience with this emotionally beautiful song

Well, I’ve listened and watched over, and over, and over now, and lost count. I can truly say that the Lyrics in this song are unbelievable for someone so young to have written. And they truly do come from Angelina’s heart, that’s obvious when you hear them, as does everything she sings or does. Her best original lyrics to date, bar none! Not only does it speak to Angelina’s loss, it speaks to anyone who has lost someone they love. So in addition to her fabulous soothing vocals, her words have the same soothing effect. She’s pure musical genius. The more I listen to the song, the more i love it. BTW, even Angelina feels like we do about the "old soul," as she said, "“I feel like I’ve lived many years more than my age."

I really like your reaction to this- Angelina wrote this as a tribute to her Grandpa who passed away in 2018. In the broader context I see it not just for those we have lost, but also those who are apart from us - especially during the covid-19 pandemic. My grandson is 6000 miles away- but it may as well be a million miles. When I speak to my sister in the evening we are apart but we both look at the moon and somehow connect knowing we see the same thing. This song helps us release those emotions of loss and separation- thousands of people can let go those locked in tears while listening to Angelina.
Just one more reference from the video - the final image is of Angelina (with those crazy teeth) and the blue eyed girl- from her book - Between two Hearts - she gave her shoes to her- and now has no contact, but she is still in her heart and we are reminded of it each time she performs barefoot......
It is such a heartfelt and accessible performance, the visuals match it perfectly.
I hope there is technology to ease the separation from your grandson. It helped when we had folks in other countries outside the U.S.
@@genevapriest6190 yes - we use WhatsApp- rather limiting for a three year old, I'm waiting for something that can give me a virtual hug and to be able to hold his hand - hopefully a vaccine will save the day.....
@@lesgray9533 I wish you closeness and love as best as possible with your internet connecting. It is wonderful how Angelina brings us closer somehow and releases our feelings so gently when we have loved ones so far away. Half my family is in Europe, half in the USA.
I offer my thoughts on other solutions to this pandemic:
Homeopathy has a better track record than Allopathy in epidemics... 1-3% mortality under homeopathic care versus 30% mortality under allopathic care during the Spanish Flu. Take a look at the movies: Magic Pills and One Small Drop.
My personal experience of homeopathy spans almost thirty years. It is so comforting to me to know it as well as I do and be able to use it as needed because it has been so successful in clearing al manner of troubles for me and my family and others close to me.
Extremely salty water gargled with every five minutes, using just small sips, and singing with it, for an entire hour can decimate viruses and bacteria in your throat where the command center is, especially when you catch it early. Everyone who has followed my instructions with the salt has said Wow! It worked!
I think the extreme salt water cuts the critters in half each time... so if you do the math: 1/1.... 1/2.... 1/4... 1/8... 1/16.... 1/32... 1/64 and so on. Waiting longer between gargles allows them to rebuild their troops.

to Japan. The audience was amazed how well she handled the Japanese language. In truth, her
mother and uncle (manager) were raised in Japan and speak the language fluently.

I don't think it should be a surprise that your highest viewed reaction is about Angelina because we know what a special person she is and she engages people in a very personal and emotional way - people that then look for genuine, open reactions and insights which you are very skilled at delivering. Great analysis. I also noticed that this song has a very quick "burn in" during the first listening. It grabs your soul and pulls you into it, but at the same time makes you want to listen to it over and over again. Also, she pulled out her vocal palette tool kit and added her famously textured voice (tremolo) during many notes that needed that emotion. That isn't just vibrato- it is so high of a frequency that it almost goes unnoticed except for the unconscious part of your brain picking it up. She did this with her "Someone to Love" AGT Champions stage performances as well. Simply put- beautiful!
The ending is perfect symbolism. It ends suddenly, like the lift of the dear one ended suddenly. Leaving you with wanting more. The book closes on that life. No more stories created by that person's life. It ended, and you are sad that it ended without giving you a little more.
This art is perfectly timed. A genuine and pure human connection through contemporary music seems rare in recent years.
I am in love with Angelina's heart, and this song is just one reason. My favorite singer allowing us to feel her God given talent with this beautiful song which I have requested my daughter to play at my funeral. Part of my desire to live now as long as I can has to do with Angelina and her songs to come. Beautiful reaction Caleb, I will also check out your song, thumbs up sir keep up the great work.

Thanks for your outstanding reaction. I to normally have to listen and hear a new song more than once to get its true sense and meaning. Maybe the lyric video helped but I sensed that this was a masterpiece from the beginning. The lyrics, the message, the emotion and as always her magical vocal combined delivered a song I have listened to many times and I still want to hear it again. She is one for the ages and i am so looking forward to being a paty of history in the making as her career continues to unfold.

The artwork used in the production of the animation was designed and illustrated by Angelina’s grandmother whom is a very successful painter and poet.
It’s about her grandfather who had passed recently, and she and her grandmother did the painting. There is also a live version in black and white you would like.

Hey Caleb, usually you do some background on the song you react to... but I can see why, busy with your own release... not easy. I had already seen 20 reactions to this song... and there are like 100, but I only follow certain reactors who show a definite professional take. Not being a professional myself. This song, while exploring Angelina's loss of her grandad, was dedicated to all those people who have shared a similar loss. There is a true sadness in the song and yet a powerful message of peace and joy for the memories and the love that will always connect us even when we are a "million miles apart." NOW, my reaction to your single "Your Name" - like with Angelina's new release, it seems the producers almost make the voice a background to the beat and the piano, you have a great voice and it should be the primary ingredient... you know, like Gordon Ramsey says about cooking "Know which flavor you want to highlight, if you are serving Flounder, then the sauce should not overpower the flavor of the flounder. I love the video as the setting is very appropriate to the lyrics, raging waves of love breaking on barren and harden rock that let the wave funnel through the empty spaces, crevice's of disdain that refuse to give that pain of love footing on her shore. In "Empty Spaces" I dig your falsetto... but maybe a tad too much reverb, I think if your video was in a canyon where one would normally expect to hear echoes, but in the ocean, you needed the waves to overpower your voice, not have it echo it back without a reply. I also listened to your sing "Reverse, Repeat" which I found very intriguing, especially those very deep tones that reminded me of the Dwarven song about the misty mountains in Lord of the Rings which makes me realize that you have a troubadour quality to your voice, which is different than the minstrel sound of "Empty Spaces", one is a sound of a voice hardened by long travels, torn at in battle, while the minstrel who sings in court has the more higher tones of a more protected life where love is the greatest battle faced... like the theme song from the movie Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli (1968). In "Reverse, Repeat" we are really able to hear your voice center stage, not a background singer to the music.

She wrote this shortly after her other grandpa died in Nov. 2019 (mom’s dad), she was 13. Angie & her grandma did the art for the video. Angelina said, “This song is dedicated to anyone who has lost a loved one. I wrote this song thinking about all the great memories I had with my grandpa and how much it hurts to lose someone. I hope this song finds a place in you heart, as it comes straight from mine”. Stargate producer singer/songwriter Dakota posted on her instagram regarding the collaboration with Angie, said “This girls talent is freakin insane.”

She's working with StarGate, fellow Norwegians. Sounds like they started collaborating a while back. Explains the quality production.
Like so many of her songs and covers she is always able to put a lot of emotions into them and of course this is also meant to be an emotional song and no matter how many times I listen to it, it brings tears to my eyes. I think her best original is "7th heaven", that has the jazz feel for sure and one of her last covers "My funny Valentine" really show how far she has come at 16 years old. I also hope you do some of the Adele covers like "All I ask" and "Easy on me", she does them justice and more.

That was a very interesting reaction to this incredible song Caleb.I especially enjoyed your insights about Angelina succeeding in making her sound current.Many talented artists have failed at that step sadly.I think that this highlights both Angelina's versatility and creativity.She no doubt has a hell of a team behind her also.To achieve this quality at only 14 yrs of age is unheard of.

I lost both of my grandparents in 2018 and it still hits me right in the guts that they're not here. They both shaped me so much as a person and I am forever grateful to them so this song really gets me in the "feels" every time, but I cannot hear this song enough.
It was all painted by her grandmother. By the way I liked your single a lot and it is interesting the parallels to Angelina's new song. You walking forward all the way thru add she climbs all the way thru .. the subject matter is similar. Very interesting. Congrats.

Her grandmother did the artwork for this song. Angelina wrote the song for her grandfather who recently passed. In 2020 this song is so relatable! Beautiful
It looks like this might be an isolated single (produced in L.A. by stargate) - the album is being produced in New York- we need to wait for covid to fade away for that...

There is no information about the release schedule for future songs so far. I've seen a rumor hinting an album release in january though.

I have seen some vocal coaches/artists tend to down play AJ's talent and not give her the credit/praise she deserves and in some cases omly do 1 or 2 reactions on her.... possibly because of ego. This is not the case with your reactions, i find them to be respectful, honest and educational... so just wanted to say good stuff. Once again I love your insightful reactions, especially when you react to Angelina. I'm a true fan of her, and I was so afraid that Republic Records would try to steer her in a Pop oriented ($$$) direction to maximize their earning potential. Based on this sample, It would appear that they are letting her set her own course. There is just enough pop influence to offer the opportunity of radio play, and potentially become an anthem for these challenging COVID times. She wrote the lyrics, and the depth is amazing for a 14-year-old. Angelina and her artist grandmother did much of the artwork.

this video was made using Angelinas and her grand mothers drawings. the company took their drawings and animated them. BUT, go find her live in studio version of this song if you havent yet. the song is SOOOOOOOOO much better with the music in the live in studio version. its a beautiful song either way. she goes into the lower range in the live version....... trust me , its even better ....

I think the imagery used in the video is amazing. It's based on artwork Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani, a noted Iranian artist and poet. There are a couple of things that jump out at me.
First is the image of the girl with her arms outstretched like she's holding the moon. It is strikingly similar to the end of the video for Fly Me To The Moon: ua-cam.com/video/jnnzbdt4_RE/v-deo.html
The second is the image of her climbing the ladder, which reminds me of her interview on Anne Lindmo's TV show talking about her book. Anne asked Angelina to read a passage from her diary that she wrote after meeting the girl and giving away her shoes. Angelina wrote in part that, "It was as if there was from earth to heaven, a staircase. I climbed up the stairs." If you haven't seen the interview, you really should watch. It is extraordinary:
