Again nice Video Phil, „3 Horseman Tour“ after „Four“ yesterday👍💪 steep ramps, new rear camera and a nice Dinner ending, thanks for sharing👍, well done👏😎

I’d like to go back and do it again as I’ve climbed harder hills in Wales and England with success since then. Top video mate! Looks like you had a pearl of a day with the weather as well.
Thanks ever so much for subscribing, TFC 🙏 - it’s hugely appreciated . Riber can definitely rip your face off if you don’t save enough energy for the final 200m 🥵 You’ll see in my recent Hill Climb Racing (double trouble) - super Sunday - I entered the Hill Climb events in Matlock in October, and made a better job of Riber. An incredible part of the word to cycle. And for sure - if you’ve hit some of the tougher climbs in Snowdonia or the Lakes / Peaks / South West, then you’ll monster Riber next time 💯💪 . Great video, some great footage here. I did this route last November on a rainy day and inadvertently ended up joining a hill climb race on Riber. Difficult but enjoyable route and worth it for the views. Keep up the good work.
🤣Michael - it was a rainy November - I know because I took part in the Riber Hill Climb Race that same morning - and then Bank Road in the afternoon - it’s one of my vids. And for sure it’s an excellent and super tough route 👌Thanks ever so much
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy So funny that was the same day , I'll have to look at that video. I must've looked strange climbing in a rain cape with a fairly large saddlebag and no race number, but the cheers from the locals definitely helped me up the 25-30% bends. Keep up the good content.
Another crackerjack of a video Phill. That 1st climb was, well, beyond emotional, beyond brutal. 32% of leg busting pain and then when you think the worst climb of the day is over 34% through the woods is waiting further on down the road. And we got the added bonus of a cameo from Mr Pritchard.
Very pleased to deliver a crackerjack Tony 💯 - and thanks once again 🙏😊 . I came within 3 seconds of having to walk on Riber - could not believe just how steep that final ramp was 🤯 - literally lung busting … I’m almost relieved I was not aware of the horror lurking in Rowlsey Wood….. literally a wall to equal Porlock Hill and the top 1/3 of Hardknott - but thankfully a tad shorter 😅. Pritch had literally just done his 100km/h descent - he’s a boy - hear he’s into online delivery now 🤣
Super video again Phill. Nice to see some more familiar roads too. That Matlock 10 is certainly a loop that keeps on giving! Solid weekend of work completed there, and in beautiful conditions, the Peaks have never looked so good :)

Two machines and a little blue lawnmower Helen 🤣 - and I can feel your perspective! When we went to Yorkshire for the Struggle Dales in the Steepest Century video - it felt like riding repeatedly into a wall 😅 Thanks ever so much 🙏
Cheers Mark - David can certainly organise an incredible weekend of cycling 👌 - really appreciate you reaching out with such a lovely comment, it was a complex edit, and super pleased you enjoyed it 👍. And for sure - I was a little out of my league 😅
Great content and editing (Jayne) again Phill, picture quality is excellent and voice over is spot on, very well done 👏👏👏Topcat looked as fresh as a daisy at the end 😂

Fantastic video, it had all the hallmarks of an iconic BRWM! Backpedal legends, amazing scenery, brutal climbs, a crossover with another youtuber but most of all, mates enjoying riding their bikes! Looked like a great day out for all of you. Well done for plotting the route David, and well done for completing it Phill
That’s incredible of you to say so Nick 🙏💯 - and for sure David planned the perfect cycling weekend - plus organised a spot of good weather 🤩. I have to say the Peaks did their bit too - so many climbs (3 of the official 100 on just this ride!!). The WTRL and Sportives and general rides out with mates have helped me find what I enjoy most about cycling - the team work and friendship plus having a few digs on the steep stuff …. Hoping your knee continues to improve 💯🤞
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy I've only cycled the peaks a couple of times and it was absolutely stunning. Proper cycling gem! The knee is still not 100%, but good enough that I'm fully back on the bike. Thank you for your continued and kind support as I've been whinging too, love this whole community!
Definitely a place for another visit once you are confident of your knee, Nick - given the steep inclines out a lot of pressure on it. My left was very bad for 2 weeks after the week in the lakes . Keep consistent and don’t neglect the recovery - and 🤞

Truly climbing paradise 🤩
Haha, nice work guys, enjoyed that 😁 you set off like a rocket on Riber, haha. Great overlays, 34% on the inside line at Rowsley 🤮 first time I rode that I walked it. 🤭 loved the front and back camera work, quality of the vids just keeps getting better and better.

Very special weekend 🙏
These are my local roads and the first time I did the Ten was back in October 2018 in torrential rain six weeks after tearing my quad, it was great fun (I also paid for the pleasure) 🤷♂️
You have incredible local roads and countryside, Gene 👌🤩. And to do the Matlock 10, only 6weeks after a quad tear must have been proper proper challenging 🥵. I’ll be coming back to hit that route in the spring - because it’s an incredible way to accelerate fitness and mental fortitude 💯💪
Thanks ever so much Edwin 🙏 - you’ve summed it up beautifully 👌 - loved every second of it 💯 And congratulations on getting to head up the University Cycling club 👍
Beautiful video. The whole atmosphere there. But a real challenge with the hill climber topper Tony. So lovely to see David again. What a kind man is he, making the routes etc. Also happy to watch you and Jayne at a romantic dinner. You both look wonderful and when Jayne says 'fine', it must mean something, cause I think she is a lady with standards. 😂😂
Jayne is indeed a lady with standards - who lowered hers a tad to be with me Agnes 😊 - and I promise I only minimally ruined the meal 🤣 It was indeed a feel good weekend - and amazing to spend time with David, Phil and Tony. The Peaks is a truest beautiful part of the UK - and I can see why it produces so many amazing hill climbers 💯 Thanks ever so much for your lovely support 🙏
Cheers Martin 🙏 - maybe the Grand tour Organisers will replace Cat 1-4 and Hors with this method 😁 And thanks ever so much for your lovely comment and support 👍
Glad you liked the burn Phill 😉 and you have got a good one there with a sense of humour as I’m sure you will not get away with that with a lot of Ladies good on you Jayne. I thought you knew your tractors as the second one was a Johndear 😂 and as far as the climbing goes I done that one in Matlock and should I say I just rode Up it and that was hard enough doing that. And just to say another very enjoyable watch watching others suffer 😊
I’d softened Jayne up with your amazing M&S tip, Nick 😁 - and it really was as good as you’d said 😋 . Jayne is indeed very calm and patient -albeit I did minimise the filming and did the driving 😁 Yep - schoolboy error - green and yellow = John Deer !! I consider myself corrected 🤣. I couldn’t believe Bank Road when I saw it - straight and vertical - in a sensational urban setting… loved it ! So pleased you enjoyed this vid - was a lot of fund to film 👌
I’ve heard that John O Groats to Lands End is absolutely relentless - so kudos for completing it PinPointEnts 💪✊ - yep - the climbs here were absolutely savage - but stunning 🤩
Great vid Phill 👌 & nice to see you doing some proper climbing IN MY BACK YARD & best place in the country although you've still not done my favourite climb in the area!! Maybe next time 👍
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy favourite would be Bretton to Barrell Inn short but steep - other side of Sir William Hill that you did, 1500ft at the top so stunning panoramic views but I do like the Strines section beyond Ladybower Reservoir......too many amazing climbs in the Peak District though to be honest 👌....never gets boring 😁

a seinfeld comment (ie. about nothing). been using a viking press landmine attachment. you might like to try this in the exercise/star wars room in yr apartment. allows you to do front squat, push press, split squat, rdl, overhead press: high value compound movements. minimal space req. apart from v.p., you’ll need landmine and a pair of proper bumper plates to anchor it. good for when you don’t want to trickle down to the commercial gym.
Cheers for the tip on that FFF - however it will need to wait in the apartment - because we’ve just sold it and are preparing to move out . But I may be able to try in the gym . Do you like curb your enthusiasm? I do … in very small doses 😬🤣

Cheers Jason 🙏 - thats super kind of you !! And isn’t fine the kind of resounding endorsement we all seek after a romantic dinner for 2 🤣
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy 😂😂
Looks, simultaneously brutal and brilliant. Amazing video as always.
Love the daddy bear mummy bear baby bear classifications of hill. Not like you to limit the classifications to only three!! Great post again.
Cheers Martin 🙏 - maybe the Grand tour Organisers will replace Cat 1-4 and Hors with this method 😁 And thanks ever so much for your lovely comment and support 👍
Bloody fab. Loved it
Thats extremely kind of you to say so Jonathan 🙏 - and massively motivating for us 💯 Plenty more to come
Glad you liked the burn Phill 😉 and you have got a good one there with a sense of humour as I’m sure you will not get away with that with a lot of Ladies good on you Jayne. I thought you knew your tractors as the second one was a Johndear 😂 and as far as the climbing goes I done that one in Matlock and should I say I just rode Up it and that was hard enough doing that. And just to say another very enjoyable watch watching others suffer 😊
Thank you Nick. For the kind words & the lemon twist recommendation!
@@jaynes6813 😊 glad you enjoyed it
I know how you feel. I did the John O Groats to lands end cycle ..... The hills are brutal.
Maybe next time 👍
I’d seen you on a few of the KOMs (faster than me! ) Keith 💪 Love your manor 🤩 - truly an incredible part of the UK. What’s your favourite climb ???
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy favourite would be Bretton to Barrell Inn short but steep - other side of Sir William Hill that you did, 1500ft at the top so stunning panoramic views but I do like the Strines section beyond Ladybower Reservoir......too many amazing climbs in the Peak District though to be honest 👌....never gets boring 😁
Nice one Phil! Hellish 😂 Almost did that myself but chickened out
Cheers Mark 🙏 - I seriously though about pulling the plug after blowing on Riber 😅 - but definitely doable if you only go to VO2 Max when needed 💯 Recommended
Great video as always, ride looks mega!
Cheers Sheldon - thats hugely appreciated🙏 . David had gone to a lot of trouble to plan the weekend - and it was an epic route. I’d very much recommend 👌 definitely, I’ll be heading back there soon 💯
Another great video. Those two guys look unbelievably powerful and great company (if you can stick with them) to ride with… and oh to have an understanding partner like Jayne… every cyclist needs a Jayne 😅.
Thanks ever so much Anthony 🙏 - was an amazing day, and Jayne pulled the edit out the bag 👌 For sure she’s very calm and understanding - her superpower is calm 💯 David and Tony are both on another level to me - but was good to cling on to their coattails - shows just what can be achieved 😅
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy your numbers are super impressive too. Easy to watch but incredibly difficult to replicate. I’m in London tue-thur so I’m going to take the bike and seek out this famed Swaines lane 🤞
Cheers ! It was a good legs weekend 😅. Good time to check out Swain’s is in the early am (less traffic and also schools on holiday so even better)
a seinfeld comment (ie. about nothing). been using a viking press landmine attachment. you might like to try this in the exercise/star wars room in yr apartment. allows you to do front squat, push press, split squat, rdl, overhead press: high value compound movements. minimal space req. apart from v.p., you’ll need landmine and a pair of proper bumper plates to anchor it. good for when you don’t want to trickle down to the commercial gym.
Cheers for the tip on that FFF - however it will need to wait in the apartment - because we’ve just sold it and are preparing to move out . But I may be able to try in the gym . Do you like curb your enthusiasm? I do … in very small doses 😬🤣
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy curb funny. but can be “a bit much”. has grown unnecessarily coarse since introduction of leon black. favourite moment: greg. ua-cam.com/video/pP2nukRR6c4/v-deo.html
Great video Phil, your breathing sounded like defcon 5 not defcon 1! Great work and as always fantastic fun and video. Than you and Cheers!
Cheers Stuart 🙏 - that’s much appreciated! And for sure allllllll the oxygen was being sucked right it …. nearly not enough!!
Your dinner dates... I'm suprised your not getting divorced she must be very patient with you 😂
Great video once again 👍
Thanks ever so much Tom & Rachel of the very first dance ! 🙏 It won’t surprise you to hear that I have been divorced… and am blessed with Jayne being so so so patient 😅 I did the driving duties - so got a brownie point or 2 for that 🤣
My Wahoo Bolt auto-pauses when I hit a slope of about 18% Pretty insulting when your bike computer reckons that you're going so slowly, you might as well quit :D
Agreed Patrick 💯 - it sure is insulting - when we are still blitzing along at 4km/h 😅
Stunning video as always Phil... Love that laugh in response to hilly.... And by George I thought we were about to witness some walking on the first savage hill! Keep up the good work sir and ofcourse well edited Jane! x
Thanks ever so much Jem 🙏 - and I’m so sorry there remains no line of sight to your herniated disc getting better. Really wish you much better fortune in the quest to get that sorted out 🍀. Hilly 🤣 - they sure do have a sense of humour in the midlands - hilly with a few perpendicular walls. And seriously I came within seconds of having to walk - all kinds of trouble 😅. Really appreciate your super kind support and Jayne says cheers on the edit (her most complex to date !) 👍
Massey Ferguson action…..looked like a green John Deere to me…🤣🤣🤣
🤣 My bad! Indeed its a John Deer - green and yellow - how could I make such a school boy error 😁
glad you took up the advice and visited Matlock Phil. I live close to Alton Towers and i try to get across into the peaks at every given opportunity. Are you attending the national hill climb championships at Winnats pass this year?
Cheers Joshua - it was an amazing tip thanks 🙏 - what a part of the world to ride a bike 🤩 I’m not good enough to take part in the National Champs - so don’t currently have plans to attend
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy still worth going to watch if Ed is involved. Give him some support on the new wheels 🚴🚴
💯
2:43 for the TT is very impressive, well done. Sorry be pedantic but I’ve got to pick you up that Wirksworth is a market town, not a village, the start of the climb up West End is the market square when not a car park.
Cheers Mark 🙏 - thats very kind of you to say so! And my apologies, the towns and villages when by in a blur of high heart rate ! But for sure market town is a lot larger than a village, and very handsome it is too 👌🤩
Another brilliant video, some serious climbs there. David was spinning up that last hill, would love to know what gearing he was using.
Cheers Liam - thats massively appreciated 🙏 - and no doubt the climbs come thick and fast - and are incredible. You’re either ascending or descending 😅 I’ll find out
Shepherded me to the top like prescious cargo ☺️
David was a true squire - could have easily left me to my own devices - but wrapped me up in cotton wool whilst I was still getting back in the game 😁
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy You were never out of the game sir ... Just weighing up your options 😂
🤣
The altitude must have been getting to you, looked rather like the John Deer colour's to me.
🤣 Kev - when we got over the top of Riber, I was in all kinds of trouble… all kinds ! Greener than the John Deer 💪
You deserved a proper pint after that fella.
Cheers Frank 🙏 - was my absolute max for that day! But what a part of the world to ride a bike - spoilt for choice with the climbs ! Andy indeed should have had an ice cold beer 💯
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy It's my neck of the woods and Derbyshire is beautiful, leg breaking, but beautiful.
Do you have 50/34 in the front? Or does one need sth even smaller do climb a 30% gradient.
I have a semi compact on the Wilier and a 30 on the back. On the Colnago I have a compact and a 32. I think that the 32 or 34 on the rear is super helpful for most people (me included ) in the Peak District, Lake District or Snowdonia 👍
Would you mind sharing the route? Im planning to head out that way this weekend
Have you shared the route anywhere Phil?
Hi Mat - if you go onto my Strava you should be able to see the route . David plotted it - we started on Bank Road and then Riber - which is not the official beginning - but completed all 10👍
traversing wot larkin thought best about the place: “the shadows, the meadows, the lanes…”
You are an individual of culture FFF 👌 - nicely said . Am back in Wordsworth Country in Sept for the Fred Whitton
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy took from “going, going”. a rueful exposition of his chum kingsley amis’s observation, “more means worse”.
à propos of nothing. on indoor trainer yesterday morning. heard captain mainwaring say to sgt wilson, “i spent my honeymoon at inversnecky”. don’t think i’ve ever heard a more desolate remark.
Fascinating - I assume you are a student or teacher of the English Language ? And moving from Larkin to Dad’s Army is sublime BTW 🤣
new to biking, at 3:58 does the guy in the front look like he's leaning his bike too much there while looking back?
Hi Nico - good to have you onboard 💯 ! I’m relatively new to cycling also - only started my own journey 3 years ago (inside initially on Zwift). Yep - for me and likely yourself, I’d never do that 💯. But Tony and David are exceptionally good bike handlers - so better able to take a small risk like that on quiet roads they know well. Great decision you’ve made to get into cycling 👌 - it’s a lovely supportive community 😊
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy 3 years ago? And you're doing this. Wow. Iron makes Iron, and I guess that applies for ironmen too
@@nicow6808 I really enjoy the training, and discovered that I also have a natural aptitude for the fitness element of cycling . But the progress has not been linear - some steps forward and some back 💯
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy is this your first sport or were you already athletic before?
If you ever need BAKPDLers to drop TC style I'm sure there will be some volunteers (says Scottish Norfolk dweller) 🤣
🤣 Cheers DJ - I know my place - thats hanging on to the coattails of BAKPDLers 😅 - but for it would be good to get dropped by you and the folk out east on the beautiful flats. I’ll be found hiding in your draft 💪
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy I meant the other way round Phill. You'd leave me and plenty of other BAKPDLers behind for sure! 💪
I’m not so sure of that DJ 😅
That was john deere action not massey ferguson 😜
It sure was Matt ! Schoolboy error by me for sure 🤣
Your Strava link won’t open for me 🙁
Hi Danny - I just accepted your request! All should be good now 👍
