  • I'll show you where it is, the fastest way to access it. You'll need a stubby ratchet and oil pressure sensor socket to remove it easily and your other basic tools. Its beside the starter and directly above the oil filter. You'll either have to remove the starter to reach it or go through the front angle as I'm showing here

One can use several extensions to reach across from the right or passenger side and remove and replace the sensor. It is quite easy to access with enough extensions and sensor socket, Be careful of live wire on starter though. I got mine out and back in with little problem once I saw the best solution. To heck with the stubby ratchet or removing the starter.

For a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, simply remove the starter and you can have access to the OPS from below the car. It sits about a foot above the starter. Be sure to remove the positive from your battery first!

Pull the starter.. only takes a couple min and make access to the sender VERY EASY

No need to pull the starter. Disconnect the battery and remove the 4 screws that hold the stone shield with a 10mm socket. Pull the plug off the bad oil pressure switch. Use a 27mm deepwell with a wobble and 10-12 inches of extension and a ratchet to drive it. Put the socket on the oil pressure switch and bring the the extension to the wobble from opening at lower driver side and beneath the exhaust manifold. Loosen, then remove by hand. Start new switch in by hand until snug then repeat to tighten, but not too tight as it is likely aluminum. Plug in wire and you're ready to reconnect the battery and get on down the road.

Simple steps to replacing this oil pressure sensor that this gentleman does not mention.
    1. Unhook the battery do to your working clothes to the starter and if you're ratchet hits it there will be Sparks.
This thing is hard to get to know what this video shows just be aware.
    2. If you're jacking your car up be sure to chock the tires.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this video. Is yours a 3.5 or 3.9? Mine is a 2006 3.9 that leaks AND reads wrong. It is above my oil filter like yours. i can barely get my fingers on it, so i will take off the plastic to get to it, thanks again for that. Hey Beachbum, thanks for adding absolutely nothing useful. Your name fits you.

Ok, so my oil leak is coming from the oil pressure sensor and also that is why oil pressure light is coming on on dash???

UNPLUG THE POSITIVE FROM THE BATTERY! Trust me!

Was that sensor causing the oil pressure light to come on?

well, that was useless, try again by showing the repair and listing the tools needed with the sizes, btw you only needed to change the 10 cent O ring, not the entire part to stop the leak
