This is my comfort go to song 🎵 💕 I am imagining the high priests and prophets singing this song 2,000+ years ago.
I am an Artistic Phoniatrician from Italy. Congrats for this video, and for this voice. terrific voice: beautiful and very healthy!
It's been a rough month and today I cried (again, just completely overwhelmed) and I needed G-d so very much.
Tonight as I lay here in the dark, listening to some favorite music, it suddenly came to me to listen to music for Him. It's amazing 💗
I ponder - quite often - how He brought our entire reality about by His mere breath, spoken word. 😳😳😳😳💗
Btw, I am not Jewish per se but I am in spirit in many ways. . .G-d has been leading me in this journey for a very long time.
A voice from gold, touches the heart
I just wanted to know what this sounded like. Never stepped inside a synagogue in my life. It's lovely!
I spoke too soon. Wow! Amazing!
I did too !! I am Catholic but I was reading about a singer that was training to be a cantor in his youth. So I searched & came upon this video. It is truly beautiful ! The range of his voice & the control is just amazing. Even if you don't understand the words, his voice tells the story. Just Beautiful !
This is so incredibly beautiful!
beautiful, Lemmer is bringing back real cantorial moments from the past
Yes, absolutely beautiful. Speaking of past...Lemmer's mood reminds me of my own childhood (1980s-90s) in Great Neck, NY Synagogues where the cantors were getting quite old already but still were cantors that echoed the cantors from the 1920s. I remember observing and wondering at the old women who would cry to the cantor's singing etc. Now, I feel like one of those old women! There is something very historical, nostalgic, real, just so beautiful and full of heart and full of Jewish meaning in this video.
In Allentown, Pennsylvania, we had the great pleasure of having Cantor Lemmer as Scholar-in-Residence last month (Feb. 2015) at our synagague (Sons of Israel). He was just wonderful. Thanks to UA-cam and our Hungarian friend, people all over the world can have their spirits lifted by the khazzan's heavenly prayer.
My friend Rabbi Daniel Korobkin used to be the Rabbi of that shul. Glad your Scholar-in-Residence program was successful.
+Doris Jaffe I was fortunate to move to Allentown during his tenure here. He's an excellent rabbi, a scholar and a mentsh. So glad you posted your comment, because it brought me back to this video. Since my dear, wonderful mother passed away 6 weeks ago, I've been off UA-cam. But listening to cantorial singing is permitted even under the strictest limits of mourning. So thank you.
Sorry about the passing of your Mother A"H. Hamakom yenachem eschem bsoch sha'ar aveilei Tzion v'Yerushalayim.
Very proud to be Jewish with this beatifull and touching (I had tears in my eyes while listening) song. Thanks for sharing.
This is my absolute favorite 💓

Cantor Lemmer has voice that is astounding!! It's so very beautiful!! Haunting and beautiful. Thanks for posting this!!
This is really exquisite ! I love this song, this Cházan is just perfect on his voice And soul... I'm a Cházan too in São Paulo - Brasil, grandson of 3 polish jews and one hungarian, Ignátz Belz.
This prayer, as well as most of the main jewish prayers, was composed by the men of the great assembly (about 450-300 BC) and established to be recited from Rosh Hashana until Yom Kippur (10 days of repentance)
I have had the pleasure of hearing in live in New York, Florida at the Jackie Gleason Theater (in Miami) and at my former Synagogue where I was the Hazzan Sheini - B'Nai Torah in Boca Raton, FL. He is even better live.

Very nice. The Budapest central synagogue is, I think, one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe if not the world.
Thank you for posting this gorgeous video! It is a pleasure to finally see a full quality film on youtube!
definitely gifted
My Father rest his soul had the same sounding voice when he would sing after dinner

Rafik S.
I like his virtous voice. its awsame , toda raba, yankel..
AMAZING!!
What a pleasant voice. And The Budapest
synagogue is among the most beautiful
in the world.
We were not allowed in there when we visited Budapest from England. They had a guard outside with a machine gun? The singing is wonderful. There's two thousand years of history behind it.
Tony Conrad oh thats a shame, but did you contact them in advance to expect a stranger? Security is a very real problem for some communities and I don’t take offence if they want to see I.D. Thankfully nobody’s asked for my parents’ ketubah and a DNA sample, but give it time... 🙄
the song of songs, beautiful interpretation
Amazing !
Very nice, blessings
Most amazing voice!
Never gets old! 👏
beautiful touching song beautiful voice - lived 5 years in Budapest saw the Synagoge only from outside, so sad about it
Just one week before R"H, it's a great opportunity to get in the right atmosphere for the yamim nora'im.
Magnificent.....
Amazing
It's not bad that he is barely opening his mouth, it actually shows a great technique of holding a "mask". His larynx is down, but his mouth is kept at the same position. Only if it's very necessarily on very high notes, he opens his mouth wider to create a special sub-sound. I am currently learning academic vocal, so ye I kinda know this stuff. And I talked to Yaakov personally, he is a very good guy and a great singer.
Bellísimo 🙇🏻♂️
Beautiful. Feeling more connected to my Yiddishkeit.
Incredible piece at the Dohany
What a voice! Beautiful.
Wonderful! And truly beautiful.
hope that he not get high in head and low in hart.
He have a touch in his voise wish I find beauty for the sorrowful jewish songs.
He touched my hart with his singing. For me since I don`t understand a word of what they are singing, I respond on the feeling of the songs message, not only the singers la la la.
have a good day from Norway
Thanks!

The cantors are requesting God that he should remember them for life for the coming year, and for him to grant them a good and prosperous new year. I hope I answered your question.

To Shiezoli;
It is a song asking Adonai to Remember us and inscribe us in the book of life for another year. The key passage is "Remember us unto life, Sovereign who delights in life, and inscribe us in the Book of Life, for Your sake, O God of life.
Zocreinu, Zocreinu L'Chaim melech hafeitz V'Chaim.
This particular prayer is said only during the Yamim Noraim, the ten Days of Awe that begin with Rosh Hashanah and culminate with Yom Kippur.
Hope the info was helpful.
jjjah den lieb ich sehr ..den burschen
not sure what they are saying but I still like the song
Hao Yang - This is one of the most beautiful songs sung on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This might help: www.mishpacha.com/Browse/Article/2475/Parshas-Nitzavim--Rosh-HaShanah-Remember-Us-for-Life
Asking God to forgive him for his sins and write him in the book of good life for a good new year
Toda!
Bella voz, don de Hashem!!!!.AM ISRAEL JAI!!!
It is a plea to G-d, translated thus;
"Remember us for life, O King Who seeks to give life, and inscribe us in the Book of Life, for Your sake, O Living G-d ... this prayer is said only during the 10 days form Rosh Hashana to Yom Kippur, the first ten days of the Jewish year.
The Jewish people seek only life. (As opposed to those who seek death, and for which reason there should only be One State of Israel, no second state that teaches its children the cult of death)
Amen
B"H ..... . Kol Nidre 5774 is not that far away. Halleyluyah!!
I heard he is working on an album with sobel I wish lots of hatzlacha.
Dios bendiga Israel
@shiezoli Hi. Incidentally ,that is not a song. It is a prayer, which is said during the ten days of repentence between the Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur. Cantors are religious leaders that are trained to sing [or chant] the prayers in the temple. This is the custom from long ago, and still is used today. I do not know who wrote it, or the date of origin, but it must be many centuries if not 1000s of years old.
paulus, here is the text:
ווען עס קומען אן די צען פארכטיגע טעג, עשרת ימי תשובה,
האט יעדער ייד בלויז אן זאך אין זיין מחשבה;

Yaakov Lemmer’s voice is powerful and very emotional. His voice is a gift from God to be enjoyed by all the people.
