Wow that’s the first trailer in the past few years that didn’t tell the whole story in one sitting. Cinematography looks stunning, capturing the real & rawness of these actors. I’m intrigued.
Indeed but while it doesn’t unfold the whole film, it was too vague for me and I really have little idea what it’s about. Trailer doesn’t make me wanna see the film.
Cleaning swimming pools is actually very therapeutic. I used to clean my grandma's when I was a kid and when I was done, I'd just stare at the crystal clear water and think "I did this. I turned this dirty water into something clean and clear." Then I'd jump in.
My Dad has a pool maintenance business, he loves it, he get's to be his own boss, visits some amazing homes on canals, problem solves, he loves the outdoors, chats to people and makes reasonably good money! Perfect for him!
I know the chances of Jennifer actually seeing this are slim to none but I want her to know that hearing her say that she dipped out of the spotlight because she thought people were sick of her broke my heart. She is one of my favorite actresses and an even more wonderful human. Silver Linings Playbook came out a month after I received my bipolar diagnosis. I watched and read the Hunger Games while struggling with my eating disorder (ironic, I know) as well as my parents divorce. I would watch compilations of her interviews while battling my depression. Jennifer, please don’t ever feel like people didn’t want you to stick around because your absence has been sorely felt by so many, me included. I’m so happy you’re back in the spotlight. Thank you for being you and don’t let any of these assholes ever keep you from doing what you love and what you’re so beyond talented at doing. Please stick around!
For those who want to know the premise, according to wiki “The story follows Lynsey (Lawrence), a soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury while deployed in Afghanistan and struggles to adjust to life back home.”
For those who might not know, it looks like this is set in New Orleans, and the Causeway is a major bridge (I think 3rd longest in the world or something, about 30 miles,) that starts in New Orleans and goes across Lake Pontchartrain.
@@sweetdkinkycurls I haven't watched the movie, so not sure how they presented it, but it's really not scary at all - it's honestly kind of boring (or peaceful, depending on your view.) The Huey P Long bridge in New Orleans is way scarier - it's a tiny 2-lane bridge, there is zero shoulder space, and 18-wheelers will regularly zip by you. We all had to drive across it as part of driver's ed, and there were many a scraped side door from getting too close to the railing.
@@commanderrussels2612 Lynsey, a U.S. soldier, experiences a traumatic brain injury during her tour in Afghanistan which forces her to return home. She struggles to return to her daily life with her mother as she waits for her eventual redeployment.
Someone in the comments said: “jlaw plays a soldiers who suffers an injury in afghanistan and is awaiting her redeployment and she is confronted by the violence that inundates her own society” Sounds super intriguing!
If you've travelled across the Causeway, halfway through you can't see where you came from nor can you see where you are going. You are on a bridge in an ocean of water and there's no changing your mind. I wonder how that ties into the movie since it is the name. The Causeway is the last place you want to run out of gas or break down.
The pool scene reminds me of some reason (I don't know why I'm sharing this... maybe the mystery of this movie ad) of a time in my childhood when my twin brother lost a contact lens in the shallow end. I looked and looked and looked as he sat helpless on a banana lounge eating an iceblock. I submerged myself over and over, eyes closed against the chlorine, fingers feeling their way along the light blue floor... Eventually we gave up and headed to our room. And there it was, the contact lens, on his bedside table.
if you dont know, jlaw plays a soldiers who suffers an injury in afghanistan and is awaiting her redeployment and she is confronted by the violence that inundates her own society
A pool cleaner that finally goes into a pool at the end of the movie and has a hard time with friendship & love. She believes has a debilitating disease of the brain. I would like to see this film because of the awesome actress, but it's on Apple platform. I don't have that one.
Only a handful of films made really stand out as OSCAR picks each year. THIS IS A RARE TREAT. 10/10 Ms Lawrence as a producer and her writers Ottessa, Luke & Elizabeth. This film is a remarkable work of STORYTELLING at its finest. You won’t see a finer film in 2022. It’s got PURE SOUL. The cast are magnificent. Brian Tyree Henry is a true gem in this with compassion & honesty not seen in cinema before. He’s totally going places. I could rave on and on about this sleeping giant of a film but the public need to decide. It’s worth the price of a ticket & more.
Wish more actresses/ celebrities would follow her lead. She’s intelligent, attractive yet doesn’t go around flaunting her goods in skimpy crap and trying to get attention. She puts her efforts into her craft and her causes. She will be around for a long time. I see a lifetime achievement award in her future.
So trailer explains nothing of premise in film. Imdb says this "Having suffered a severe injury while serving in Afghanistan as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, emotionally scarred Lynsey returns to her home town of New Orleans to recuperate. And as the heavily medicated former officer struggles to find purpose outside rehab and the military, working hard to reclaim her life, Lynsey strikes up an unexpected relationship with sweet-natured local mechanic James, a broken soul offering companionship. But Lynsey is itching to redeploy to find her place in the world. When well-buried traumas stand in the way of new beginnings, can time take the edge off the pain and heal the open wounds of the past?"
I've followed A24 for years and quite like their slow build ups however and I fear it'll be the same for this movie nothing ever really happens in them and the endings never really finish properly. I hope I'm wrong for this one.

Jennifer Lawrence has always been an incredible actress and highly underrated. 18 year old Jennifer in the "The Poker House" (HUGE trigger warning) was jaw droppingly mature and strong in a role that had to have been shockingly intense to play.
Underrated?? She's had FOUR Oscar nominations, won once and has various other awards. She's been on a slew of talk shows and hosted for Kimmy Kimmel. This woman is a lot of things but underrated is not one of them.
Watching this movie all I could think was I miss the days when girls dressed like that. Not all skanked out covered in fake lashes, fake hair, makeup, claws, yoga pants, cleavage tops and leggings. Look how pretty she is and she’s not even trying
I want to watch this film for both Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Tyree Henry - I've been really impressed with his work, and loved him in Bullet Train. I'm glad Jennifer has got back to doing proper films again, I think she is a very good acrtress, and really enhoyed her performances in Silver Lining Playbook and X-men Days of Future Past (I'm afraid I never did get into the hunger games franchise) ,but her celebrity just got a little bit too much for many. I personally find her annoying in interviews because I think she tries to hard be too likeable, the people I tend to like in interviews are comedians who don't care like Ricky Geravis or Kevin Hart. Plus actors don't need to be funny so don't try on those promotional tour plugs. Who cares if people you don't know like you just do a good job as an actor/actress and then people can't really say anything about your talen - I mean look at Leonardo Dicaprio. Personally think celebrity culture is what ruins so many promising and talented actors/actresses. I've always enjoyed her work (with some exceptions like Red Sparrow - just wasn't needed). Also hated Don't Look Up despite good performances from her and Leo, but she was the only character who made me laugh in that rubbish and unclever film, and that's saying something!
