So essential and so true. The last time I wanted to cut corners I wasted 2 days of work, and when I stepped back, the whole thing looked terrible. I tried to fix it by cutting more corners... but then took a deep breath, went back to my original version and just did it properly. Never half ass it, or it will bite you back. Giving all you have will always work in your favour!
This is so true … I wasted so much time hurrying a painting on a deadline and immediately regret. But, you can also see it as your troubleshoot piece. That way, you diagnose the problems and get straight to all the techniques you want to use, and where you’re lacking. Maybe that diagnosis is essential for your studies. That’s just my experience tho. What I recommend is you do a prototype of your actual piece, maybe just in grayscale and no details to fireproof the coherency of your idea.
I remember first finding your channel 4 years ago thinking "wow, this guy is an absolute dick" and now I can say you've been the best influence on my art journey. I dont think Ill ever be as much of a workhorse as you, but your attitude in relentlessly advancing your career is something a lot of people need in their diet. All of your advice uploads are worthwhile kicks in the ass.
Idk if I'd go as far as describing him as being "an absolute dick" but he does exude "Father-like qualities" a great deal. Meaning that he has no ill intentions while he delivers experiential discussion on some hard truths. Just serves up a meaty straightforward sandwich with a slice of humor, hold the bullshit.

I wish I could stay that positive. Things changed, I don't feel like being successful is possible anymore, especially not in art. I'm still drawing out of habit.. but not because I believe I'll ever succeed. I can see a future where artists get completely mocked into irrelevancy, and barely get any demand.
Hey Trent...just want to say that you have provided so much wisdom and value to not only me, but probably thousands of others. You were one of the first art channels I tuned into years ago when I was a wee little art baby looking for guidance on this crazy journey. I've watched your videos, purchased your tutorials, and I have a copy of Twilight Monk Volume 1 sitting right next to me as I type this. And you better believe I'm hyped to play the game when it's released. I'm happy to say, after years of hard work, I'm finally breaking into the industry and getting gigs, and I have no doubt that your advice has been instrumental in my small but meaningful successes. I just want to say thanks, man. And GANBARE all the way!!!
I won't say this video came at the right time when I needed it, you may already read several of those comments. I will say, that I found internal peace with your words, and that you find peace with whatever you are going through.
Sometimes I wake up by 4am usually unexpectedly but the moment I a single image comes to my head or a fundamental problem I was tryna solve a day before comes to my head I’m picking up my iPad 💪🏽💪🏽let’s get it guyssss
Thank you for this video, lately I've been working on a project and lots of the thigns you said are really useful and good reminders of the good and bad that I'm doing
I am in a game design class and I’m wanting to do concept art but I’m just not loving working with blender, I love doing 2d just not 3D and I wish they focused more on 2d
Hey Trent! just bought the Photoshop cheats, been really helpful. Have you checked out ? Real concept art stuff there and they show a lot of the design process. Looking forward to the next video :) I've got the ebook if you wanna use it on a video (if its allowed)
Hello sir, I dream of perceiving a career in character design for games in the future. As with drawing and creating I know the basics and I would like to develop them further, but I’m not sure what exactly I should study to make my characters look more original. Any tips would be awesome :P
@@TrentKaniuga Well then... Looks like I'll be buying a digital copy, and then waiting with anticipation for the sweet, sweet physical version! I'm excited already, this game is looking pretty amazing so far! Congrats on this project coming to life Trent. You've been on quite the journey within this world you've spent so much time creating. It's absolutely inspiring to see someone with such a strong dream, it truly is.
Trent, I'm affraid that my work will amount to nothing. Is there any way to know that I am making progress and that I am heading in the right direction as a begginer with no work experience in the art industry?
maybe I can help you. I recommend documenting your art. Pictures, video, however you go about it, document it. And then compare it in an amount of time, it can be a month, 6 months. But focus on one thing. For my experience, I wanted to get better at my values, they would be very close to one another. So on my own I did grey squares and value studiea of an apple. For a month I painted that apple in black and white. And at the end of it, my values got better.

Is there any chance this game will have a physical copy?
Either already planned, or maybe on Fangamer or Limited Run eventually?
If the game sells well enough, we will do a physical release. yes.
