Yeah right since the day I bought it was one of the best. Great skate trip with friends, bought the vhs, watched it i was just blown away and finally got laid. Owen Wilsons sketch was definitely a wtf moment and took me a minute to realize it was koston. Eric was my favorite at the time but that video is so staked with great parts and as I kid I was so motivated to go skate. Yeah right was added to menikmati and the reason that played daily that summer.
Hell yea! That's some good nostalgia right there! I remeber when it came out seeing Koston's ender and having to rewind it and rewatch it multiple times cause a tre flip noseblunt wasn't possible on a handrail.

My buddy Kyle passed away last year from muscular dystrophy, and had been in a wheelchair the entire time I knew him. Never stopped him from telling me all about the things he used to do when he could still skate, and he always made a point of telling me that he used to skate Girl boards. I just got into skating this year, and figured the it was only right if I went with Girl for my first deck, as an homage. Feels like I’m with him every time I ride
My favorite thing about Girl is me and my friends sneaking out very late at night and we meet at my one friends house who own the Yeah Right video. We will always skip to the magic skateboard scene to get pumped and then we would head out to hit the classic small town street spots. Sometimes not coming home until the sun start coming up right before we had to go to school. Seriously some of the best times in my life to when I see clips from Yeah Right I get kind of emotional.
Fun story about Girl. My high-school wood shops teacher built us a steam box and we started making our own skateboards as projects. I carved out a mold of the Colin McKay deck I was riding at the time because I loved the shape. We laminated pieces of Maple together, put them in the steam box for a few hours, then clamped them to my mold so they kept the shape. Cut them out on a bandsaw, routered them. It was awesome when you were a poor high schooler to have free decks. I kept one unridden that I painted the RDS logo on.
Yea I was at a skate shop a couple weeks ago and found a numbers shirt and ask the guy about the brand and he said he heard it’s not doing too good sucks for Koston and guy I’m still mad that fourstar went under too this day
I’m 36 and I haven’t skated since I was 19. Did a lot of research finding a board I liked. Finally landed on a girl board. Guess you can say what’s already been said. I skate like a girl. Much love to the brand, teammates and all the hard work it takes to get to where they are. May we all skate like GIRLS.
You nailed it. Girl took out World Industries. It is an interesting park skateboard history because girl did to World what World did to the big 5 of the 80s. Girl has always had a cool vibe. The Girl chocolate demo at manning skate park in perth on election day 2004 is still the best demo of alltime with BA MJ Devine Mike Carroll and koston all absolutely killing the park for a solid two hours. Back in high school in 1995 I had a copy of goldfish. I walked by an empty classroom at lunchtime and noticed the AV cart, you know with the old CRT strapped down with a VHS player all ready for the next class who was going to watch some educational video. So I popped in Goldfish and a few friends and I started watching. People were walking by and wondering what we were doing in there and started to watch, then the keeners started filing in ahead of the bell, soon there was like 15 or 20 kids watching the vid and everyone was digging the skating and the music. Even the vice principal who was teaching the next class was into it and let us watch for a few more minutes before kicking us out.

Jersey Devil is a dope name for a board brand. Hope you heal up quick, just had ankle surgery after some torn tendons, heal up quick bud!
Carrols Fathers, "Chocolate" George, was a very prominent Hells Angels member through their haydays. His Mother is the one who did the illistrations for the clubs posters and such eventually leading to designing Chocolate graphics. Kind of explains the red & white theme, huhh

I bought a girl board off someone because my zero was locked up and idk why I just needed a skateboard for new years eve, someone sold me a sick girl semi pool deck with giant green Peralta wheels on some indies, love it. Can't wait to use it in the pool.
Rudy Johnson was so damn nice, he noticed my board was getting chipped to hell, so he opened his trunk, told me to take a couple of new decks. I strictly only put up Girl Choc. Fourstar ads on my bed room wall-Ealry 2000s. Jerons Mouse part, the best! And koston skating locally "the wedge hubba" - in AZ. In an old tour vid. Ummmm... that p-rod era on girl, was great too. BA skating to interpol. Mike york yeah right part was nuts too whoo. PACOOOO!!!!!
As a long islander Gino Iannucci part in yeah right was so monumental for me there was so many Long Island skate spots in that part and just a awesome skating also he had the guns and roses song so easy which fit so well he put Long Island on the map with that part big part of my childhood
No mention of Johannes Gamble creative genius behind many of the special effects in the films? Rick Howard's iconic part of him skating through the woods took place in Oakhurst CA. Some of the guys from the local shop helped lay down plywood. Unfortunately I was working at the skate shop that day and couldn't join then.
Not familiar with Johannes Gamble, he a friend of Spike? The Rick Howard story is amazing! A friend of mine interviewed him for a Canadian skate magazine and the whole time Rick kept telling him about this amazing new AM rider called Stewie McGlovern, and they wrote about him in the article... but Stewie didn't exist...
@@ShredzShop From what I knew Johannes worked directly for Girl. I could be completely wrong and he might have been a contractor. Not sure what his official title was there. He is a friend of mine from Fresno so when I was attending the UCLA admissions camp I crashed at Johannes' place. He took.me to the Girl warehouse where we got to skate the mini in the back with Mike Carroll and Rick. Of course my mini ramp skills were pretty nonexistent since I was a street skater but Rick and Mike cheered on my rock to fakie and tail stalls.

Riding and Getting "Fresh Set Ups", WAS ALL WE NEEDED!)... Tore my Left Hammy 100% and It's STILL Tweeked. BUT I STILL Ride! I Might NOT Shred Like I ONCE DID, But TIME Will catch US All and You Will UNDERSTAND! Until THEN....
SHRED
TILL YER DEAD!
Yooo! That rainforest clip is sooo dope! Also really cool to watch Spike Jonze progress over the years in all the girl videos into this insanely talented Hollywood star he is today.
Jersey Devil is a dope name for a board brand. Hope you heal up quick, just had ankle surgery after some torn tendons, heal up quick bud!
It’s Paulo Diaz not Paul
Carrols Fathers, "Chocolate" George, was a very prominent Hells Angels member through their haydays. His Mother is the one who did the illistrations for the clubs posters and such eventually leading to designing Chocolate graphics. Kind of explains the red & white theme, huhh
I feel like I was responsible for this episode. Radness
Iv been hooked on these 14 things you dont know videos
I’m fairly new to skateboarding my favorite memory from Girl would be Manchild in GX1000 - Roll Up* idk if that counts tho
Gx is a great first video
10:38 MUNI is not a Street in SF, it's the public transit (bus/train) there.
You told me everything I know about girl. Thanks for the time.
Pretty Sweet was probably the BEST skate video I’ve ever seen.
Favorite memory was being at the skatepark an seeing some of the best riders wearing shirts /shorts with girls on them.. never understand
Erik Koston was the skate God when I was coming up skating during the Menikmati and Yeah Right! Era...
Agreed
Guy Mariano's part in mouse!
Yeah Righ!! Dit it for me. I remember when I saw the invisible skateboard skit.... I lost my mind... I think I even spilled a lil water from my face. B.A. just sittin there and the guitars all peaceful and then 🤯😑
You gotta do 14 things about creature!
I got to meet Tony Trujillo, Stevie Williams and Mike Carol thanks to Rudy as well, that was 20 years ago. Girl is the best, i'm riding a Pachenco board these days !
I didn’t know spike jonze started from filming Bmx then skateboarding thats crazy
Great video, but quick correction - it's Orcas Island (pronounced orkiss) island, not Orca island.
Favorite memory from girl is brandon beibels yeah right part,i would watch it over and over and over haha i based my style off him and still do,i even dress like him haha and i mike mos part in fully flared is probably equally just as memorable to me,he opened my eyes to so many new tricks, the switch tre on flat to switch flip down a set was amazing
My friend got the new Mike Carroll Sanrio Tokyo Speed Series deck with the hello kitty graphic wit noh some 54mm Girl wheels and It's looks real cool
As a long islander Gino Iannucci part in yeah right was so monumental for me there was so many Long Island skate spots in that part and just a awesome skating also he had the guns and roses song so easy which fit so well he put Long Island on the map with that part big part of my childhood
That part was amazing, and Gino’s style is immaculate 👌🏻
@@diggitydawg510 Damn, that's cool! I've skated that mini at the Girl warehouse, so fun.
Did I miss the Brian Anderson mention?
My first proper setup was a Guy Mariano pro deck from girl, skated that thing way past razor tail
