- Air Force Capt Orchydia Sackey, 50th Air Refueling Squadron pilot, discusses her journey through the Air Force. Sackey attended the U.S. Air Force Academy and Pilot Training prior to flying the KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
Congratulations and thank you for being an inspiration to other girls and young ladies. I am a retired Boom Operator (1995) and I remember getting the first female co-pilot in the squadron on my crew while stationed at Minot AFB, ND. Back then it was 4 of us on the plane. She was from St. Petersburg, FL, and we too did a show of force spending a week there and flying missions from there. I’ll never forget her and her husband who was B-52 pilot. We had some great flight times and alert times. SAC (Strategic Air Command) was the way to go! The KC-135 is still the best plane in the Air Force even at 67 years old.
So Awesome!! I am so Proud of u. God Bless u. Keep up the hard work. Ur a great role model for future Female Pilots.
Love Always,
Ms. MJ
Congratulation.
