What did they always say about people, particularly women who made claims that men didn't like, way back when? They are mad, insane. DNA sample? Where did it really come from, where was the proof. the documentation, the conclusive evidence That the DNA sample belonged to Anna, that the test was even carried out? Whom conducted the test, was there more than one independent group that tested separately to confirm, free from heavy handed influence? Didn't think so. The skeleton found that supposedly was hers sounds far too convenient, nothing has been conclusively proven and I ask you, why would someone spend their entire life trying to prove they are a certain person, well into old age and never go back on that claim for the remainder of their days? That isn't thirst for power or attention, nor is it obsession nor is it madness, it is because it's the truth.

Few corrections:1. It’s not George V lmao i am so bad w Roman numerals. It’s George the 5th. I’m also aware I kept calling her princess and technically she never got to be :(
I kept thinking of the movie LOL and the songs they called her princess Anastasia but that’s not technically right, it’s grand duchess, but hey I’m not an expert with the royal stuff clearly hahah but I hope you enjoy! Oh and lastly there is a repeated clip- sorry for the error I was editing on a road trip in the car so it was a bit of a challenge. Much love!

Cpn. Beartato because they were royalty they were instantly a huge threat to revolution. When they grew older they could have easily regained control of Russia with help of the white army which would have been catastrophic for the Soviet people. It is sad to have to kill children in that circumstance but thinking about it long term it was necessary. The USSR already had a lot of inside and outside threats to contend with, with America, Britain, France and Germany mainly, they didn’t need any more.
The Bolsheviks took so long to decide what to do with the children because they knew the potential of it coming to bite them in the ass. It was a tough decision.

silja lin it was a horrific and needless death. Lenin was a scared coward. Even with the Tsar abdicating for both himself and Alexei he didn’t want the slightest chance that anyone could return and claim the throne or that those loyal to the family would reinstate the monarchy so he got rid of the whole family and blamed it on the “war crimes” of the Tsar. The Tsar was not given a trial. Simply found guilty of not being a good ruler and his entire family were put to death. You were right about the dogs. Two were murdered but Alexei’s survived. They were called “Joy” and I think they were a spaniel of some type

Ugh, I love the Romanov’s so much (yes, I’m aware they were awful to peasants and the Jewish population, but I’m mostly attached to the children) they’re part of the reason I went into History. Thank you Kendall for telling the REAL story.
I’ve always felt a connection to them... especially the film, which was my favorite as a kid.
I think it’s the hundreds of photographs they took of each other that really got me into them. They’re so real and it’s horrible what happened to them.
Helen Rappaport has an amazing series on them, one of which is about their last days and gives a blow by blow of what happened in the room they were executed in. It is really violent and could be triggering so I warn you now.
It was just TERRIBLE. The poor girls sewed jewels into their corsets (in case they escaped they could sell them), so when they were shot the injury was slower and more painful and their deaths prolonged. Anastasia and her sisters died last actually because of this, so they watched their parents and little brother be shot in the head alongside the people who stayed with them out of loyalty. Plus all of the executioners were drunk, so their aim was terrible.
The story of the man saving Anastasia was actually so that when word got out, he wouldn’t be killed by people for slaughtering 17-22 year old girls. The truth is that when they were loading the bodies up, one of the younger girls (either Anastasia or Maria) regained consciousness and started screaming because of all that had happened. He tried to stab her to death until one of his superiors came over and shot her in the head.
Alexis and Anastasia were put in a separate pit incase either one was found, the bodies wouldn’t be linked because they knew it was a certain number of people killed that night. Their bodies were also testers for disintegration, that’s why they had acid and scorch marks, to see what method would be best.
Their story is so fascinating and sad.

@@lina_ds8873 I know you didn't ask me this question but your best bet for learning about OTMA is to read the books by Helen Rappaport. She is a historian who specialized in the Romanovs. She has numerous books. The best one for learning about the sisters in general is probably "the four sisters". If you want to learn more about the execution and how it played out then "Ekaterinburg" is very detailed and lays everything out. I think separating Maria/Anastasia and Alexei had more to do with making sure no one could identify the family if one of the tombs were found. People looking for the Romanovs would be looking for a family of seven people, so to have two of the kids elsewhere would help with making identifying them more difficult.

my mom was diagnosed with cushings disease, different than the syndrome like 10 years ago. and what happened to my mom and your mom was really similar because it went undiagnosed for so so so many years. i learned a lot about the disease over the years from going to the doctor with her so much. she has had a pituitary tumor removed in 2012 and then again last summer. she actually expierenced pretty much all of the same symptoms. and she went partially blind in her right eye as well, this is because the tumor was pressing up against her eye but when it was removed it was okay again. she got the tumor removed actually through her nose and lost her sense of smell and taste for like a year. before you get an MRI they make you do tests like the 24 hour cortisol and blood tests and all which are kind of stressful and tideous. as much as cushings is hard to manage and the effects suck, it’s treatable and you’re extremely strong. you’re my favorite youtuber ever and i hope you feel better!! i love you kendall!

Tsarina is actually just her royal title, just like "queen" or "empress". And Nicholas II, would be Tsar, which would be "King" or "emperor"

For some more information, they were taken to the basement at 4am with they dog,and 3 maids too. Alexie was actually not dead when they did the first shooting and someone had to shot him again in the head to kill him. For years no one knew what happened to them and when they found some body's and did a DNA test they found it was everyone apart from Anastasia and Alexei so that's where a lot of the rumours come from. And also the women al wore dimound under they clothes the night they were killed... they found the last two bodies in 2007 which was alexie and Anastasia. When the bodies were originally discovered they actually didn't know whether it was Maria or Anastasia who was missing. They could only determine that it was one of the two younger sisters because of the shape of the pelvic bone. I believe it was later confirmed to be Maria. You're right though. Alexei was somehow unhurt during the initial shots. So were some of the girls and they were killed by bayonet and beating. I think Anastasia sat up screaming at one point and a guard tried to kill her but couldn't because of the gems sewn in to the corsets so another guard came over and shot her in the head. One of the dogs (Alexei's spaniel called Joy) lived and was sent to England to Nicholas's cousin. The missing bodies were found in 2007 in Siberia (not Serbia as Kendall said) but I think it was 2008 when they were confirmed as the missing Romanovs so people tend to say they were found in 2008 even though that's technically wrong.

I'm so glad that you finally covered this! It has always been one of my favourite theories and actually got me into conspiracy theories after I watched the movie 'Anastasia' when I was younger. And later it got me back into them when I became obsessed with the Broadway Musical of it.

Erin Biko mm, to be fair he’s on to something. like monarchies are generally bad, but the communist party integrated royalty back into society after mao zedong came into power. and as you can probably see now, russia hasn’t exactly had a good time of it since the monarchy was ousted either.

On my father's side, we're mostly Russian and something else (i can't remember) but anyway... my grandmother would tell us a story about how her father (my great-grandfather) had memories of being hidden on a ship with his sister Anna (he said he was 3 or 4) and them coming to Canada and having to change their identities. He would tell my grandmother his family was murdered and that they were told people would come for them if they didn't change their names. They were split up and he hadn't seen her for the rest of his life. He was convinced she (his sister) was Anastasia Romanov and he was the little brother who escaped death. I always thought it was fascinating when hearing this story, and comparing pictures of himself to Anastasia's father (the resemblance is uncanny) and even comparing my own father to these pictures. Although I know this is just a story, and the remains of the family have been found, It was something I grew up hearing from my grandmother, who was convinced her father was a romanov.

Ok, so weird coincidence, my great grandmother used to tell this similar story about her mother saying similar things about hiding on a ship and changing her name and being split from her brother. It’s been a joke in the family that we are secretly Russian royalty and that great great gramma was Anastasia, I always thought it was a fun story and I loved learning about the Romanov family because it was cool, but I just about had a heart attack reading your comment. I know the bones were found, and there’s no way. It’s just a really odd and funny coincidence

Love Anastasia! I remember researching her life as a kid after finding out the movie was based on a real person. Would have loved a little mention of Rasputin because he was featured in the film as the one going after Anastasia but there's also some spooky ties with him and the family that always intrigued me. Love your channel xo
