Dear Richard, the bike is now done. Had a nightmare with the front brake as its a cable op disc set up and all the bits inside were just rusted up and roached out. Dave Silver had nothing in stock. Went on to Ebay and got a replacement and it is like brand new, even had a new set of pads in it. Carb has now been set up correct and the timing/points have both been set but may have to reset the tappets. Going to set one day aside to inspect and go over it with a spanner to check all is good and tight then its MOT and Carol Nash time. Still got to give it a good polish to the Clutch case and the Alternator/sprocket case. The disc Caliper bits slowed me down a bit but managed in the end thanks to Ebay....Hve a great day Richard....

I'm so pleased to hear that your there at last. I'm not sure I could do the builds without eBay. Many of my xl250s parts came from abroad , I even managed to get a set of clocks from Iran ! I really hope that you can find the time. Upload a short video of the bike up and running, would be great to see.

Hello Richard, thanks for posting. Progress on the bike CB/CG125 has slowed to a stop. None of the lights are working and just cannot trace the fault. The engine (CG125) runs and sounds sweet and that system is a CDI type of ign. There is a bike place out by Gatwick called "Ferrets Auto Electrickery" and am hoping I can get it in for him to sort out. Do you know of any one I could ask? I would rearly like to have it done and on the road for the spring. Hows your bike going, still all good?....

I'm sure the bike technician will spot the problem quickly. My go to guy retired and moved away unfortunately. Took the XL out Sunday for a blast and she started and ran beautifully. Looking forward to spring myself.

Dear Richard I Felt I should just let you know that I have now got the bike back from the bike electrician (Ferrets) and everything is now working fine, better now then when it was when it was new. It now has a regulator fitted so no ballast resistor now. This will stop burn outs in the harness. The stator plate coils (3 of as it is the early type) have now been rewound and is now charging quite healthy. Next is to sort out the carb float settings and the fuel mixture ETC then to adjust the front brake (cable operated disc) as it is well slack. New pads will be fitted and the cable will be greased and adjusted. Looking at maybe fitting a black pressed number plate. The to do list is now almost at zero. Looking at moving out of London and going part time. I have a class one HGV and am looking at agencies out towards the West of here. You have not posted in a while, is everything OK?....

Great news, you must be quite excited about the first run. It won't be long now and you are right, that list represents only a few hours work.
You are right, I haven't posted in a good while, it has been a busy year for me. I have been focusing on the house ,we renovated it some 10 years ago and it is now needing more love and attention. Not being particularly flush with cash, I end up doing all the work myself and it takes most of my time. I have also gotten back into cycling and walking. I completed the 3 peaks challenge a couple of weekends ago and the training for that was an intense 8 weeks. Having said that, I did pick up a seized vintage outboard motor from the tip today, that may make it to video if it's not completely knackered. Watch this space... Ps looking forward to a shor video of your project when it's finished.

@@richardjweeks I hope so. All I want to do is get it done up and MOT and looking good. Never thought it would take this long. Seems like the last tasks take the longest. thanks for the heart, cheered me up. Near you there is a preserved railway near Alton. Being ex railway I may apply to be a volenteer. Thinking of moving and maybe retiring. Just getting things wrapped up first so as for a clean move. The ULEZ is going to be the death of me here in London....

@@jakobrebeki yes, the mid hants railway ( watercress) been on it many times and we supply much of the paint for the infrastructure that volunteers use. It's a nice part of the world and no emissions tax !!

Temporarily, I'm not working on anything, I have been concentrating on renovation work at home so not a lot of free time. Perhaps later this summer I may finally get another project up and running. Thanks for asking though.
