We need more harsh and Honest commentary on the games industry like this. Too many shills end up advertising mediocre or downright awful titles, letting Corporations and/or bad development teams get away with half-assing their product for a quick buck and throwing customers under the bus.
Such will make very little difference to the industry itself, for a whole host of reasons... just one being; every year millions of people around the world experience video games for the very first time and are enthralled by them (no matter how bad they are, relatively) because they don't know any different. The 'gaming community' is not a static block. You'd just be pissing against the wind, which is why more and more decide to piss downwind.
The other problem are consumers. There are far too many who will gladly buy mediocre trash and many who will even defend it. I've lost track of the number of fools that will defend Bethesda's games, in spite of the fact that their head writer even admitted that they ignore criticism. With so many willing to blindly consume and get mad at anyone that questions it, is there really any surprise that the companies are willing to take advantage of them?
@@Mirthful_Midori True that, Bethesda fantards are a good example, I probably would've brought up EA (specifically Madden) fans though, they seem even worse. It's really hard to be optimistic about improvement from devs or corpos there are whole swarms of these types ready to hand them their wallet.

Welcome to the brave naive world. Developers of said naive world can't face the facts so they suppress, censor people. Outsource their dirty work to influencers which get high when they receive free merch. Free merch > free speech. Is your mind blown how people fall for same thing every time? It shouldn't be. Because divided, singled out individuals has no chance against organized criminal entity; corporation. Corporation is an approved scam & spy business. Their approval was obtained through manufactured consent. Corporation is not the industry of manufacturing products. Corporation is in the industry of manufacturing consent. As well Corporations [through governments] are harvesting our biometric data on global scale. So they can get to know us far better than we know ourselves, and they not just predict our feelings but also manipulate our feelings and sell us anything they want- Be it a product as a service or politician.
GamerGate's biggest sin is that it was _absolutely A-1 fuckin right_ about corruption in the gaming media. Corruption which has only gotten worse since 2015.
I love how gamergate somehow turned from corruption in game journalism, into some kind of anti woman campaign. It's almost like the journos knew exactly what they were doing, and how to deflect the blame and get people to stop talking about it.
What happened was the opposite of how corruption being called out should work. They doubled down and discredited the other side. By demeaning and belittling you show your "enemy" is less credible thus not to be listened to.
What surprised me the most about the shills, is how little it takes to buy them- at least take a large bag of cash when selling out your integrity. I stopped reading Reddit in Jan. I'll never pre-order EVER again. My golden rule is- "the flashier the FMV trailer, the worse the game will be".
Nice shout-outs to Upper Echelon and WaB. I don't even agree with Mac all of the time, but his integrity is beyond a doubt. As for Kilo, it's beyond me as to why his channel isn't bigger. He almost singlehandedly convinced me to play Kingdom Come Deliverance and then Valheim and he was right on the money both times.
Because he says "controversial" things and has a cynical, sarcastic slant on things. Many can't handle it in this age of emotional frailty where nobody can disconnect their feelings from facts.
Can I vote this video as “video of the year”? I love when you point out that when you see “only positivity” in a stream or video that that should be a major red flag. It is a subliminal way to keep you from saying literally anything. It’s a subtle form of censorship. NO ONE is positive all the time. It is infuriating when I see that in streams or comments. Why can’t we speak honestly and respectfully? It’s so transparently fake!!
After seeing certain UA-camrs, review certain games in a way that almost places the game in the same level of greatness as invention of sliced bread, I am very quick to disregard them as bought off. The fact that this gentleman's reviews are being attacked by devs , means he's pushing all the right buttons and pulling off all the duvets. Another glorious video where every word is the bitter truth, this is exactly how it works (marketing, greed e.t.c).
Things are going to get bad to worse from here on out. There’s going to be plenty of UA-camrs both big and small who will backstab their own in order to keep their bs narrative/career going.
The idea that devs pay any attention to, let alone care about, a UA-camr with 50k subs is laughable. He said the same thing on Reddit 5 years ago to rightful derision, when he would have had, what, 20k subs? Incredulous.
That is also a thing you can do, but most people don't play videogames as a replacement of going outside and being active/social, or at least they shouldn't. For me and I guess for many others playing games just replaced the time I used to spend watching some boring show on tv (with my brain switched off). As to the corporations being evil (no shit) and releasing shite broken video games, there's a metric fuck ton of older games that you can play either on your pc, old console or through emulation and a lot of them are incredibly good.
The high seas is what those degenerate game studios deserve, for putting mainly shitty games in recent times. I am not against buying video games - I have bought every single Souls game (inc. Bloodborne and Sekiro) and many others, such as The Witchee 3, Hades, all Dishonored parts, the old AC games and many more(it will take me some time to list them all), but these days I have decided to sail the high seas for the foreseeable future. The only potential purchases for me this year were going to be Lies of P and Starfield, but after purchasing a new AMD GPU, I was gifted a code for the game. I have tested the overhyped Hogwarts Legacy and it is quite repetitive and boring. Certainly not a purchase for me. Its simply sad to see that good games are so rare to find these days.
Yes indeed. Its a great shame that we have to treat video game publishers like they less trustworthy than drug dealers but there it is. There seems to be an absolute lack of will in the West to enforce consumer legislation with video games. I guess they know where to spend their lobbying money. Good to see you mate.
Good to see Kilo getting better and better with time. I look forward to every video with great anticipation and this one as usual does not disappoint. Thanks for breaking it down so well my brother..
You honour me with your kind words Sir, and as always thank you for your stoic support. Hopefully this will help people spot the clues that are left out in plain sight. That said, from reading the comments section its actually comforting seeing how clued up people are and how healthy scepticism growing. All the best to you and yours Mario.
This is what I've been doing since 2017. Don't buy anything at full price. Don't pre-order. Don't buy anything that is not 75% off and includes all the DLC. If the hype is getting overwhelming play the previous game in the series or a game that is similar that I already own thus completely removing the hype that was brainwashed into me by marketing. Only bought a game at full price 2x since 2017. Sekiro and Elden Ring and I still did not pre-order them. One more thing I do is use the steam tag feature. I just tag games for my self with notes like issues that I may forget about by the time it's on sale like bad camera, stuttering or just bad practices like screwing over customers to remind my self why I don't have a game on my wish list or why I have not bought it.
All true. I sometimes see JackFrags gameplay vids and he seems decent and then I saw him shilling hard for Redfall in a gameplay review and seemingly not noticing how broken it is (didn't buy it). The Starfield train suddenly shifted a gear a few weeks ago after months of the evidence pointing to how bad it will eventually be, literally overnight there was a global change in attitude toward how "Epic" it was going to be without any actual change in the evidence. It was almost as if a huge wallet had opened and the smell of cash had wafted around.
Juicehead was someone I used to trust until Redfall. He Shilled so hard and then tried to pretend he did nothing wrong. How any of his Fans trust him after he did that I dont know. Its no wonder they can be bought, they have Fans/Defenders who just ignore it.
A truly excellent in depth exposure of buyer and seller aspects in the video game world. This is like a life lesson. It's given me a sufficiently renewed dose of hope in humanity that I've delayed my visa application to go and live in Canada in order to benefit from the State aided euthanasia program they have there!
I wish I could’ve given this video 100 thumbs up for just stating the obvious “Don’t pre-order games ever!”. Personally, I wait for Black Friday sales and then stock up on games for the next year.
I have a couple friends that always pre order games. And lately they've been complaining about how bad the games they pre order have been. So I talked to them about this issue with delivering half baked games and simply wanting the money etc. I told them how no matter how good a game is, I will never pre order and I will almost always wait at least a month to play it so all the bugs are fixed. They agreed with me and told me how great of an idea that was. Well, guess what? They disregarded all of that, continued to pre order games, buying the $100 deluxe editions, and continue to complain about the games. The latest one was diablo 4. These people are idiots.
2013 was the year I vowed to never pre-order a game (or buy it day-1) again. Two games from that year were responsible for this decision: First, Aliens Colonial Marines. A game I had been looking forward to ever since I first saw an article about it in PC Gamer magazine around 2008, as I was (and still am) a huge Alien fan. The developers literally showed fake gameplay footage to sell the game. As far as I remember, this game was the first major blow to Randy Pitchford's reputation. A class action lawsuit was launched against it, and it damaged the Alien brand so much that I'm pretty sure it severely negatively impacted sales of Alien: Isolation which came out the following year, even though Isolation was (and still is) THE best game the franchise ever produced by far. Second, Rome 2. The sequel to one of my most beloved games of all time. One of the most hyped games of all time among strategy game fans. An absolute disaster in basically every way imaginable. Extremely broken and buggy on release, literally unplayable for many, it took (if I remember correctly) around an entire year and many many large patches for it to actually be considered "completed" and playable. But the bugs weren't even the worst of it - it was full of questionable (at best) design decisions and gameplay mechanics. Bland music, copy-pasted factions, missing family tree, day-1 DLC where you had to buy the most popular and sought after factions so you could play as them, a bizarre political system that you could literally never use and it wouldn't affect the game at all, a bizarre system of linking several cities together to form regions so that if, as Rome, you conquered a city in a region in which you already owned a city, the citizens in the city you already owned would become unhappy because you... conquered a city. Like, the Romans... who are famous for LOVING generals who conquered and grew the empire... became unhappy when you conquered and grew the empire. Those two games, one after the other, hammered it home to me that developers ain't on our side.
@@thathandsomedevil0828 I still bought Cyberpunk a few days after release because I really wanted to try it and I trusted CDPR to eventually fix it (unfortunately it may never be the game we all hoped it would be). I will say one thing though - I bought the physical edition for the PC, and I've literally never seen a better presented physical edition of a game. It came with a decorative box inside the box, three beautiful postcards, a lore book, an art book, a soundtrack CD... and this wasn't even the collectors edition - just the standard edition which was the same price as the STEAM edition!
Thank you for making this video. I've been following most of what you say here throughout my life, and preaching it where I can; it's solid advise on how to safeguard yourself and have integrity as a buyer. In this festering media environment, we need to have integrity and be demanding of the products offered for our coin. Corporations have no morals except those you enforce on them by denying them profit(something Disney is belatedly learning, it seems).
I do genuinely believe that Todd Howard could start taking shits in boxes and slap the Bethesda logo on the side of them and people would buy it. And you would even have someone on the steam forums defending it saying "Why are all of you complaining?! It's really good Shit!".
While developers/publisher tend to get a lot of (well deserved) shit for their shitty practices. Part of the problem is the hordes of normies and fanboys enabling a lot of those shitty practices. Things need to get really out of hand before both normies and fanboys start pushing back.
In 40 years of video gaming I have only ever once regretted not pre ordering a game, and that was the original FIFA in 1993. I was working the weekend of release and strolled in to the shop on Monday morning to discover that it had sold out - in the entire country. I had to wait two weeks to get a copy. That was back in the days when you could only buy games physically. I am constantly flabbergasted that people pre order games these days when it's literally impossible not to get a copy on launch day.
For the last part, I agree. There’s no need to rush and buy anything as there isn’t a physical copy that needs to be reserved. You can get it in an instant … but it’s like dangling keys in front of a baby. Just say that they will get a “unique” armor/clothing/weapon skin or item, some extra in-game currency, 4k wallpapers to stare at, a digital art book, comics, and OST that totally won’t be put online for free the same day, and a way to show others when playing online that you pre-ordered the gold/premium/ultimate edition via a skin or badge… and you’ll have people lining up to convince themselves that it’s a “deal” they _need_ to get.
Over the last few years I barely even look at AAA games anymore, and haven't really been paying attention to what's been releasing. I cannot bring myself to care after everything they've ruined. There's not been a decent one in several years at least, and it's only getting worse. Especially this year, what the hell man
You never fail to crack me up, its a shame you're shadow banned, should have exploded by now! I dont have lot of interest in gaming (time..) these days, but i always watch your videos for the wit.
Once again I doff my hat to you sir. Your videos are always informative and funny as hell but so much must go into to making your lengthy content. Thank you for being you @21Kiloton
Excellent work as always, 21K! You're saying what we're all feeling, with added profanities and humour! LOL! I'll be listening to this one again, as it's tough to hear everything here at work. I even play it loud in hopes that my boss will fire me, but he's such an asshole he refuses to let me go. Sometimes I really hate being self employed! Have a great day, Sir! o7
I'm a proud member of the Game Club OYL (One Year Later). That is when we buy our games. They are Patched up..Half the price and we then know if it is Dog Shit, or not 😀👍
When i hear about the give and take between content creators and big corpos like Bethesda my mind automatically goes to MrMattyPlays. He is like the poster child for this kind of relationship.
Yea, along with JuiceHead and Oxhorn, as well (although I don’t know if Oxhorn even really covers Bethesda stuff exclusively anymore, haven’t seen his channel in a long time). Matty used to be a regular Joe Schmoe sitting in his room talking about Fallout. Over time, more Bethesda merch would be displayed in the background (like certain exclusive merch only given to the creators that made a lot of positive Bethesda related content), more videos would be made talking about how Bethesda is sending review copies and flying him to this or that place to preview a game just like all the other big Fallout content creators… Yea, he still gives his opinion on their games, and sure, some aren’t always positive … but how he relays information nowadays is totally different from how he used to be. There’s a lot of towing the line and fence-sitting when it comes to these types of creators now, and it’s because they don’t want to mess up the sweetheart deal they get when it comes to Bethesda games and exclusive info. JuiceHead is the same damn way anymore … always tiptoeing. I get it: they’ve garnered a lot of views and got recognized for their content, but the whole “I went to get YOU all the scoop” that these content creators always try to push when it comes to those types of things always felt so scummy to me. It’s like, no, just be honest: you went for yourself to market, make connections, get free shit, and be let it on exclusive information/items others weren’t asked to take part in because they didn’t shill hard enough or said too many negative things. You get to be _in_ the little circle now.
The releases of Starfield and now Cities: Skylines 2 have confirmed your points about the UA-cam shills. The performance of CS2 is so bad that it can barely run on anything less than a high-end PC and yet the shills didn't mention any of this until the likes of Worth A Buy got hold of the game and gave their reviews. And even now the shills are trying damage limitation.
Saw a great analysis of reviews in triple A gaming recently. Wish I could remember which channel it was. Buyers are not the customer. Reviewers are the real customer in modern gaming. Similar to how shareholders are the real customer of corporations. Both have enormous influence over the decisions made and future directions chosen. For example games reviewers are arguably a significant part of why once thriving game genres are all but dead (like real time strategy, and linear story based games. Linear is a dirty word!). They very much shape public perception and demand over time, pushing their opinions and tastes, rather than accomodating what is already there. The current pushing of politics is a prime example of how they don't care what customers want ....you need to align with their views. Not the other way around. It's not representative.
These days I consider most "reviews" as entertainment, not something I rely on to make an informed decision. I have a couple creators that have a style I like, and as long as they are not flagrant with the shill red flags, I just watch to pass the time. With all the various ways to get info on products, buying because of one positive review just shows laziness on your part.
It took me to work in the video game industry for a bit to understand the age old truth - never meet your heroes. It cemented in me that I'll rather stay a consumer and not look behind the curtain, all it builds is disappointment. For all of you ever dreaming of having your names in credits - remember that unless you're okay with toxic positivity, you won't even make it past being a doormat. In regard to buying games, my one and only mistake made was a early purchase of fallout 76. I did dupe items and make my money back in full using the absurd state the game was in and the fact there were people willing to shill cash for top meta guns, but never again would I buy a game early or take the hassle.
I get more entertainment from your videos than most AAA games these days. There's a lot of games I've bought that I ended up playing for less time than I spent watching this video. Cheers for all you do mate, it is appreciated, love your work. Peace from Oz.
New video. Nice, and Im actually here pretty much on time. Thanks again for another one of your straight up no bullshit takes on one of the most convoluted forms of media that exists. I consider it a good year if we get just one worthwhile game to play for twenty hours before I get bored of it heh. Anyways, good to see you are still around my friend. Cheers and keep up the great work.
These days I only purchase games for the switch. But that's because I no longer consider games on steam purchases. In reality its a long term rental, and I only get them when they cost what a rental did back in the days of blockbuster.
@s13gouf60 Nintendo is really the only big dev that you can still reliably count on. A lot of their first party efforts have been weak over the last couple consoles, but at least they haven’t gone full woke. When Nintendo gets it right, they’re still really good games. Just wish they’d make a console that wasn’t 3 gens behind the competition.
Synthetic Man and DW Terminator are also good examples of reviewers who don’t fluff their content for views. Both are brutally honest to a fault and will call a heavily lauded title shit in a heartbeat if it’s warranted.
I'm harsh/ cynical as hell and even I don't always agree with some of SM's hot takes. He's a breath of fresh air but his word is not gospel. But when I think about it, the only game I think I disagreed with him on was FFXVI.
Cyberpunk 2077 is the only game I ever preordered, and then my PS4 broke down a month before release, so I cancelled it. Then when I got my PS5, the massive next gen upgrade for it had been released a month before, and game was at half price too. Felt pretty lucky.
you dodged a bullet. i got 2077 on ps4. it was unplayable. the graphics looked like hammered arse, and whenever you drove a car you would smash into invisible shit that hadn't loaded in it's visual model but sure the hell loaded in it's hitbox (cars, bollards, you name it i hit an invisible version of it). CDPR sold me this game for $100au knowing FULL WELL it was fucked AND that it was impossible to fix for for ps4 and xbone. i will never buy another CDPR game for full price. i don't give a fuck if the first big sale is 2 years after release, that's when i'll check it out. fuck CDPR in their collective arses. in any other industry knowingly selling a broken product to hundreds of thousands of people would be a MASSIVE scandal which would result in the shut-down of the company and possibly jail sentences for the key players. video game companies can break consumer protection laws with impunity it seems. i now have a series s and i'm told 2077 is pretty good on pc and next gen. i'll never know unless they give it to me free. not shelling out another 100. that being said, if it's released on gamepass at some point i will get it for free, kinda. (in case you are wondering why i didn't wait and upgrade to ps5 and get next gen 2077 for free, 18 months ago i lost everything i own and almost my life in a huge flood. the series s was a gift from my brother when he upgraded to a series x 6 months ago. and anyway, ALL my passwords were written down in a paper note-pad. paper doesn't like being submerged in muddy water for 3 days. so my ps account was gone for good, and my google account and every other bloody account i had. the last year and a half has been a nightmare)
Christ on a bicycle, mate, that's right up there with saying "When I was a virgin, I decided to go to an innocent-looking sleepover at this Calligula bloke's house."
Wartales is an absolutely must for The [[[Noticer]]] type of person, absolutely no longnose subversion and what I consider the next-gen upgrade to Battle Brothers (another based title)
One of the reasons I respected the late TB, in spite of some of his failings, and let's face it nobody is perfect, was because he refused to review games made by companies he was involeved with financialy. Like Blizzard l, GoG and whoemever made Barbie simulator in space with Teno and stuff. Whenever he played games by these people he would disclose it was a payed or at least not an unbiased stream and not a review and even then he woukd not shy from critique.
The problem with the man was that he was an arrogant prick who didn't know when to stop himself, a truly bitter man that constantly bickered online with people who only dared to have different opinions - at some point, what does it matter whenever you're being honest, if you're impossible to listen to? I never understood why people let Bain get away with so much, because his authority didn't work on me - I simply wasn't a fan, I didn't see what others did.
The fantastical owls managed to smuggle your video through the asylum to my room, the nurses are livid! Jokes aside, thank you very much for the content. You've helped me more than you can imagine. Till next time, take care.
One should respect those UA-camrs that choose to be the first in line to purchase a new video game, review it, and then publish their opinions on said game as their line of work, as they are trying to make a living for themselves. However, it is a completely different story if while they are doing their work they also knowingly choose to be misleading and disingenuous. As long as we have someone like uncle Kiloton, we should be (somewhat) fine with those conniving UA-camrs, since their existence only makes 21K more creative, funnier and unique in his process towards their complete and utter annihilation. Thank you 21Kiloton for yet another chef's kiss video. It is absolutely inspiring witnessing your passion.
The toxic positivity one is particularly interesting because the narrative is you are just ruining everyones fun but in reality thats just another label used to discredit us (ex. Conspiracy Theorist, Anti-Vax, Racist ect.)
Mate fair play to you for this video possibly at your own detriment. It is very insightful into the processes. I have shared. Chapo you have my respect.
Agreed even if upcoming and new videos games have pre launch reviews and hype even! Even if the reviews are made it to look bad or have harsh criticism as the old saying goes "bad press is free publicity."
I'm very happy you made this video. We need to get this to 1 Billion views. There are so many people that are not thinking critically about this. Large independent review companies in gaming have been driven out and award shows are fixed. The best thing you said that resonated with me was that the consumer really needs to learn to wait. If a product has not been reviewed before launch or the first 2 hours of gameplay have not been shown off, just don't buy it.
DO NOT BUY ANY GAME THAT FORCES YOU TO ACCEPT TERMS OF AGREEMENT *AFTER* YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THE GAME. Term of agreement should be required BEFORE BUYING the game, not after you own it.
Speaking of UA-camrs as marketing tools, they're an easier attack vector because they're "relatable" and the masses that watch them are either unsuspecting or sympathetic to them, OR they'll excuse them with no damns given for the wider implications. This era of "relatable" marketing tools make me wish we just had upfront salespeople in suits because at least they're honest about being full of SH|T
46:30 - "don't trust youtubers, even ones you trust" I dunno, you were right about Days Gone and Wasteland 3. Much like that Simpsons episode where Bart keeps getting injured because a kid with a British accent keeps telling him to get hurt, I would jump off a cliff to please m'lord
No matter how shit things might be going on in my life, seeing a new video drop by you immediately makes me smile. Does that make me a 21 SIMP? If yes, oh well. I appreciate honest reviews, opinions and most of all I enjoy laughing. Thanks mate!
Brilliant as always. UA-cam seems to have stopped telling me you’ve uploaded, so I make a point of seeking you out every few weeks. Please do some film/series reviews. There’s an ever expanding cesspit of material just waiting for you to cynically critique. Wonderful stuff.
I've become so disillusioned with gaming content in general that I have less than a dozen games that I willfully come back to, almost all of which are now legally classified as old or lowkey. Act Man, Vinesauce, etc. Even most of their recent memes are like trash piles to me now, and I have thought about them to kill erections successfully in the past. I've been left behind by all of my gamer friends, and with the exception of playing D&D under the table (and even then it's an amalgamation of the old 1st and 2nd editions), am often on my own for gaming... excluding my dad who enjoys Deep Rock Galactic. That's one of the newest games I am willing to play.
My two brain cells teamed up and helped me to figure this fundamental question out. I don't buy any new games. I replay old Bioware games over and over again. Also Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 to mix things up a bit. If I really feel like spicing things up, I install some mods from neverwintervault, beamdog(ew I know, but hey, some of those mods are decent) or nexus/deadlystream.
Nice job! I've been preaching the same thing for the last 20 years. I'm just glad to see someone with the skills, talent, and balls willing to create an hour plus video about it. Time will tell if more gamers get the hint, but with how much money Mobile games make, it doesn't look good, but one never knows. Keep fighting the good fighting and keep those videos coming.
Great video as always. When you talk about these "moral" youtubers, a certain jack that does frag comes to mind, especially since the whole bf2042 debacle. Also, you should talk about the FOMO factor, they use it very often and effectively on unsuspecting gamers.
I have been Perma Banned from 3 Steam Forums. One was from Fallout 76 because I let a guy get to me, my fault and it was the first time. I learned how to play the game going forward. Second was on the SRW30 Forum. I was complaining about how Dialog concerning a Character from one of the Anime in it had been turned into Identity Politics BS. One Poster in particular was constantly fighting anyone who had issues with this and would push people to the point of getting them Banned or the Topic Deleted. I got Perma Banned via my FIRST complaint on the Forum. After these Topics died down said Poster never showed up in the Forums again. The only times he did was to Defend any of the WyOKE Complaints people had in Dialog that had been changed from the Japanese Version. Third time was for Monster Train, by the Dev. This was when they announced the Phone version of the Game, that was only to be released in China. I asked why they where announcing this on the International Version of Steam when China has their own Version. The Dev did nothing but Dodge my Question and told me to make my own Topic instead of asking in other ones. So I went to do just that, and found I was Perma Banned by him. He then proceeded to Delete all my Comments about it Criticizing the CCP. I wonder why... not.
I actually really appreciate this video. I've gotten to the point in my gaming lifespan where I prefer to play games I know I will return to rather than the new hotness. A game I keep playing is Killing Floor 2, sure there are some stuff hidden behind paywalls but the base game in general has a s*** ton of content any ton of mod maps to download for free.
Lol I love your vids for the pure honesty and no ***** given approach. I could sit here for hours listening to you rip into people. Oh btw you are one of the very few UA-camrs I trust 😉 😂
Subbed just for this video. You said on YT exactly hat I tell people and practice myself. Only game I ever pre-ordered was Fable 2. It was an okay game, but was not worth what I paid and received. I don't play phone games, ever. I use emulators to play old games. I don't use apps that require permissions. I try to only buy games that have hardcopies, getting hard to do these days. One recent game that I loved has disappointed me when it left early access. Conan: Exiles came out with those damn seasons and battle passes. R.I.P. Conan... I prefer games that don't require you to be online all the time. 7 Days to Die is currently my favorite games. I watched a lot of gameplay before I decided to buy it, for $7 on sale.

So they can get to know us far better than we know ourselves,
and they not just predict our feelings but also manipulate our feelings and sell us anything they want- Be it a product as a service or politician.
Power doesn’t work like that. This is what happens when you get a MONOPOLY
@@moonashayeah i never understood why anita sharkesian got involved and it changed everything
No it hasnt. It was always this bad. They just do not hide it anymore
What happened was the opposite of how corruption being called out should work. They doubled down and discredited the other side. By demeaning and belittling you show your "enemy" is less credible thus not to be listened to.
GamerGate was 100% right about everything. Its the world that’s crazy
@@NerothLoD You nailed it at "emotional frailty". I'd add 'weak and brittle'. Simply having a different opinion is taken as a literal act of violence.
Damn straight.
Thanks again Curmedgeon, nice to see you sir.
I would love to see 21 Kiloton develop the polar opposite of the ESG rating system, and then proceed to rate the entire video game industry.
OutsideXbox.
The fact that I am paranoid, doesn't mean that there is no one out to get me, in this case the video game dev studios and publishers.
LOL
What would happen if you rather go outside for a walk, a run, any other activity instead of playing broken video games made by malicious corporations?
That is also a thing you can do, but most people don't play videogames as a replacement of going outside and being active/social, or at least they shouldn't. For me and I guess for many others playing games just replaced the time I used to spend watching some boring show on tv (with my brain switched off).
As to the corporations being evil (no shit) and releasing shite broken video games, there's a metric fuck ton of older games that you can play either on your pc, old console or through emulation and a lot of them are incredibly good.
Thank fuck at least someone is being honest and not Sugar-coating all the bullshit game developers put out
There is a whole subcategory of UA-cam devoted to this. Mauler, worth a buy, etc.
@@kyle857lol Mauler
@@kyle857 Mauler, what a joke
Yep. Vote with your wallets. Use the high seas as a screening tool.
Another timeless philosophical saying that pertains here is: "You don't see the money until I see the stuff." ☢❤
Yes indeed.
Its a great shame that we have to treat video game publishers like they less trustworthy than drug dealers but there it is. There seems to be an absolute lack of will in the West to enforce consumer legislation with video games. I guess they know where to spend their lobbying money.
Good to see you mate.
Well said.
Good to see Kilo getting better and better with time. I look forward to every video with great anticipation and this one as usual does not disappoint. Thanks for breaking it down so well my brother..
couldn't say it any better than that myself.
The thing is they don't shill on every game so many folks get fooled
Juicehead was someone I used to trust until Redfall. He Shilled so hard and then tried to pretend he did nothing wrong. How any of his Fans trust him after he did that I dont know. Its no wonder they can be bought, they have Fans/Defenders who just ignore it.
@@Anonymous-bk3nj Yeah, he's a shill, for sure. Read whatever script a dev wants with enthusiasm for a pay day.
Jack frags has been a shill for awhile

Time you made some new friends.
2013 was the year I vowed to never pre-order a game (or buy it day-1) again. Two games from that year were responsible for this decision:
First, Aliens Colonial Marines.
ACM had so many red flags
I don't even understand the point of pre ordering when you're probably just going to buy a digital copy that's guaranteed to always be in stock
Cyberpunk 2077 did me dirty real good, never again.
"Swimming in a sea of Shi... arks..." When industry full of crap, one letter was enough to hear totally different word(s).

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS. Been saying this shit for the last 10 years
31:00 literally the best description for preordering I’ve ever heard.
Nice callout to Worth A Buy. He deserves more support
@@VersVlees well it's the developers/publishers that create the Fanboys it's not the other way around so no the problem originates with the publishers
It's stupid kids.. End of story!
And when UA-cam needed him most...he returned.
I was NOT expecting a special guest appearance from Dr. Rudi in this video.

Over the last few years I barely even look at AAA games anymore, and haven't really been paying attention to what's been releasing. I cannot bring myself to care after everything they've ruined.
Over time, more Bethesda merch would be displayed in the background (like certain exclusive merch only given to the creators that made a lot of positive Bethesda related content), more videos would be made talking about how Bethesda is sending review copies and flying him to this or that place to preview a game just like all the other big Fallout content creators…
Yea, he still gives his opinion on their games, and sure, some aren’t always positive … but how he relays information nowadays is totally different from how he used to be.
@SyntheticMan mentioned you on his video about Starfield. I'm glad I checked out your channel. Good stuff.
Notified 21 hours after upload.

In regard to buying games, my one and only mistake made was a early purchase of fallout 76. I did dupe items and make my money back in full using the absurd state the game was in and the fact there were people willing to shill cash for top meta guns, but never again would I buy a game early or take the hassle.

Nintendo is really the only big dev that you can still reliably count on. A lot of their first party efforts have been weak over the last couple consoles, but at least they haven’t gone full woke. SM main complaint is always ''why isn't all the characters white. It's gotta have some agenda''.

One of the reasons I respected the late TB, in spite of some of his failings, and let's face it nobody is perfect, was because he refused to review games made by companies he was involeved with financialy.

This is seriously the most honest video game related channel I've ever seen.
7:10 If a developer works on multiple (EA) titles. You are dealing with a scam artist.
Don't pre-order, wait at least a few days preferably a coulpe weeks, or get on sale.
Subscribed after a few minutes of listening to this. You’re unapologetic truth speaking earned you a subscriber sir. Good on ya.
A sane man describing insanity. Based.
Aaah its a good day when 21Kiloton uploads!
I came for the title, but stayed for the attitude! Great video, thanks mate
Man, thank you for calling out all of the bs going on with gaming industry. You sir, are spot on!
