Am I crazy? This is another one of those songs where I put on my headphones, crank up the volume to full and then sit back, maybe close my eyes, and chill. I feel like I am getting high on life.
The people in Europe are unbelievable how everyone is up on their feet jumping up and down. None stop and they are doing the oh oh oh oh. I wish I could go over to Europe and experience one of Bruce Springsteen shows with those people. They really really really do appreciate THE BOSS BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN THE MAN IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE
I've seen everyone. Led Zeppelin, Stones, The Who, Clapton, Grateful Dead, McCartney, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, U2.... all great NO ONE comes close to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. no one.
I traveled to Spain on this tour. His fans there and in Italy were more amazing than any of the 44 shows I've been to in America. Kind and wildly passionate!

The spectators of the current US concerts make mood like in the old people's home. I hope the atmosphere in Europe in 2023 will be similar to this concert.
Every time i hear this song I stop whatever I am doing, turn the volume up max and try to sing along. I fail miserably very time. I cry like a baby but tears of joy. No other song makes me do this. Considering that invariably every concert I have seen starts with this song, it sorta sets the mood for the next 3 hours. Pure joy. The Boss!
“I cry like a baby but tears of joy.” Exactly!! Our response, I think, has something to do with each of us recognizing the existential void ahead. Yet despite the inherent unfairness of life, Bruce musters the courage and says, while that might be true, I ain’t giving up. Many will drop, fall away with broken hearts. But as long as I have life, I move forward with others who endure. And then maybe, maybe one day I’ll spit in the face of these badlands. Sounds good to me. I’m in!!! The following is my encounter with Bruce Springsteen. Vancouver, Canada. October, 1995. I enter the change room of my gym for an afternoon workout. As I enter, I overhear two guys debating whether the dude they saw in the gym downstairs was The Boss (To myself, I said, ‘Are you f#@kin’ kidding me!!! Neither of you know if its The Boss?! Sheesh!!!). I change, head downstairs and who do I see banging out V-grip Tricep pulldowns? THE BOSS. Bruce played in town the night before. Side note: This gym had a reputation for making themselves available to musicians, actors and sports teams who were in town and wanted to workout. And 99 times out of 100, I leave people alone. I’m just not that interested. I was in the day Michael Jordan and the rest of the Bulls came in (Vancouver Grizzlies existed then). Never said a word to any of them, except for Dennis Rodman who, watching me skip, seemed like he wanted to borrow my rope. Anyway, back to The Boss. I couldn’t help myself. I drifted towards the tricep station and pretended to tie my runner. Once Bruce finished his set I stood up and started blabbing to him. All of it was the typical drivel people like Bruce have to endure: I love your music….What’s your favourite colour? I didn’t say that last question. :) But, trust me, it was embarrassing stuff. And Bruce’s response: It was as though he heard each question for the first time! Patient, made eye contact, smiled, thanked me.
Loafer Sheffield, same happens to me. Feel like a poor man, but this song gives me the energy no other song in the world gives. It stops the world running, no other thing exists when it sounds. One of the concerts in Barcelona starts with Badlands, I became aphonic just starting out. The Boss.

I came to Bruce later in life,(my 50's)......what can I say, I was more of a "prog" rock guy : ) Anyway I pulled this clip up,(thank you youtube) because Bruce mentions it in the book.......and I wanted to see Alex,(Little C)........Yeah I lost my shit. To see Bruce looking up at Alex during his solo was when I couldn't hold back......the pride in Bruce's eyes was overwhelming. Your on my "bucket list" Bruce........please, one more time.

I've seen him 4 times. FedEx Field in Washington, DC in 2003 was the best concert of my life, hands down. 3 1/2 hours of pure joy.
