Oh mate.. brilliant as I can totally relate to your story. I'm 33 and was diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADHD as a Child. Thanks for posting. Can tell you're smart guy.
Thank you JD, The Davis program really change my life. If you are struggling with your dyslexia or ADHD I would encourage you to contact a Davis facilitator and talk to them.
@@OvercomingDyslexia thanks Carl, I'll definitely get in contact at some stage prior to taking up any study. Many people don't ascertain the struggles we face and your story really resignated with me. I was always good with my hands like you, so I was lucky to find a full time occupation painting and decorating. I've worked in many other Industries, but I can't work in my industry forever. Wear and tear, injuries all start to take their toll. Thanks for the reply, Wishing you well. Many kind regards Joshua Martin
It sounds the teachers are not using a real researched tested reading program curriculum. The SRA Reading Mastery direct instruction developed in the United States does work. It is not site word method that does not work for dyslexics. It is a scripted phonetical reading method that teaches more then reading but at the same time a method of reading in a systematic logical way that building the students reading ability. The curriculum i currently use on my students is a faster parent version called "teacher your child reading in a 100 easy lessons."
Hi, from reading your post it sounds as if you have misunderstood me, my channel and the Davis method. If you would like to understand you could watch video number 19 which is the start of a seven part interview series. You might also find videos 11, 4 & 5 helpful if you want to understand.
Thank you for responding to my comment. I am very interested in you story and the journey that you continue to endure with dyslexia. I myself am dyslexic also and have similar struggles. I am a retired teacher living in Mexico and teaching English (language /Reading / writing / and advance English) to native Spanish speaking individuals mostly children. I continue to understand my own condition and my use this knowledge to help others with their dyslexia if I encounter this in someone with similar situations.
