3800's are wonderful operators... I've had mine in for a little over 3 years and it has never once failed me. I programmed 4 remote lights to it so that I never have to turn the garage light on (I used to forget it on overnight) Awesome garage, high sidewalls, beautiful.

2 of my 3 have now failed. Not very pleased.

Chip Degan I would recommend buying the new liftmaster 8500Ws. You might be able to use all the same equipment.

The thing I like about him is that the motor sound different when they go up and down each one sounds different.

Yes the third door has an opener installed. 15 ft ceilings for installing a lift. These openers are amazing. I do have the remote lights installed. they work great as well. I like everything about the openers. They are very easy to install and program. Way easier to install than any other door opener I have ever installed and I have a few under my belt.

Those motors are quiet, but they do sound different as each door goes up and down.

It's also weird to see such a modern garage and openers built 13 years ago.

Update on the doors. I have had 2 of the 3 door openers fail. The doors need new computer boards. These cost about $70 from Chamberlain. Defiantly worth it because without them working the openers are worthless. It is a simple install and took about 20 minutes with the unit still attached to the wall. Un plug the opener, take the cover off. transfer the wires from the old to the new board. Remove the old board, install the new board. Put cover on, plug in and program the opener and remotes. Not bad. Still think Chamberlain should sell the boards for less than $70 since its only a matter of time that they all fail.

Well it's been a few years now since I made this video. My openers are still working flawlessly and I love the fact that there is a built in deadlock. These openers are the best bang for the buck for sure. I built this garage so I could have 3 bays with the center one having a lift. I have had the lift for 5 years now and that was the another amazing purchase. I have been able to all the maint. on my own vehicles and have helped out numerous friends saving them money on their repairs. Great openers for sure.

    Another update.
Since the control board failure I have been having some issues with the other 2 openers. It is upsetting that the manufacture is not offering to replace the parts needed for the doors to work as designed.

    Important Update !
My control board on the first door has failed needing replacement. Do you think the manufacture should send me one free of charge or should I have to buy a new board $75 ?

I Wondering Why The Other Door Doesn’t Have A Motor.

    • @ChipDegan

Great question. The third motor was installed after the video was made. Then removed to replace the center door motor due to a failed computer board. Then the 1st door board went bad.
It’s been a lot of ups and downs.

I ddnt knw there was a Chamberlin version of the Lift Master Jackshaft. Lol, what kind of house do u live in to have openers like that?

  • @ChipDegan

Little update on these Chamberlain Liftmaster 3800 openers. I originally bought 3 openers. Now 2 of the 3 have failed requiring mother board replacement. I am going to assume that the 3rd one, which is the most used one will soon fail. I will have 3 doors with 3 broken openers. Chamberlain do you have anything to add to this issue ?

    • @bradenrobison1969
      @bradenrobison1969 6 років тому +1

Chip Degan you should just buy the new 8500w’s. They are a lot better than the 3800’s.
