I bought a little 4 inch FL Ghost pepper here in Polk County FL back in mid July. This thing is damn near 3ft tall and it's mid September now! No fruit yet but a lot of flowers! I have a feeling when it's ready to fruit I'm going to have an insane amount! I hope so at least! Beautiful plants brother!
Heey @Dave!! I tagged you in the 3 things I learned about gardening this Spring and summer seasons 2019. I always enjoy seeing your peppers! Thank you for sharing! Happy Sunday! Happy Gardening!❤🍆🍅🍓🍠🌽🍁🍂
Wow! Nice looking peppers!! Sounds like you got the same cold snap we got here. Still debating if I want to pull my Tabasco peppers yet since it’s scheduled to warm back up again. Decisions, decisions🤔. 😄. TFS👍🏾
Those plants did really, really well for you this year. Frost got us early and our 2 super hot types we tried never made it long enough except for one Bahamian Goat pepper pod. LOL Pay attention to that weather for sure. About 10 types we had growing were decimated without removing what we could in time. Thanks for the share!
@@DaveTheHillsideGardener Our yard is all container and we pulled them up close to the house but 2 nights of 12F in a row got all of them. :( No worries though. We had a great year overall and our environment is always a gamble so we are use to it. :)
This year was my first try at growing Ghost peppers, I bought 1 plant and transplanted it into a medium sized pot and after 1 month of growing I topped it and pruned it based on a video Kahng Star (Forgive me if I spelled it wrong) made. I let it grow for 2 months, it got bushy and dense however it wasnt growing any peppers, any buds it had it dropped, I went and bought a pot 4 times as big and transplanted it and the pepper almost immediately took to the new soil and grew 2 feet wider and a foot taller in a month and it began sprouting buds and eventually it grew peppers. I used Jobe sticks every 60 days and miracle grow weekly its now 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall and has about 70 peppers on it. Its a beautiful plant, but my only gripe is that whatever it grows no one I know will eat. I will eat 1 after it ripens I've always wanted to know the pain, but after that I'm not sure what to do with them, they're so hot that they can't be eaten
Congratulations on your giant plant. Yes peppers are limited in size by the container that they are grown in. Everyone needs to eat a ripe pod once just for bragging rights if anything.. it's true they are too hot to enjoy fresh I ferment mine and make hot sauce, also dehydrated and ground into flakes which can be used sparingly until your tolerance increases. Good luck
yours is spaced out really nice! mine is a bit smaller but i've over wintered now seeing signs of it coming back to life, hopefully i can get her to branch out to what your looks like, great work!!
Dave The Hillside Gardener southern california, any chance you've given apocalypse scoprions a shot at growing? i have some of those seeds and thinking about starting one up as well.
Hello @Dave I came accross this video and I must ask if you are still growing this ‘Florida Ghost Pepper?’ If so have you learned more about it, I’m really interested. Do you have any seeds?
@@DaveTheHillsideGardener Did you ever find out what it is crossed with? Is it the same shu as a regular ghost pepper? I don’t know why but I’m fascinated by this pepper.
@justplinkin4809 it tastes like a ghost but has thicker walls. It’s not thin and wrinkly like a standard Bhut. My guess is that the previous grower had some plants nearby that may have crossed with but I have no way of knowing. If you want seeds send me an email. My contact info is on my channel page.
That pepper did really good ! Sounds like your getting the same weather i'm getting . We just pulled a bunch of our plants up and left some to see what happened .
Well it does need rather warm temps. Is it in full sun ? Try to not let it get shaded out will help in your cooler climate... Also I use Dr. earth organic fertilizer, if you don't have that there add some blood and bone meal mix and work that into the top 1 inch of soil and water it in well... Hope this helps
That's awesome I'm growing one , it's one year old survived the freeze just getting about 30peppers coming out looks like it's going to be great lot's more blooming 🙏👍 Houston Texas lot's heat🥵🥵 gonna plant Carolina reaper 😝
You may notice flowers dropping from the heat. This is normal. Once it cools down a bit you should get a big flush in aug-sept or maybe even later as you're in a much warmer climate than me
The soil is very heavily loaded with compost and organic material. We also had a tremendous amount of rain that year. I’ve found peppers don’t fair as well in extreme sun. This plot gets good morning sun unto about 3 pm. And the shad the rest of the evening in the hottest part of the day. Give that a try and see if that helps

Yeah I imagine when it starts to cool off a bit down there they will start to set fruit like crazy. Thanks again

Thanks a bunch! It's been a great year for peppers, too bad the season will be over soon. Thanks for tagging me
Yup, my peppers are in a tent and are 5’x 5’ in 5 gallon pots with at least 50+ peppers red and green coming, nice plant.
That’s impressive

Yea I picked two full bags this morning. Hopefully we get another two weeks of no frost and the rest can ripen

Sorry your plants got damaged. Can you make a temporary low tunnel to protect what's left?

Wow! Those peppers are huge! This time of year is so unpredictable, weather wise.

Yep. 39 the other day. Gonna be almost 80 next week

you need bees to pollinate the flowers to make peppers , otherwise the flowers fall off . try planting flowers close to your veggies . thank me later
There wicked ghost peppers 🌶 👌.
Nice. Thanks
Dave your plant are big and beautiful.

Not the apocalypse ones. But I have done moruga and chocolate scorpion before. Be careful extremely hot
Dave The Hillside Gardener thanks for the heads up! cant wait for your next video, seems like you have super hots dialed in!

I didn’t grow them this year. I grew a white ghost variety this year but yes I din have seeds saved.

My ghost pepper is not growing after pruning it’s still 4 inches, what can I do to start growing. On pot in U.K.

is it growing in pot or land soil brother
They are grown in deep rich soil I have built up over 7 years. So in ground to answer your question
@@DaveTheHillsideGardener 😁thanks
its better to grow them in ground , they grow well along side other veggies at close quarters
@@rubixmantheshapeshifter1769I think it's better to have late ripening peppers in buckets if your growing zone has early cold spells.
I had a plant way bigger than that. She was a beautiful plant tho.
Very nice I love very hot 😋😋😋
You would like these then! Very spicy
