Christmas television was a MILLION times better then than what it is these days.
    No Soap Christmas Specials.
No Reality overload on television then.
No constant cooking/baking programmes back then.
Just ONE HUNDRED PER CENT pure FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT.
    Ohhhh how I miss it.

That's why quite alot of people are now refusing to pay their TV licenses (mainly because they know the likes of the BBC are pedo institutions and are used for propaganda) and are switching off. But I agree TV back then was far better than what it has become. I think the last decade for good British TV was the 1990s, after that came the advent of digital TV and freeview channels, more channels equals less quality. What made Xmas TV so special then was the soul and charm, particularly the voice over announcements and those simple animated effects they used, giving you a very warm and cosy feeling, and I always loved the use of the In-Vision announcements because you got to see who was behind the voice and they felt like they were part of your family lol. Another thing we didn't have then was the use of those annoying logos at the top of the screen (I believe the word they use for those are DOGS) which started to appear around the late 90s (though channels like UK Gold have used them for years) and those "Next week on..." announcements that intterupt the end credits on most programmes these days. TV has become very corporatised and soulless.

No constant liberal agenda either! It was there, but it wasn’t hegemonic.

Granada once again taking the reins for this year's Christmas network presentation, with Charles Foster getting all excited about the year's festive lineup.

Indeed - as we did in '84, with great, propulsive music again from Tony Waddington!

I've watched lots of In-vision announcements from the different regions, but none of them can beat the ones from Granada. The southern regions In-vision announcers all look like miserable sods; none of them have the happy look and sound of Charles Foster and Colin Weston, two of whom who really made the In-vision announcements that much special IMO, I think you could tell they really enjoyed their jobs. No wonder we Up North are generally regarded as more friendly and happy than the south.
