  • PSP Flare (originally PSP Flow*) is a tool designed for smooth and musical compression across a variety of tracks and groups. The base algorithm and inspiration for the compressor were provided by Paolo Pasquariello, a talented and gifted Italian post-production sound engineer. While it was specifically designed for film and TV/video post-production, its unique behavior can deliver excellent results in almost any application.

Brilliant demonstration as always. I could both see and hear it working wonders in the relatively extreme examples you used. I'll be giving this one a trial before the intro sale period ends.

Thank you for the video Marlon. I'm testing PSP Flow at the moment and I'm super impressed. It handles parts of the audio where the speaker overloaded the microphone very nicely and the character in the speaker's voice is retained better than when using my main compressor (previous favorite).

I really like the flexibility of the detector modes. But I feel the limit section is very squishy. I do like it when just kissing the limiter.

🤔is it possible to track vocals with this compressor? Love this by the way.

    "normal compressor"..... 😂😂😂

haha, yeah its clear they chose the most garbage overdriven compressor they could for the 'normal' but still, completely ignoring it, the PSP versions perception levelling was very decent.

I never thought I would think of you as untrustworthy with your reviews, but now I am starting to. Why did you distort the example of the normal compressor? Why don't you reveal exactly how the normal compressor is tweaked and, more importantly, the compressor itself? And why did you put the music background, which masks the subtleties while letting us hear the comparison?

is it me or the normal compressor used in the example sounds systematically saturated? And if I may, as a post production engineer, the quality of the take and the voice itself over shitty music does not provide a "in situation" type of mix. And only few actors will move away from the mic as a singer when being louder. All of the above make the demo irrelevant to me.

I think the idea is to use extreme examples to show what it does; rather than routine cases where it would actually be used, but where the benefit of it may not come through well given UA-cam's own audio algorithms. I found the demo very helpful in that way. The plugin can be trialled for a month so you can check it out on your own material; which is what I'll be doing. As you work in this area, I'd love to hear any recommendations you have. I'm guessing, though, that it would be less about the particular compressor used and more about how you use it..
