- Black smokes rise into the sky every few kilometers from Siversk to Toretsk. Behind them, if you climb to higher ground, you can determine the front line here in Donbas - in its "hottest" section. There are no operational pauses here, nor at least a few hours of silence or rest for the Ukrainian military. It is on this section of the front in several directions that the Russian Army is advancing. And here, Russians have some success. The Russian Army's tasks for the nearest future are to capture Siversk and Bakhmut. This front section is held by the 72nd Kyiv Brigade of Black Zaporozhians and other units. Since April, the former head of the Ukrainian National Police has been serving in the brigade - in the past, the colonel general of the police. Now - senior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Kniaziev. hromadske meets Kniaziev in Bakhmut while the city is being leveled bit by bit by Russian troops. And the enemy army itself is located 7 kilometers from this settlement.

I remember this guy since the time he was the Chief of Police - very intelligent, dialogical, analytical, brave and with a great sense of humour. He has a PhD in Law, as well :) He never backed down to politicians, so there were some smear campaigns against him. Also, he is ethnic Russian, born on the territory of RU, but as a child his family moved to UA, and remained. Great personality, heartwarming report!

I like the soldier that did the interview. Very reasonable, respectable, and intelligent.
What I cant wrap my head around is that ukraine and russia was once one country. Only 30 years ago under the ussr umbrella. But yet, every Ukrainian soldier interviewed in many different videos, are the most compassionate, worldly, morally guided, patriotic and dutiful citizens of any country. Has the state of russia turned Russians into morally bankrupt sheep in just 3 decades?
With they're necks out of the guillotine, Ukrainians have thrived and we all could learn something from such optimistic people, despite a history of repression.
I'd say that as far as relatively recent history goes, Ukrainians always wanted to be independent, while russians historically wanted to expand and subjugate. But yes, that's also what being under a dictator for 20+ years does to a country. Despite them having Western companies, despite them profiting massively off of the West, despite them having access to the same internet and information, they still by and large think the West is their enemy, that Ukraine doesn't deserve to exist as a state, and that their country and "president" are the greatest.
That kind of thinking is also historically as such.. they liked tsars (until they didn't), but then they got basically tsars under communism which they liked again, and they now like once more enjoy having someone who is factually a tsar.
Ukrainian population became normal in the past 30 years. Many older people (in their 70s, 80s) still brainwashed and they loved Russia. But this war is a huge awake call for them also.
So no, Russians aren't became evils in the past 30 years, they were always like that
@Paulie - to say that they were one country - not really so. Russia centuries ago fought many wars, and wanted it to be so, they always craved a warm water port. Russia has a huge landmass, but much of it (before the warming) is not easy to occupy, hence their eagerness to make surrounding countries into Relatives. My son married a wonderful Finn, and moved there, and their mutual history (Russia, Sweden, Finland, etc) is amazing, I’m just dipping my toe in.

The Sergeant was lovely to listen to, he showed true compassion for the people he is protecting. Not having their armed forces in the the town's so as not to jeopardize the citizens more because they suffer already makes the Sergeant a real 👑 Jewel to 🇺🇦.

What a cool dude. He reminds me of my father when he came back from the war. Thankfully his upbeat spirit and optimistic personality, made him not being affected by the war...
I especially love that last bit where he explains why is Ukraine capable of waging war against Russia. "You see, you have to carry 2 different bombs, one offensive one defensive, while with this European you have 2 in 1".. He said it all.. Superior Western military technology and weapon systems combined with the Ukrainian fighting spirit and ingenuity resulted in supposedly 2nd most powerful military in the world (prior to the invasion of Ukraine) being stopped and pushed back by the 42nd military on that same SIPRI pre war list.. Go Ukraine, there's a lot more weapons coming your way.. We won't let you down, we won't forget you. Despite the possibility of another flashpoint exploding into a full blown war with unimaginable consequences. Of course I'm referring to China's threat of taking down the aircraft that Nancy Pelosi flew in and invading Taiwan. All it took for them to calm down were 2 aircraft carrier strike groups entering the region and surfacing of the Ohio class nuclear ballistic missile submarine surfacing....

Constantly impressed by the Ukrainian people. I hope Germany will send us something more than hand grenades. For example, tanks, cannons, airplanes, helicopters to use them for offensive actions to get back our homeland. And will not buy gas from Russia in order not to finance Russia's war against Ukraine

На этих холмистых степях возле Бахмута до 2014 года, ФАУ регулярно проводила чемпионат Украины по авто кроссу, этой трассе уже 40 лет, проходил чемп. УССР, ссср, в 80х дончане Котэлло и Рыщенко становились чемпионами ссср.
І що з того, яка мораль цієї історії? Та що родючі землі України використовувались в совку не за їхнім призначенням

You are wrong politicians rule countries after being elected. If warriors stand and are elected all well and good but soldiers controlling a country is dictatorship. Ukraine doesn't need a Putin style strong man. Democracy never was perfect but it's the best governing system yet invented.
