You are truly my inspiration. I work 6am to 2:30pm and go to school from 5:30 to 10:30pm Monday thru Friday. It's exhausting, but I'm so determined to be a nurse.
The $20 for the cab was God. The reason I'm passing my classes is God.

"I don't have anything left to give". Pretty much sums up the entire healthcare profession. Your Starbucks and grocery prices are higher out east. I'm thinking nurses are probably paid more as a result. The west and east coasts are charging for grocery bags. I'm wondering when that will make its way to the Midwest.

If everyone is so stressed that they are taking drugs, committing suicide or shooting people, how is the country claiming that we are a success? It is ridiculous. Great, keep your bedside job. Not to discourage you but some psych nurses/ managers are so toxic and petty compare to acute medical staff. Don't be surprise if these psych co-workers appear to be unwelcoming and gossipy. Some of them dont even like foreigners and some are blatantly racist. Acute medical staff tend to be about business. Anyway, good luck in psych but if you find the environment to be toxic and unwelcoming, leave and stick to bedside. Your productivity will lag if experience workers in psych are laughing at you, bad mouthing you in front of patients, and deliberately avoid assisting you. Some of them who work in psych have too much time on their hands for gossiping and forming cliques. As i metioned before some of them don't like foreigners. Another advice, don't be in a hurry to tell them youre in np school. They might use it as an excuse to criticize you if there are any mistakes on your end. You'll see.
