No because you are basically living my dream life. A cute place with a black cat, having a stable job as a journalist, working at a station and feeling like I’m making a difference. Hoping that one day I can get to where you are.
@@ChitChatswithCharity I am pursing journalism! I just completed my first year of school (Dual enrolled so I only have three years of college) and I’m currently at my first journalism internship.
I'm in my second year as a journalist, my fourth year as a journalism major. But, I focus more on print than anything. I could not do what broadcasters/MMJs do. But, I do take all my own photos and have been dabbling trying to do more video content for our paper. I wish more people in my newsroom had your timeliness.
Hey! I’m a young journalist (not print) and I’ve been doing it a couple years (starting my own business) I’ve been looking like videos like this, thanks!!
I That this video was made 2 years ago but now I’m really interested in journalists! So watching your video made me know how really a journalist is doing, how hard it is and so so I’m really thankful for you to make this video! I hope I can make it as a journalist one day. And again thank you for making this video!
Very impressed with you sis, you got so much done in a short time, filmed Edited wrote a story and all that. Taking care of business like a warrior, very very impressive
This was just amazing! Very helpfully. I’m a recent grad and new to MMJ and there’s so much I didn’t learn in my classes. This was so helpful. Thank you so much 😊
Wow , what a well put together video , I want to change my major to journalism and this really helped me understand what the job actually consist of , thank you!!!
you're living my dream life! wish i could make it as a journalist like you. thank you for sharing such a fun vlog, looking forward for your other videos!
I’ve always wanted to be a journalist and this video made me want to even more. (Sorry if is not understandable, my English is bad) but I loved the video and your work seems very interesting
Hey Dolores! I’m so happy that this video encouraged you! If this is the career that you want to go after, DO IT! It’s hard at times, but it is so worth pursuing your dreams. You will grow and learn so much. And your English is great! Glad to have you watching my videos 💚
hi charity! first off its amazing to see your vibes and passion in your dream job. its honestly been one of my dreams to be a journalist since i was a kid. im a senior now trying to figure out where to go to college and what to study. what did you study in college? and how was the experience preparing to be a mmj?
Hey! There are so many colleges/universities out there that have a great focus on new journalism. I went to a school that only had a broadcasting department at the time. I’ve kept in contact with a great professor who says they’ve implemented more news industry technology and software since I’ve graduated, to help students be more prepared. With that said, my experience in college was a bit different. It helped me nail down the basics. I got my best experiences after getting my first job as a MMJ with on the job training.
it's 1AM and i just got off work. you popped up and i had to watch (as if i just didnt come from a news station). big respect for MMJs!! idk how yall do it edit: what sweet babies!!!
You can too. For so long I didn’t think it would ever be possible for me, but I didn’t give up. I pursued it, even when it was hard and discouraging. Are there any types of vlogs I can post that would be helpful for you when it comes to journalism?
I love writing but sometimes I can’t find the right words to say what I want to without mixing up or being too casual in my writing and that stresses me out and won’t help me. Any tips on how to handle it?
@@ChitChatswithCharity depends, sometimes i write m own, which is a lot easier since is less formal but for example when writig formal articles or essays about big topics like health or enviorment i mix my words and cant write straight to the point ideas and i get mixed up.
@@doloresfrontini6325 oh okay I understand. My biggest tip for that would be stick with the facts and research. That way you won’t need to come up with anything. Everything you need will already be there. That also means asking great questions during your interviews to get the information you need. As long as you ask about the who, what, when, where, why and how. The story should write itself. Now once you nail down the basics of writing a story like that, then you can work on creativity. But don’t juggle that all at once right now because that can add more stress.
Hey Caleb, I encourage you to create a reel and online portfolio, apply months before you graduate and start networking. It’ll take the stress of off you once you graduate to have job offers lined up by the time you finish school. There are news stations all over the country looking for entry level people to hire. I went to Southeastern University.
Thank you! Here are a few tips, I recommend going to a school that has a great journalism or communications department, but if you don't it's okay because you learn a lot on the job. Network, go to writing conferences, sign up for webinars and do as many journalism internships as you can. You meet a lot of people that way, you get connected with seasoned veterans who can help you throughout your journey. I can make a separate video on this to go more in depth if you'd like.
Hi Krishna, at my station we pitch several story ideas at the beginning of each shift. That are vetted and then selected by management. Then we go out to find the source that will give the information we need to do the story and that is what we write about. It could be economic development in the area, breaking news, education and the local school systems, healthcare in the area. There are so many things happening every day in the community that are stories people want/need to know about. Then as journalists we do the digging and research to make sure we're able to share those stories. Does this help?
U.S. Homeland Security in Houston, has a foreign group that work illegally the Black African Americans. Human Rights. The Texas State Secretary Jane Nelson. Allows the Anericans to live homeless.
This video was so helpful for me to see what the real process of a multimedia journalist is, (I’m studying that in university🫶), PLEASE drop us the link for that calendar!

Does the news station you work for have a preferred editing software? I'm used to working with all Adobe programs
When I first started, we used AVID and since last fall it's changed to Edius.

How often do you get stories?
In the news, multiple times a day. Where I worked 2-3 stories a day was required.
Can u do a video on the pay
Yes I will be posting it within the next week. I touch on it a bit, after you watch it let me know if you want something more in depth.
Good jod tt love u
