Although CD was also a good game in it’s own right, so I’m glad to see it was in the vid even if it’s gameplay accompanied the wrong game. Although CD gameplay also represented it’s own game so… CD is so cool it appeared twice.

Sonic Heroes had been my favorite for my PC for a long time. Managed to clear it 100% twice ^^ Generations was also awesome on my PS3 and Colors on my Wii. Here's to next 30 years of the Blue Blur!
Even though that I grew up with Mario first back then. I'd admire the Sonic games of how most of them were awesome. I'm glad Sega finally listened and gave us Sonic Frontiers. For a good 3D Sonic game. I agree with number 1 that Sonic 2 was an awesome game for it's time back then. I used to play this with my cousin back then. Good times and very nostalgia for the good and awesome Sonic games. Great list Watchmojo.
@jamie oiler haha I guess so. Personally not my favorite, id probably say sonic and knuckles! But yes 2 was amazing still, but I had the feeling cause so many gaming channels put it as the best one. Hell AVGN said it was the main reason he wanted a genesis
I do appreciate the acknowledgement of the handheld and side game content and not just main series console games like classic and unleashed. I feel spin offs should be in their own list because of different expectation and fun. Also Sonic CD footage is playing during Sonic 1 listing.
Sonic Frontiers was indeed a best seller. I was trying to buy a copy of it on Black Friday but they were sold out everywhere, and then I found out it was back in stock at the store that was selling them and a couple of hours later they were sold out again so I missed out on 2 chances to buy the game lol until I was able to finally find a copy of it and after I ordered it, it came like a week later and I was so glad I was able to get one, I have a total of about 5 sonic games now and I'm looking forward to playing them every once in awhile, with 2 being from this list. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic Frontiers.
I still remember playing as knuckles in sonic 2, I was blown away, i had the sonic & knuckles catridge & thought I’d inserted sonic 2 on top of it & I totally didn’t expect what was about to happen haha, must have been around 8/9 at the time
As a Sonic the Hedgehog 2 truther, it feels good to see it at number 1. But if I'm being somewhat objective, Mania should really be number 1, followed by Sonic 3 & Knuckles, then Sonic 2, then CD. CD isn't a bad game by any stretch, but the time travel mechanic and the lack of the spin dash make it a little less fun of an experience than the other 3 I mentioned. Sonic Mania is just so good, the biggest complaint anyone could have is that isn't enough "original stages". Hopefully one day we get a sequel.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles as a single game was the first Sonic game to play as a young child, it still holds something special in my heart till this day. Nice gameplay, vibrant graphics, appealing soundtracks (props to and RIP MJ) and other cool stuff. I also played Sonic R on my pc, I wasn't a big fan of racing games but it was fun. I played Sonic 1, 2 and CD on my phone. I loved the remastered soundtracks.
I'm just curious as to why Watchmojo didn't use gameplay for #5 Sonic the Hedgehog (1991). Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but the levels showcased were not from that game. Also, when Sonic uses a spring, he doesn't have that rotating animation in the original game.
A good list for the most part but personally I never understood people putting Sonic 2 over Sonic 3 & Knuckles. And this is coming from someone who's first game he ever played was Sonic 2. I felt Sonic 3 & Knuckles took everything that made Sonic 2 great and expanded on it. Has larger stages giving more exploration, elemental shields, more playable characters with more abilities, a better system for entering bonus stages without having to carry 50 rings, more stages and Hyper characters as the cherry on top. Not trying to start an argument or anything but I legitimately am curious as to why many people prefer Sonic 2 over 3 & Knuckles if someone can explain it to me
I'm in highschool and still miss playing sonic 2 with my little brother 😢 and Dr robotnics md was really fun but sonic unleashed scared me back when I used to play on the wii.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! The original Sonic game is my all time favorite. I had it back in 1991, when I had a console called Sega MegaDrive (Genesis).
I play "Sonic the Hedgehog" and played "Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed"! I also watched live streams of someone playing them, including "Sonic Frontiers". This game may not be on the list, but I played "Sonic and the Black Knight" with a friend at his parents' house, when I was little! They're great games! I love Sonic! I plan on playing the rest on this list if I don't have to buy any of them.
About that Electricity coming out of Sonic’s Body… Should have thought about that a long time ago especially in these top 20. Also never forget that Sonic is friends with Mario. Every Olympic Games, they meet.
I've noticed a couple of editing mistakes in this video. At the start of the video, it showed footage from Sonic Generations, but the text said Sonic Frontiers. Also, when you were talking about Sonic 1, the video was showing footage from Sonic CD.
Sonic Unleashed and sonic generations are my top 3D sonic games and best 2D go to Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic 2. The soundtrack for Sonic 2 I think is still unmatched to this day
A hedgehog who ran for over 30 years later and he kept running beyond his own company console and critics thanks to the people that follows him. Keep on running, hedgehog!
Gonna watch this later. If Sonic Rush ain't on here, I'm coming after everyone at Watch Mojo. (I'm just kidding around. Don't take my threat seriously. I love you guys and your content. Keep it up)
Sonic Adventure, Sonic 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic Generations, & Sonic Mania. Sonic has had a ton of hit or miss games, but Sega Knocked it out of the park with these 7.
Sonic CD have some of the best music in a video games period during 1993. Im still waiting for Sega to make a video game based on the toei animation of the sonic CD opening and closing cartoon
To me, Sonic Generations was and still is the greatest and best selling sonic game of all time and I'm happy that it's not only on the list of best sonic games, but also just about a month away will be the release of the remastered version of Sonic Generations but this time they're adding Shadow in the mix with his own story along with the third sonic movie coming soon in December this year, and I can't hold on much longer!?!
I can't believe that they used Sonic CD footage for the entire Sonic 1 section. Bruh. (They also called Sonic Generations "Sonic Frontiers" at the start of the video)
Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania are still the best of the series imo. Generations is easy and fun to go back to on multiple revists plus the soundtrack is amazing. Mania is also good because it hits the nostalgia nail for many of us classic fans and all the remix levels are fantastic plus its soundtrack is wonderful too. Generations and Mania can cater to almost any type of Sonic fan; new, classic and modern and be a great time. And Sonic Frontiers is a beautiful introduction to pseudo-open world play. It has it flaws but it's natural since this is the first time they've tried something like this but who cares? It's still a lot of fun and definitely leaves you wanting more for the future

Ummm your editor kinda used sonic CD footage for your sonic 1 entry 😅 other than that, great list! Though I'd personally put Frontiers top 3 at least
The opening isn't Generations either.
Sonic was The Part of My Childhood Games
Sonic Adventure 1/2 will always be my top. But man I LOVED Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble on GameGear and Tails Adventure, also on GameGear.
I think Sonic Colours will probably remain one of my favourite Sonic games just cause the music in that game is so good
About that Electricity coming out of Sonic’s Body… Should have thought about that a long time ago especially in these top

(Sonic Frontier - 2022)
(Used the opening from sonic generation)
Sonic Unleashed and sonic generations are my top 3D sonic games and best 2D go to Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic 2. The soundtrack for Sonic 2 I think is still unmatched to this day
Pretty good list. No complaints
My only problem is that when they were talking about the original Sonic the Hedgehog, the footage they showed was from Sonic CD
@@arthursnyder6935I noticed that error
@@arthursnyder6935I hadn't noticed that until now.
Sonic Adventure 2 at 4 is wild!
0:00 Nice Sonic Frontiers we got here.
Nice to see Sonic Battle made it on this list
Gotta go fast through nostalgia
♪Gotta go fast!♪
Gotta go faster
Sonic adventure 2 is my first sonic game and my favorite video game of all time!!
Sonic CD have some of the best music in a video games period during 1993. Im still waiting for Sega to make a video game based on the toei animation of the sonic CD opening and closing cartoon
Sonic Unleashed will always be my favorite.
I just beat sonic frontiers on Monday. I did not like some of the puzzles and mini games but I loved everything else I would give it a 8 out of 10
That game became a success.
#7 Sonic the Hedgehog...but showing Sonic CD gameplay...Reupload.
Other than that, this list is on point! Thank you WatchMojo!
My Top 5 imo
1. Sonic Unleashed
2. Sonic Generations
3. Sonic Colors
4. Sonic Frontiers
5. Sonic Adventure
I liked the 3D ones
We all need to talk to somebody in the editing department when yours were covering Sonic 1 that was definitely all footage of Sonic CD
I consider the dark era plus Frontiers to be my favourite Sonic Games
Sonic CD was so good, it made the list twice
I can't believe that they used Sonic CD footage for the entire Sonic 1 section. Bruh. (They also called Sonic Generations "Sonic Frontiers" at the start of the video)
I wasn’t expecting generations to be so low on this list 😭 and it kinda hurt cause it was a good game
Sonic Heroes is still my all time favourite Sonic game.
Let's blast through with sonic speed
@@jurrehuizinga7136 😃
Um, guys, you put Sonic CD footage on the number 7, not Sonic 1
9:57 If this is Sonic The Hedgehog, why is it showing Sonic CD gameplay?
I played Sonic adventures 2 on the GameCube, Sonic CD as part of the Sonic gems collection also on the GameCube.
Sonic Mania its my favorite Sonic game.
Soon Im gonna play Sonic frointers
Some sonic game has better soundtrack but it's cool
Brotherhood should not be in this list. At all.
Sonic 3 and knuckles will always be my number 1 and Heroes is my favourite 3D game in spite of its issues
They failed to mention that Sonic Advance 2 was the game that first gave us Cream the Rabbit.
I guess they don't care about Cream. But I'm sure they care about her.😞🥺
Lost World is the most diverse Sonic game, but this is also where Tails was at his worst and God knows what happened in Forces.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 became my very first game of the franchise 😍
sonic 2 is fun game
The sonic games I personally enjoyed the most are sonic 3, sonic and knuckles, sonic unleashed and sonic r
