    A lot of good points on supercharger upgrades. Most people don't invest enough time researching. Research is the most important part of a build. Best of all, it's free.

    I really like how you explained everything on this video, from all the technical points and why it makes little sense with a stock motor, I never thought about it like that, I thought that lag will kill the experience and you will go thru belts like crazy lol .. But how you explained it with the cobra crankshaft makes total sense. Thanks for video Danny! Great content as usual 🙏🏻

      Typically not (compound boost being both the supercharger and a turbo). It’s been done but it’s a complicated system. You’ll make enough boost on one or the other that you don’t need 2 sources

    I have a 3.4 Whipple on 30 PSI and I would have to agree with the turbo point. Car is very fun but thinking back i probably shoulda went turbo. The 3.4 is a PITA to work on, the removable inlet is key. If VMP made a 3.0 with removable i'd ponder that.

    Excellent video Danny! To quote a popular cliche', "bigger is not always better"! I've always been a fan of the whipple 2.3 and that blower along with the other popular brands in the same size range are easily capable of netting you a good 600+whp street machine setup. You don't need any more than that to have a strong, fun and reasonably safe street beast. I laugh at these guys that are having a pissing contest to boast the bigger, nastier blower. If they aren't educated enough to know the risks and dangers, not to mention the expenses involved in doing that, they will find out soon enough...the hard way! BTW, nice race bro!

    Hey Danny..Paul from Ohio..very good vid... I agree with you about the larger blowers...I have a 2.3 Whipple...4lb lower..and 3.25 upper...my boost is 20lbs...with the tune it has now..640rwhp...the shop that did my cams built 3 tunes...93 daily...93 hot..and a 100 octane race gas only tune...which I’ve not used..as 640 seems enough..when they did the cams..they installed an ARP head stud kit..I wanted a little more bling under the hood so I stripped the anodizing off the blower snout and pulley and then polished w/ Mothers aluminum polish..what a difference..I used Eastwood’s anodizing remover...anyway great vid and take care..😀.

    I have a question for you. I have a pretty much stock 02 Roush 360R. My question is, is the stock eaton m90 useless for getting more power? I was wanting to keep the Roushcharger and have some engine work done to increase horsepower, but I am afraid that the supercharger will be too restrictive. What are your thoughts?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 роки тому

      If you have the stock bottom end you'll be limited to 450rwhp, so I think that should be your max target (assuming you have a stock bottom end). That would be achievable with the m90 and full mods. The m112 on my brother's Bullitt was capable of surpassing 450rwhp but he also had a built bottom end. Before you go to the trouble of swapping the blower, consider doing so once you build the bottom end. Just my opinion

    I'm tired of the turbo/auto argument. That's all track crap. Not everyone wants or needs to run a number on the track. If turbo/auto is your plan, just buy a GT and build a motor or a Mach 1. • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, once ported it’s a great idea to go to 60# fuel injectors (assuming you’re still on pump gas. E85 would require even bigger as well as a fuel system), if you don’t have anything done to your fuel system you’ll probably need a better pump (assuming you don’t have a terminator fuel pump with twin pumps), add a boost a pump, plugs gapped to .030, and maybe a mafia maf extender or bigger maf. My brothers 10th had stock injectors, BAP, and no mafia and it was ok but pushing it

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  2 місяці тому +1

      I wouldn’t. Kenne bell made a small 2.1 kit that was both intercooled or non-intercooled, but you won’t get good results. Even worse, you’ll remove the knock sensors to make the lower manifold fit so you’ll have less control on pulling timing if it knocks. Terminators don’t have knock sensors so they pull timing off coolant temp and intake charge temp. Also, a 2.9 would have to be run with a 3.5” or larger pulley to keep the boost level down. Any more than 8-10 psi will make too much power for the connecting rods. You’ll want to be under 500rwhp

      @@TopMach1 a knock sensor listens/feels for vibrations in the engine that would be at a frequency where it knows the fuel is igniting before it’s supposed to. This is called pre-ignition or “knocking” or “pinging.” Once it determines it is happening, the computer adjusts the ignition timing (when the spark plug is told to fire). Terminators do not have them since the extra noise of the supercharger and not being advanced technology to run with a supercharger with how fast development was done on the 03/04 cobra. Ford later figured it out on the GT500. Most cars have knock sensors, but the lower intake manifold is not designed to fit with them on the mach 1 so you typically shave off the mounting area (“bosses”) when adding a lower intake manifold and supercharger for the mach 1
