      The fuel pump is the last stock part on my build as well. You literally have the exact same setup as me, down to the exhaust minus the DPs. I'm considering a walbro 450 as well.

      @German Elite Tuning What do you use for the B5.5 Passats? Can I add an inline pump to the existing system or do I need upgrade the intank pump? If so, do you have any recommendations? I haven't been successful finding any drop in upgrades. At this point I have a parts list for 300whp. Maybe I don't even need more pump....?????

    awesome video man! I just bought a 03 b6 1.8t Quattro from the dealership I worked at. currently working on some of the maintenance to the vehicle. I'm really happy I stumbled onto your video because I've been thinking a lot about doing some upgrades. it's really nice to get an engineer's perspective on things. I don't know a lot when it comes to Audi so I'm learning a lot by asking a lot of questions. you inspire me in wanting to go back to school and become a mechanical engineer. I cant wait to see the rest of the build!

    about the same passion, same job (mech eng canada) and can't decide the platform right now on my high power diy swap. 1st step done, I bought 2 wagon : A4 B7 and BMW E91, both manual, both awd. Id like to go 2.7tt in my b7, but high power goal are far without 15k$ in hands. N54 bmws seems to be more powerful and more reliable for the same power figure and bit cheaper. Anyway , right now Im looking all video and forums thread before choosing between a 2.7tt or n54. Your videos help me a lot. tks

      Hard choice in deed. Bmw can toggle awd/rwd and n54 sound like ish a 2jz. Very hard choice. Right now im asking lot of question. By chance the only current swap on audizine in b7 section is the guy in your video, so im asking few stuff. And hopefully see this built at eurokracy 2021

    Awesome video, love what all you guys are doing. Love the OEM+ design too. Thanks for taking the time to make these detailed, I'm in the process of doing a 2.7 swap + 6speed swap (02X) in my b6 s4 so this is extremely helpful. We're close in progress and design specs, and just thought I would drop a few ideas for what I'm doing. I got a great deal on F21's and and also decided on Bosch 633cc injectors, as Brad stated below the Walbro 450 pump is a solid choice, there is also a double 450 bracket that someone sells that allows you to easily run an additional fuel pump later.
    I was concerned about NVH and it seems the majority comes from the engine mounts. I decided on 034 Street motor mounts. I decided on a Spullen differential mount and 034 rear diff carrier mounts. Poly sub-frame bushings for me but I'm told the solid ones hardly make a difference in NVH. My friends told me to stay away from solid motor mounts.
    It sounds like you know what you're doing. You've made me check a few things I didn't think about..but just in case, here's a few idea's that may or may not help you.
    aux coolant after run low temp sensor
    USP Audi clutch line and metal slave conversion
    RKX camshaft timing chain tensioner pads.
    Keep the videos coming!

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 роки тому

      Great suggestions! You're not the first to suggest the 034 mounts so I'll definitely check those out. Same with the fuel pump.
      I've already picked up the coolant sensors (in that bag of goodies). The other two things (clutch line and pads) are something I've missed, so I'll dig into those as well. Thank you!!
      And yeah, definitely more videos coming!

    Love the basement shop it looks great! As for mounts I've personally run Stern mounts and 034 Street Density, on my SRM K24 car. 034's mounts definitely feel OEM and would be my rec for an oem+ build. Some JHM shift components (linkage/bushings) are also a great add imo!
    Great choices on the build looks beautiful!

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 роки тому

      Thank you for the kind words!
      I had completely forgotten about the 034 rubber (street / track) line of mounts. I think I will likely go this route, thanks!
      I've been debating the JHM trans linkage stuff... might have to pull the trigger on that too.
      Thanks again for the info!

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  Рік тому +1

      Thanks!
      It was a 1990 90 Quattro 20V and I decided to install a hybrid turbo T3 T04E Stage 3 with K26 turbine housing, huge compressor and tons of lag but hit hard up top. I also ran a regular K26 turbo when the T3 blew up once. Installed 034 standalone system and tuned it myself, blew it up twice (melted the pistons once and seized a main bearing at the end). Long story short, I ran it about 2-3 years fast and furious, had a blast and learned a ton. Eventually the body was rusting a lot and then the engine seized, I had just bought a house and needed to update the fleet (so I bought an 88 BMW 😂). So I parted it out. Great car, would love to get into another or maybe a B4, always loved the look of those.

    For the engine mounts - i used silver project mounts - cheap, but need to change hardware because they install 8.8grade bolts which breaks, orher thing is the car broke one of the engine mounts (passenger side engine lifts up, breaks bracket for engine/sway bar mount) i suggest you should upgrade it aswell, i used aluminum plates, welded on, lasted ok.
    And if gearbox breaks, use tdi gearbox. Mine shredded 1-2nd gear 2 times, installed tdi one, same ratio, longer 4-5-6 gears.

    Loved the video, very in depth to what anyone who purchases one of these should be doing during a rebuild stages. We've had our B5 for about 6 years now, and are looking to dust off our build series again. I think our engine is going to have to come out to really do it properly. Are you running a stock airbox on the car with the 3D printed MAF housing? We ordered an 034 intake over the holidays and are still waiting for it's arrival. Lots of folks run a Bosch 044, or a Walbro 450 fuel pump in their stage 3 setups. I think either of those will be the route we're going to take. Our car has K04's, but is missing some key components to be a Stage 3 car. We're definitely going to review the parts bin to see what similarities we have, definitely a few based on watching your video. BTW, we have RS4 motor mounts on our B5, and they are pretty chill on the NVH.

      Yes, stock S4 airbox, RS4 accordion, Hitachi sensor, 83mm ID, flow turbulence screen.. just hoping it holds up to underhood temps. I used ASA and based on some initial testing it should be okay but a more thorough test is required.
      Thanks for the part recommendations as well. I'm leaning towards the 044 pump but a walbro 450 just popped up for sale on Audizine for a good price... we'll see.

      Just with how tight that engine bay is with that hot V configuration. You’re gonna really lose your mind when you’re gonna have to pull everything apart. Granted if everything is healthy and ideal then you’ll have minimal blow by. But at the end of the day the valves are getting coated day by day. Every heat cycle just builds more and more carbon which greatly and drastically hinders performance as well as efficiency.

      Thanks for the feedback, greatly appreciated. I was considering balancing the rotating assembly... I'll definitely look into that some more.
      For the rods, that may be the case however for my current build I'm confident they will be okay. Depending on how the next phase unfolds (a few years away) I may consider alternatives. Do you have any links / info on failed Maxspeeding rods and at what level of power? Thanks!

      For the MAF, the part does require some post-processing on a lathe where the two ends mate up, so it's not really a 'print and go' type of design unfortunately.

    Your downpipes might not clear your AWE DTS. Be prepared to grind some material out. Go with stern motor mounts. Help your life out with a catch can. Other than that, looks perfect

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  3 роки тому

      I added up everything in the video (incl. Tires) and it came out to just over $10k. I still have a few things to get (fuel pump, mounts, rear main seal, other misc gaskets / hardware / hoses), so I imagine another $1500 or so on top of that. Keep in mind I went OEM wherever possible, including all my coolant lines and PCV spider hose, those were expensive but should last another 20 years. Hope this helps!

    You know how to count! ??? With the Bosch 044 fuel pump, you will be looking for pistons in the sump. This fuel pump barely pumps 250 liters per hour at a pressure of 3 bars. If you recalculate with boost and pressure in the fuel rail under 6 bar, then you get 180 liters per hour in general.
    With 630СС injectors it is complete idiocy to install such a pump !!!

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I learned to count when I was about 2 or 3 like most people. I almost ran out of fingers counting up to 4 bar on one hand, good thing I didn't have to go all the way up to 6 bar as you suggested otherwise I'd need two hands and a calculator, but last time I checked the Bosch 044 fuel pump delivers 265 LPH at 4 bar, which is more than adequate for my 630cc injectors at 54% duty cycle. Actually, I'm still using the stock fuel pump and believe it or not, fuel ratios on the current and modest 19psi tune are perfectly fine!
      Thank you for your feedback ; )
