I got to say this. This song MESMERIZES ME. I am not even kidding, I think I've listened to it 50 times today. I wasn't even motivated to listen to anything new today, I just wanted to hear this. Also, I feel like this version is played a bit slower than the studio version, no? I prefer this version. I went on an hour+ long google search for all the members just looking at old photos. I am very intrigued and fascinated by this song and this group as a whole. I LOVE DOING THIS!
P.S. zoom/panning to avoid blocks. Thanks!

Once you know the history between Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham, it puts a whole different perspective on the lyrics. The way they look at each other during the song you can't help but think you're hearing an autobiographical tale between the two of them.

Sal, I LOVE the way music touches you at such a deep emotional level. Your heart is open to it and you let it in. That is what music should do. And it’s one of the reasons I sub to you

My 3 adult daughters took me to see Stevie this past weekend in Charlotte NC!! It has been almost 40 years ago that I had seen her on her “Wild Heart” tour in 1983 👏🏼🎤♥️ I have to say other than losing some of her higher range the show was mesmerizing but my goodness at age 74 she is & always will be “one of a kind” 🎤🎼

she cast it when she wrote it. My dad played it for me on the B side when it came out when I was a kid and I made him play it repeatedly. This performance is every broken hearted woman's soul just poured onto the floor as she stares down Lyndsay and he can't look away - he knows what he lost. I watched this show when it aired originally - with my dad - and I don't think either of us could even breathe for a few moments when they finished. It was just that powerful. I just love watching people hear this for the first time. (this and Phil Collins In the air tonight live & Meatloaf's Paradise live.). This song is a gift that just keeps on giving. For every broken heart out there, this one's for you.

This is probably the most impactful live song I've ever seen. The prolonged stare between the two of them is intense. Honestly, I don't know how either of them could've carried on with the band after their tulmultuous relationship. I know I couldn't have done it. Stevie is one strong woman...and you can't help but see the hurt in her eyes. Fleetwood Mac never left the spotlight after their Rumours album came out and deservedly so.

It was choreographed perfectly with the lyrics...she taunted him midway through the song and Lindsey wouldn't give in until after they locked eyes and she laid it all on the line. Perfect mastery at capturing the emotion...such emotion !!! And nothing staged about the performance of any of the band members.

The intensity of Stevie shows that the words she wrote about Lindsey still ring true to this day. There is so much history between the band members that makes the fact that they stayed together so long truly amazing. I know Stevie was mad that this song was not included on Rumors album. All I can say is what an amazing time for music back in the 70's. This decade will forever be known as when music was at it's best ever, period.

I made mv wav up to the edge of the stage for the last five songs or so. When Silver Springs started up, I literallv had this thought: "C'mon, we've had such a nice evening. Let's not spoil it!" I felt so protective of their emotions! But of course so eager to hear mv most favorite song! It was so, so red hot and hostile, as it should be. As it is. On the second-to-last show of "The Dance" tour in Atlantic City, this song got very, very real. I was in the second row center watching them perform this song, but I could see that Stevie was really upset to the point where I could see her eyes welling with tears. By the end of the song, she was sobbing uncontrollably. It was so bad that Lindsey had to walk up to her mic and sing the final lines of the song for her while she stood frozen center stage with her back to the audience. He hugged her with one arm and kissed her on the cheek for what seemed like an eternity. At first, I thought it must have been some kind of schtick they performed every night. But as the stage lights went dark and the audio track for the next song started playing ("Tusk"), I watched Stevie go backstage to change outfits. I could see that she was still crying and I could see the very real tears reflected in the dimmed lights. It was no schtick. "The Incident" has been widely speculated in the Fleetwood Mac fan community over the ensuing years. The general consensus (again, based purely on speculation) is that 1) Stevie and Lindsey had secretly rekindled their romance during the Dance tour; 2) but Lindsey at the time was dating his wife-to-be Kristen; and 3) on the night of the Atlantic City show, Stevie found out that Kristen was pregnant with Lindsey's baby, which effectively shut down any possibility of a Stevie-Lindsey reunion. Stevie has written and recorded at least two songs that seem to be about their secret affair: "Fall from Grace" from Stevie's solo album "Trouble in Shangri-la" and "Thrown Down" from Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Will" album. As usual, her lyrics are somewhat obtuse, but when seen/heard in their proper context, you can totally understand the feeling of loss she felt at the time and, by extension, the feelings of simmering resentment that led to Lindsey's ouster from the band 20 years later.

It still amazes me that they left this song off of the Rumors album. It would have been the best song on the album. I am pretty sure Stevie wrote this song about her break up with Lindsay Buckingham. It is pretty emotional watching Stevie’s intense performance towards the end of the video while she was glaring at Lindsey. That was a very honest reaction. Good job Salvo.

  • @pupdon

She's said before that for a lot of her songs when she performs she goes back to the time when she wrote them and relives that moment. So when she's staring Lindsey down at the end and sings "you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you" you know she meant every word of it when she wrote it, and she did in that moment singing it. That's why it's so strong. And the fact that his solo career never took off as big as hers did and he always had to go back to Fleetwood Mac shows why you never mess with Stevie Nicks.

It’s rock and roll opera. It exists on both of those musical scales. It has the narrative movement of a full-scale opera compressed into less than five minutes. And then played by one of the best rock-pop-blues-country-whatever quartets ever. Drums. Bass. Piano. Guitar. Supporting the Diva. And then the Chorus kicks in with those Harmonies! And then we have the killer Aria at the end.

Stevie wrote this song for the guy standing right next to her, Lindsey Buckingham.
This was written as they were touring, and driving through Silver Spring, MD.
You could be my silver spring
    Blue-green colors flashin'
I would be your only dream
    Your shinin' autumn ocean crashin'
    Don't say that she's pretty
And did you say that she loved you?
Baby, I don't want to know
So I'll begin not to love you
    Turn around, see me runnin'
I'll say I loved you years ago
Tell myself you never loved me, no
    Don't say that she's pretty
And did you say that she loved you?
Baby, I don't want to know
    Oh no
And can you tell me was it worth it?
Baby, I don't want to know
Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could have loved you
But you would not let me
Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you
    Give me just a chance
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
    Was I such a fool?
I'll follow you down til' the sound of my voice will haunt you
    Give me just a chance
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice
