Shaolin is such a good Hybrid, and was a unique one that had Reflex Guard, meaning he feels more Assassin-like. He has a complex kit due to his Qi Stance mix-ups. During your Qi Stance Heavies, you can even feint your attacks at all sides, including the Side Dodge Heavies. His Qi Lights also have Crushing Counter properties. Shaolin also has a Deflect that can be followed up with an Unblockable Heavy. Overall, Shaolin has the capability to be an A-Tier Hero in For Honor, both in Duels and 4v4s, due to his intensive mix-ups and good Feats that have a lot of utility. He is a good Hybrid to pick, if you main an Assassin Hero prior before thinking about buying him with Steel. A nice guide for our monkey monk, especially with his new Skin coming around the corner.
I love shaolin. He’s so fast, like you said like an assassin, but he can switch up to offense similar to Highlanders in one click, which I think is where the “hybrid” part comes into play. He’s not only so powerful but just so unique and fun
Do that in combos and mix ups and you can cc with a flicker light it is hard to do but it is super super useful at high levels plus you can actually find the flickered heavy into opener kick or other stuff!
Another property of Qi trap most people dont know; you and your teammates can lock on to enemies through the wall. It's supposed to be symbiotic with his t2 teleport. For example on breach in one of the maps you can put it on the healing point to teleport from the ram through the floor to to the dude trying to heal instead of walking around and rolling away from minions. Good video though
@@TheGamingRaptor_ lemme come with you some time, i'll bring another qi trap. I wanna get a few clips of it to help spread awareness. I haven't used it much there, but Im wondering if you can tele up to the cauldron if someones there
One thing worth to note,is that Qi stance lights on the side have a slightly bigger hitbox than one might thing. If an enemy is breathing down your neck on the side,it is most likely to hit, even if they block it, it is enchanced
After getting dogged on by a shaolin I was inspired to pick him up and it was fun. Now I wanna get better to help my friends and not throw for using a new character.
i think the zone is very useful for dodge punishes because it has a very wide range but thats as long as you cancel it after the first hit because it gets really predictable after the first hit. and i always follow up with a gb and they always fall for it lmao
His damage is a bit overtuned with how oppressive his kit can be. Overpowered? No. Just really strong in a game where the power balance is from the floor to the ceiling. Any hero with a burst-y kit and a lot of special properties on their moves is powerful. Shaolin just has a tonne of access to special and highly rewarding moves. He is not an "honest" character.
Im rep 18 so not really really Good at the Game and i Play Mainly Warmonger and Pirat and sometimes aramusha do you think I should buy Afeera or shaolin.i want a flexible Charakter that is reliable and good for 1v1 and dominion so what would you guys recommend?
i dont think shaolin would translate well from the heroes you usually play but he is extremely flexible, just be prepared for a much higher difficulty curve
@@derekmccarter8543 Bro this was 7 months ago I bought Shaolin and he is the best hero u ever played and I got very good with him I don’t play the game anymore though
while in Q stance, if im holding it in one direction lets say left & my opponent throws right, can i switch my direction to right as he's throwing right to deflect it ?
you can change your direction while holding qi stance, but you cannot change it once you have attacked from qi stance. the flicker tech just throws a false indicator but doesnt change your attack trajectory
I’m bad at the game but Shaolin seems entirely too slow I mean sure if the dude sucks and stands still you can land a light over once a fight but that’s my biggest problem I can’t even hit decent players once without it being a dodge

@@SkyNinja759 I think u just defined OP.
The game brought me to this comment. Thats says something.
Let's be perfectly honest every character is either op or absolutely trash with like 2 exceptions lol
But he's fun to use
His Qi stance is also good for dominion when you take out the little soldiers his zone is good for it to
Yup
youre better off using unlocked heavy > light > heavy > light > infinite for mobs
3:08 HUUUH!?!?!? i thought the sweep only came out after you used heavy or light, i didnt know you could you use it after the kick
You can do it after the kick then light and you get the sweep

Step 1: Kitdump the enemy Warlord
Step 2: Beat the enemy Warlord to 1HP
Step 3: Get guard broken once and ledged as I laugh at you
my new main since he has the Great sage armor

You can crushing counter or simply dodge > deflect while in Qi stance

Dodge Foward kick into double side light into QI Stance to open the ennemy, then Mix-Up.

how do you do his zone attack
Every character has the same zone input, pressing heavy and light at the same time, dont forget to feint it as its easily punishable
