Dealership are there to make $$$ they are going to offer you as little as they can get away with for your car. You have to set a fair price in your head and know when to walk away if they don’t offer you what you want. They aren’t called stealerships for nothing.
Yeah for sure! You should have an understanding of what your vehicle is worth which is why we listed a couple different resources to check out too! At the end of the day, dealerships are a business and are trying to make a profit - if they didn't, it wouldn't be a very good business model haha. However, the trade value the dealer gives should still be fair and reasonable to the customer based on vehicle and market conditions!
Great advice! Yup that tax advantage may offset any additional money earned from a private sale. Just gotta do that cost-benefit analysis. Trading in is the most painless option
Going to a Kia dealership today looking at 2 different vehicles good thing I know I have positive equity in my car… too bad I’m not in Canada I would definitely come visit you guys
The topic that you get when you take trades is how far you push of people being up-side-down on their "transaction package" and you sense they do not have understanding at all about the pathway they are setting themselves up for.
13:50 will see if you mention, but I always wanted their take on taking it to the auction or having a customer or planning to put it on their lot. It should seem logical - as I had a good idea and it seemed to flame if they were not being transparent.
Greetings from oakville I used my 2007 honda element for a trade in back in 2019 as I wasn't comfortable with the idea of selling it privately or give it away to a local high-school for shop class curriculum program thanks for the presentation and enjoy the day
There is the advantage of trading in the vehicle at a dealership, which I am not sure if it was mentioned, is that the sales tax would be on the amount of the difference in price between that of the new car and the trade-in value. Hence rather than having the sales tax on the whole amount of the price of the new car, it would be a smaller amount. However, this would work well in your favour if you get a decent trade-in value
This was so timely as I'm going through this with my plan to buy an EV9 GT-Line. How much is a reasonable dealership profit? Even though my car is in great condition and has low mileage (2022 Sorento PHEV SX peral white/blue interior with 33.700 km) dealerships seem to be taking advantage of the reduced EV9 inventory and offer low values according to KBB, AutoTrader and Carfax, Gotten to a point where I may keep my car until there is more aupply/competition is stronger.
Thanks guys bc of this video I got what I wanted for my trade in got into the car I wanted a 2025 sportage x line prestige in shadow matte grey with the all black emblems and blacked out wheels picking it up tomorrow
Back when I worked at a Chrysler dealer - the used car manager told me when a used Wrangler came in - that he grabbed me and and car to get the "ego owner" out of the conversation and he told me 99.9% of Wrangler are owned by people who have no real understanding and the drivetrains will be damaged from intentional but usually "in ignorance" damage and they will go on an on pointing finger everywhere on the reality not being the reality.
Thx for today's podcast...(helpful info.) have a great day to both of ya geniuses ladies and you look great at the age of 32 😂 (I was outsmarted by charlotte & gabi 23) that's awesome 👌 👏 👍
It means that there was a claim on the vehicle that cost $30, 000 to repair. Generally a "hit" means it was an accident claim, but it could be vandalism or other damages. I hope that helps!
when you negotiate trade-in, do you negotiate with taxes or without. I happened to negotiate trade-in, and then at the end, it turns out that it includes tax, which means trade-in is actually less. Like they say, we can pay this much and we never talked about taxes till the end
Typically, we will show both. Usually we start by telling the customer what their trade is valued at and then show the tax advantage on top. If they are financing or leasing, the value shown will be based on the trade value + tax advantage.
Yes and no. Having an extended warranty contract allows you to have your vehicle fixed and mechanically in great condition. Typically this means lower reconditioning costs for the dealer and a higher value for you. However, at the dealer level, the extended warranty contract is not transferrable. If you want to sell your car with the contract on it - it would have to be sold privately and transferred into the private sellers name.
A dealership I visited had an assistant manager who refused to tell me the price of the car & refused to look at my trade-in unless I promise I will buy the car from their dealership. 😆🤦♂🤦♀ Luckily it happened because I found a better, more professional dealership.
You can't win at the dealership. No matter how smart you think you are they have 100 more tricks you don't know about, you are going to lose. Selling to someone you don't know can also be scary so I take cars to CarMax to sell them. I don't get top dollar but it's better than trade in (because of the back end tricks) and it's quick and easy. During the pandemic used car prices got crazy and CarMax gave me more money for my 43 month old Malibu than I paid for it! Wow, that will never happen again, once in a lifetime deal. It's the only time I ever made money on a car.
It can depend on the dealership that you're working with. Unfortunately, there are a lot of dealerships that have been known to take advantage of customers and give the auto industry a bad rep. I will say - we do our very best to treat our customers fairly, which is also why we do these videos to help keep people informed (especially if they're not working with us :) The pandemic was certainly a crazy time! We were also paying a lot more for customers trade-in! It just emphasizes the role of economics! Thanks for watching!

Why don't you stop. Now you are talking nonsense. Leave these girls alone. They are doing a way better much job than you can. Need to look yourself in a darn mirror and speak for yourself because you not be funny yourself
Happy to see Gabi survived her birthday😊

Yes I agree. Like the girls said it’s a business.

Sometimes it's better than dealing with random strangers off marketplace lol
5:00 - smoking is like a gel or light grease - it can never come out of cloth -- even plastic absorbs it.

For sure - you need to look at the facts and make a decision from there. Facts are your friends!
Excellent job girls!
Thanks!

One thing not mentioned but I'm curious about: If my car has a still valid extended warranty purchased when new, does this make the dealer pay more?
Good to know..appreciate the infor
Any time!

What does “30K hit” mean?
It means that there was a claim on the vehicle that cost $30, 000 to repair. Generally a "hit" means it was an accident claim, but it could be vandalism or other damages. I hope that helps!
Any idea if or when the EV3 or EV5 would hit the Canadian market? Which one is likely to come first, anything planned for 2025?
i've used carmax who gave me more than the dealership.

does extended warranty on the trade-in affect the trade in value?

Man - that's crazy. Sorry to hear that they tried to do that to you. Good for you for recognizing the red flags and getting out of there!
@BrantfordKia I subscribed to the channel when Peter was the host. When I walk into a dealership, I expect the same professionalism as you ladies.
7:50 - the common comment of the used car manager - "how much gas is in it".
1:30 I thought we couldn't handle the truth ....
