@@tinolangmanowk8258 based on your lecture, would you say that tagalog and its variants are dialects of the the Filipino language which is officially recognized as the national language? just curious, coz i’m also confused 🤷♂️.
@@ryanbuenviaje5809 Hello, so yeah I will try to explain it to you in a way that is most consistent and true to the field of linguistics, since the Concept of "Filipino" is born of a political/legal context. Technically speaking, "Filipino" is the Manila variant/dialect of the Tagalog Language, which was elevated into a national language status by president Quezon. It was a more standardized version of the Tagalog language. But it is still Tagalog, together with the Batangueño, Laguna, Bulacan, Mindoro and other Tagalog dialects. Now it is important to note how "Filipino" came to be, and how it was supposed to look like based on the constitution and the KWF. Originally, the plan was to make a national language based in Tagalog, but is to NATURALLY EVOLVE away from the Tagalog language, and become a whole new language that is different from Tagalog. How are they gonna do this, you ask? They aim to do this by introducing/borrowing words from other PH languages and English hanggang sa dumating sa point na it (the Manila dialect of Tagalog) becomes a whole new language. But the question is, did Filipino/Manila Tagalog deviate from its Mother Language Tagalog? No. Words like "Kompyuter" and such are added to the language, yet the grammar, semantics and everything is still Tagalog. Also, the other dialects of "Tagalog" have evolved also and borrowed a lot of words from english and spanish the same way "Filipino" did. Speakers of "Filipino" and native "Tagalog" speakers could still understand each other, right? So yeah, "Filipino" is still Tagalog and technically just a standardized version/dialect of Tagalog. But is Filipino a different language from Tagalog? Linguistics would say No. :) Pasensya na po napahaba nanaman haha :)
@@tinolangmanowk8258 Your explanation is perfect! If KWF really wants Filipino and Tagalog to deviate from each other, they do need to change some grammatical features of Tagalog. It's like KWF is making a conlang. I think KWF's goal of making Filipino and Tagalog distinct is way too forced. Even adding vocabs from other languages such as "bana" and inventing new cognates from other languages such as "kalimbahin" are also forced for me. It will probably take hundreds or thousands of years for Filipino to diverge from Tagalog.

Verse 2: If you think EZ Mil only speaks one language You will never get far in life Ask God for mercy (Kay Bathala ka sisingil) ----- Now when he says the next lines, it doesn't make sense too much in Tagalog but I think it's all wordplay to secretly say "Motherfucker" which is "putangina" based on what he emphasized: uTANG NA galib sa loob (debt from within) LumuTANG hiNAin sa Turon (rises, wrapped in Turon----filipino dessert) puSANG siNAing sa (kitty boils the rice) He consistently used "TANG" and "NA" rhyming pattern twice in a row making you think he's gonna end the bar the same way, but instead he starts the third line with "pu" So first I thought he would say "putang" and then "Ina", but he played with it and said "pusang" "sinaing" Feel free to listen to that part again to hear how he emphasizes certain syllables, he even smirks at the end of that bar and says "huh?" Before rapping in Ilokano ---- Mag ilokano ka !(speak ilokano now!) (IN ILOKANO) EVEN THOUGH I TOLD YOU MOTHEFCKER IM JUST WAITING FOR WHOEVER WANTS TO COME FOR ME WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BITCH AND CRY TRYING TO GIVE ME ADVICE DO YOU WANNA GET MURDERED WITH THIS PADDLE Sikayo nga ang-amin (all of you in Ilokano) Lahat kayo (all of you in Tagalog) All of you Ever since bata ako (ever since I was a child) .... ....
Pasensya na po napahaba nanaman haha :)
@@tinolangmanowk8258
Your explanation is perfect!

You have to react to his song "Idk" i freaking love the bars, he also made a 24-bar challenge video on his youtube account which gives off Eminem vibes. He's by far my most fav artist in the Philippines when it comes to versatility. He can be next to KZ imo. Guy can dance, can sing (kinda sounds like Shawn Mendez 💀) and can rap as fast as Eminem. Also fun fact: his dad is a lead vocalist/guitarist of an old Filipino rock band and EZ Mil sorta has beef with him (he has a song about his dad on his album). But he still considers himself more Filipino than white.
I learned all that when i fell the yt rabbit hole after that performance 💀💀

Cariñosa - is a Filipino Folk Dance that uses hankerchief and candles, thats why he wore a hankerchief on his shoulder. He used 3 different languages in the song, Filipino (Tagalog) English and Ilocano (1 of 172 languages that we use) 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
No, Cariñosa uses "Abaniko" not "Candles"
"Pandanggo" uses Candles. Also, that handkerchief on his shoulder is the Philippine flag I believe.
No hate.
It's not handkerchief on his shoulder. It's a Philippines flag. Naku!
He used traditional folk song for dance, and updated it his own. Genius.
The erie “bells” in the background with the carinosa Spanish guitars is literally our aboriginal culture and Spanish cultures clashing. The bells are reminiscent of the tempo of some of the music of our oldest tribes which is mostly gong aka metal drums music.

SONG TRANSLATION:
Mga Kababayan (My People/fellow)
Turn up!
Chorus
We are Filipino
No matter the skin colour, we are one
Tagalog, Bisaya, or Ilokano (Filipino languages)
No one can defeat the strength of our blood
Declare our victory loud/proud
Don't talk about the negative things
Wherever you are in the world
Let's go to tomorrow, WIN/Victory!
Verse 2:
If you think EZ Mil only speaks one language
You will never get far in life
Ask God for mercy (Kay Bathala ka sisingil)
-----
Now when he says the next lines, it doesn't make sense too much in Tagalog but I think it's all wordplay to secretly say "Motherfucker" which is "putangina" based on what he emphasized:
uTANG NA galib sa loob (debt from within)
LumuTANG hiNAin sa Turon (rises, wrapped in Turon----filipino dessert)
puSANG siNAing sa (kitty boils the rice)
He consistently used "TANG" and "NA" rhyming pattern twice in a row making you think he's gonna end the bar the same way, but instead he starts the third line with "pu"
So first I thought he would say "putang" and then "Ina", but he played with it and said "pusang" "sinaing"
Feel free to listen to that part again to hear how he emphasizes certain syllables, he even smirks at the end of that bar and says "huh?" Before rapping in Ilokano
----
Mag ilokano ka !(speak ilokano now!)
(IN ILOKANO)
EVEN THOUGH I TOLD
YOU MOTHEFCKER
IM JUST WAITING FOR WHOEVER
WANTS TO COME FOR ME
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BITCH AND CRY
TRYING TO GIVE ME ADVICE
DO YOU WANNA GET MURDERED
WITH THIS PADDLE
Sikayo nga ang-amin (all of you in Ilokano)
Lahat kayo (all of you in Tagalog)
All of you
Ever since bata ako (ever since I was a child)
....
....
"You're so white, tisoy (slang for someone who is half white, although its not a slur)
I'm not white, I'm Pinoy
Nobody will ever look at me the
Same way again
I'll make it to the top while I be showing
Naysayers and
I been winning ever since
Lapu (Lapu-Lapu is a national hero who defeated Portugese Explorer Magellan) was beheaded in Mactan
And everyone got hurt
When they learned the death
Of their national hero (bayani)
On the shores of our nation
That we own as Filipinos
Despite any turmoil
I'll be proud of my soil
Why? Because (bakit? Kase)
Ending Chorus
Did you just wrote a dissertation?
