Back when you went to the arcades and they had way better graphics than your nes or super nintendo. When dreamcast came out it made arcades kinda eh. You'd go for the social thing and be out and about, but the days of going to arcades went away, in America at least.

I played this when it hit arcades 32 years ago. I've played a lot of wrestling games since then - but none has ever been close to this one for enjoyment!
I usually play Earthquake and Warrior. Quake is the only one who has a splash and a continuing hold for finishers and warrior's flying clothesline is lethal.
Loved using Hogan as a kid when this game was in my local arcades, but I have a huge appreciation for Ted nothing is more satisfying then "putting you to sleep with my million dollar dream!" Even though technically that is a cobra clutch which is what Slaughter originally used, what the heck is Slaughters finisher in this? I know he was going for the Iraqi sympathizer at the time and I know he used the camel clutch, I don't recall him using that knuckle rub move he uses in the game

Demolition Crush's finisher was the tilt-a-whirl backbracker, not the neckbreaker. Warrior also had a flying shoulder tackle special move and Earthquake had a bearhug. (Best two wrestlers to pick in the game for these extra finishers)
Wasn’t in the game, sadly. I think that’s part of the reason LOD isn’t playable in the original arcade: the system would glitch if their finisher wasn’t done in the proper spot.

I think there was an extra move for Hulk Hogan where, when he's getting pinned, a contract appears with the words "That don't work for me, brother" on it. Hogan then kicks out of the pin attempt, mounts an implausible comeback, wins the match, and poses for ten minutes.
This game brings back so many smiles to my face! Lost too many quarters on this game but loved every bit of it. Love the old school stuff you do Acid... you keep doing what you do #lastrealyoutuber
Quickest and easiest way to defeat the LOD. Use a starting man who uses a standard body slam for his first move (Hulk, Warrior, Earthquake, Bossman etc.) When the match begins lure Hawk (who will always start first) as close to the ropes as possible. Throw him out of the ring, immediately climb the turn buckle and jump. This will sometimes miss but more often than not you'll land it. Quickly pick up the steel steps and hit him as soon as he gets up. Pick up the steel steps again and repeat this as many times as possible as this does a ton of damage. Just don't take too long and be mindful of the 20 count. From here you can easily pin a drained hawk or you can sometimes win the match by count out if you can hurt him enough and get back in the ring before him. I've done this before starting the match on almost 0 life.

Someone needs to tell WWE to recreate this game on ps4 and Xbox one with all the legends and current wrestlers on it. It will generate alot of profits from the old and young fans.

@joe77andino Yes his finisher was the Cobra clutch, but that submission move was actually his finisher for a short while in 1990. I guess they decided to give him that move since DiBiase was already doing the clutch.

This was the 2nd arcade version. They did make another version for arcade with Undertaker,Heyman,Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon,Yokozuna, Doing the Clown. That game was really hard to play and they made it like Mortal kombat.
There are a few moves wrong. Hawk uses the neck breaker, not a back breaker. Demolition don't have the Demolition Driver or whatever they called it. The Boss Man Slam isn't quite right.
Fun Fact - all of the characters in-ring outfits were patterned after the WWF Hasbro Action figures, as it was explained by the developers in an article I read years ago.
This game was awesome! Graphics were amongst the best of their time, and seeing our favourite WWF superstars performing their finishers was just amazing 👏🏽💪
But the characters, Promos and story telling were TOP NOTCH. I could give 2 shits about Drew Mcintyre beating Brock for the title. Because we have seen Brock lose 100 times by now. But when Warrior beat Hogan at Mania 6 NOW THAT WAS AMAZING.
Ultimate Warrior and Ted Dibiosi was the best combination! They had the most moves. Crush was runner up because u could use him alone in royal rumble mode.
Warrior was by far the best character. He had Hawk's flying clothesline and and Animal's power press. They basically combined Hawk and Animals move's into the Ultimate Warrior. My and my uncle used to destroy everyone in the early 90s at the arcades with this game. We took turns being warrior, and the other one of us would be Dibiase or Mr. perfect. Incredible memories!
For Wrestlefest, it was Warrior. For WWF Super Stars, it was Savage for his flying clotheslines and Big Boss man so that Savage doesn't get Boss Slammed when attempting flying clotheslines.

I was 7 when I first seen this game. It was at walmart. The sounds coming from the machine had me mesmerized before I actually seen it was a wrestling game. I had recently discovered wwf wrestling & that was my reason for making it through the week!😅 There wasn't much going on in '91 so going to my local video store & renting 2 WWF events on VHS was LIFE!! Oh.. & getting beef nachos from the cafe next door. Being a poor 90s kid was pretty cool. I could never afford to play this game much but when I did it kicked my ass so fast. The assholes who set it up surely put the difficulty on Hard AF to steal all your quarters. Luckily I was able to get a SNES but this game always held 1st place in my mind.
I used to rent the WWF special events from video stores and watch the WWF on Saturday. I also spent so much money playing this game with my friends. It was more fun when my friends and I learned to tape quarters on strings and we played for hours.

Sgt.Slaughter was one of my favorite wrestlers in the game. I used to make him jump off the top ropes like Jimmy Superfly Snuka.
Major points for a tag finish, and slaughter has the generic head squeeze probably because debiase has essentially the same move

There wasn't much going on in '91 so going to my local video store & renting 2 WWF events on VHS was LIFE!! Oh.. & getting beef nachos from the cafe next door.
Being a poor 90s kid was pretty cool. I could never afford to play this game much but when I did it kicked my ass so fast. The assholes who set it up surely put the difficulty on Hard AF to steal all your quarters.
Luckily I was able to get a SNES but this game always held 1st place in my mind.
I used to rent the WWF special events from video stores and watch the WWF on Saturday.
I also spent so much money playing this game with my friends.
It was more fun when my friends and I learned to tape quarters on strings and we played for hours.
I’m just amazed that, for that time period, your tag partner enters the ring to stop the opposing team member from breaking the count.

My favorite Team was "Hulk Hogan" and "Ultimate Warrior". Love this game better than 2k games lol. I play every day on Emulator!
