@Zeithri The Strike might be impressive against (most) One Year War mobile suits, but when you get into the later UC where beam weapons are more common phase shift would be a lot less useful. Heck even GMs were equipped with beam spray rifles (though many were in fact equipped with more conventional weapons) which could virtually ignore phase shift, not to mention the RX-78-2's beam rifle which was as powerful as a battleship's beam weapons.

00 is another "Alternate Universe" or AU timeline. Non UC Gundam series are often refered to as AU series due to being such "Alternate Universe" timelines.
It's not that difficult to get the hang of the gameplay even if you can't read Japanese because you know the interface and the main concepts already from OG. You will miss out on the plot but that's what guides and watching the series are for :)
It isn't the races that mattered, if you compare the general plotline of the first 3/4 of Gundam SEED with that of Gundam 0079, you'll find that they're essentially the same. 0079: Side 7 -> Impounded at Lunar II -> Chased in NA -> Jaburo SEED: Heliopolis -> Impounded at Artemis -> Chased in Africa -> JOSH-A
@TheOrkutGuy sadly it takes place roughly 1000 years into the future (but its officialy said that the UC timeline startes in the year 2045 Anno Domini)
Yes to the first two, just like the RX-78-2 could. The Sazabi on the other hand would pose more of a problem. Of course this will also depend on the skill of the pilot, but Sazabi is meant for ace Newtype pilots, like Char. No doubt Char could give the Kira and the Strike some problems in his Zaku Commander Type, let alone the Sazabi. Furthermore, the Sazabi has beam weapons, which as I said before are better against the Strike.
Sure, I won't argue that. But the character structure of the crew is completely different. The characters are just more fleshed and human in general, in my opinion. Plus it has Mu La Flaga. Who is awesome.
It wasn't as easy to really get the feel of it with the 1979 anime, but Amuro cried just as much as Kira frankly. Amuro's inability to fight after killing Lalah is much like Kira's hesitance to go back to fighting after losing the Strike.
Having finished the series, I can safely say that it is very well done. It was sort of slow to start, but it really picked up about halfway through and had an ending Tomino would be proud of.
I prefer them using Destiny, despite the fact that I much prefer SEED as a show. More units. That's it. All units from SEED are in some way present in Destiny, and this gives us more robots to use. I would like to see a Time Skip story with both plots though, and especially Astray, X Astray and Destiny Astray added in
@ravageMK2 And just to add, now the only Gundam series so far where we have Extraterrestrial Lifeforms... From Jupiter (Not like they're Spacenoids or something like Judau, but actual humanoid aliens). Major Fangasm if I ever see an SRW game with Gaogaigar and 00 Gundam together. Trans-Am and ZA POWA to their fullest.
I love how the song sounds very similar but at the same time sounds different. Wish I actually played this game though. To be honest the first game I played was Original Generations. Actually really enjoyed it. The only way I could play the Alpha series is either by learning how to read Japanese or by an English patch.
The difference being Amuro had a good reason to do that being that he accidentally killed Lalah. Kira only lose a replaceable machine. Heck, he later get the Freedom. Human lives couldn't be replaced.
@Azureman012 Pretty much summed it up. There's a fair bit of hypocrisy on the part of people who make that claim, as Gundam 00, which is far more popular in America, has Innovators, which are far more like Newtypes than Coordinators ever were.
The short version: because people don't really like its protagonist, Kira Yamato, although it's mainly thanks to the sequel making him come off worse. He's actually sorta-kinda okayish in Seed.
This reminds me of Kira and his extremely pacifist battle quotes like things along the lines of ''¡Please stop fighting!'' ''¡¿What is the meaning of this battle!?'' I am not against Kira but ¡Dude stop shoving your morals down everyone's throat's in such a preachy way!
Cristhian Ruiz Pimentel That seems to carry Over to other games Like SD Gundam G Generation and Another Century's Episode, Well atleast even if they protest They Continue to Fight.
I hate SEED and Kira a lot, but in a fight to the death when else are you supposed to be moral about anything? I admit his methods, lines and actions are extremely childish which is why I hate the show but I can't fault him for being who he is.
No dude, it wasn't Kira losing his machine. It was because he was trying to destroy his friend, and a compilation of all the deaths of innocent civilians he witnessed, like that little girl that was obliterated on the escape craft that blew up.
@Yamato4232 Asking that question is like painting a giant target on yourself. But largely from what I've observed, it seems to boil down to the fact that people (mostly Americans) were a bit put off by the first half of the show being an extended homage to the original MS Gundam, in combination with Kira's (overly exaggerated by haters) emotional outbursts, which were seen as being "too emo".
Wasn't born to be the Ultimate Coordinator, and besides that, if you know your VOTOMS, its protagonist was to replace God, only for the former to refuse that.
Yea but i mean come on cut kira some slack he is 18 years old what do you expect when a 18year is sent to kill or be killed sunshines and rainbows? and before you bring uso ewin in the pic he is the grandson(correct me if i am wrong) of char(the red comet). :D
Alot of the reasons for it are pretty pathetic tbh. Personally, I loved that they had a homage to the original Gundam, because the show was just so under-received. Kira's outbursts are completely logical, he is a kid being shoved into a war and witnessing people die on a consistent basis, he isn't a hardened gunslinger, he's a kid from a neutral colony who's never seen this. I'll bet if I took any 16 year old moron and gave him a gun and told him to shoot people, they'd hesitate.
No, but it had Impulse, which is super sweet and I will hear nothing to the contrary! *cough* But yeah, I agree that Destiny (along with Endless Waltz) is a little overused.
Actually..he kind of was born to be the Ultimate Co-ordinator, and that bit about VOTOMS is irrelavent, given that the development for that series compared to SEED Character wise, is different by a longshot. And 'godstomping plot armor' is much different than being intended by others to replace God.
The RX-78-2 came with a beam rifle and twin beam sabers, so Strike could be damaged through the Phase Shift. Really, it would come down to who was the better pilot, Amuro or Kira. In this case, I'd side with Newtypes over Coordinators. A Zaku I or II is still boned, though. But, a Zaku III would violate either Gundam. Nasty little buggers.
True I mean maybe Kira would stood a chance if he was in the Freedom, but even with that I would say that Heero would still find a way to beat Kira cause lets face it Heero is willing to kill himself to succeed. I mean he blew himself up....twice!
Kira was an entire bag of mental problems, in true gundam hero fashion, but among other things was manipulated by sex and a total jerk to said girls ex-boyfriend. Saying Kira and Amuro are any better, given both their circumstances, is laughable. Each Gundam protagonist had their own.....er.... quirks? Amuro was doing the "I dont want to pilot" thing before it was cool and Kamille was....well he was Kamille.
It's not that people hate Gundam SEED, it's Gundam SEED Destiny they hate. In GSD, Kira takes the absolute moral high ground like Jesus, the MC Shinn is a complete jerk ass that never gets better or any character development. There's a bunch of plot holes and stuff. This is all because GSD isn't written by a normal Gundam author but the wife of a Gundam author who is prone to fits of jealousy and irrationality and screws with the characters a lot. Also the later half of GSD is basically the same
