I absolutely love this fish. I got one awhile back and i had it for about a couple months and it was doing well. It was eating and picking at the rocks. It would eat out of my hand and then just died suddenly. Absolutely showed no signs of being sick or anything. I was devastated cause it was my favorite one. When i first got it my sailfin tang was a bit of a bully to it but that only lasted a few days. I still have no idea what happened to it.
@@BlueCarbonReefing obviously but a scopus tang for example doesn’t have the same mortality rate as say a powder blue or blue hippo, just wondering where these guys would fit in
@@BlueCarbonReefing yes its 6 ft. Let me know. I hv a octopus skimmer and not overstocked at all. If not I understand. Just love blonde naso is all, but I get it. Thanks!
I think it would be just fine in a 125 if you get a smaller one. Just know it will eventually outgrow that tank. 180 gallons is only a recommendation. It all depends on what you are willing to do to keep the fish happy and healthy. I am sure plenty of people out there have kept them in 125 or smaller and have been fine for at least a couple of years.
Based on my research the only way to really tell as they get older and larger. They will either have elongated fins (steamers) on their rear tale or they will not. I haven't seen anything else that is definitive in sexing them at a younger age.
Blue Carbon Reefing Just need a little more info Did u treat the blonde Naso with half of the recommended amount of Seachem cupramine or using other treatment? And how many of treatment out of the 90 day quarantine? Thks
@@ttnguyen98 The blonde Naso went through the same QT process as all of my other tangs would. I put the fish in QT and watch it and feed it for a few weeks. I treat with coppersafe and take about 4 to 5 days to ramp it up to a therapeutic level. 1/4 or 1/5 per day. Once it is at the therapeutic level I keep the copper in there for 30 days. After 30 days I do a 50% water change and start using something remove the remaining copper out of the water. Once I feel most of the copper is removed from the water I 2 two treatments of Prazipro with a 25% water changer after the first week then dose the second treatment. Then I monitor the fish and make sure it is healthy, eating agreesively and showing now signs of any parasites. You could definitely shorten this process but I was in no rush to get them into my main system.
@@BlueCarbonReefing I just got juvenile naso and I have it inside aquarium divider to accommodate for few days but my sailfin tang and biocolor angel who are the boss may attack new naso. Not sure to avoid that. I will try mirror and lights off but I wasn't successful last time adding powder brown as he bitten to death at night.
It’s a 33 long not big at all.. length wise it’s decent but width no..my upstairs tank is 75.. maybe one day if I ever decide to go big enough to get one of these bad boys..

Yes as the fish grows it will need more and more room. Most minimum tank size recommendations are based on the size the fish will become not the size it is now.
I get the naso tang 2 day ago and he looked good eating good but today I saw him I thought he was sleeping then I move the rock and he doesn't look too good I think he's going to die I only have wihte and black clown fish and fire fish
Great spotlight and one of my favorite fish. The gentle giant
A great name for it Dave. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful article on tangs
Thanks for watching
I have the same fish collection. 😛👍
You have great taste!
Wish I could have one in my 80 gallon.. love they’re personality!
They are an amazing fish to keep. Just get a bigger tank. Problem solved 😂
Amazing
Naso tanag always my favorite
Very colorful and beautiful fish
Great video and enjoyment
Thanks
Blessings
From beautiful California
Is this naso from 🇲🇻 Maldives?
The Indian Ocean a d the red sea is mainly where they are found so I would say the Maldives is definitely part of that.
Awesome video.
Thanks Reefkpr!
Love that Fish!
Me too Lisa!
Nice video Jon!
Thanks Jonas!

I had the same issue with a standard naso. I just bought a blonde version who is a bit bigger so hopefully he is a bit harder.
I never knew they had double spikes. Great spotlight 👍
Thank you Billy. Probably too messy of a fish for Billy Pipes unless you want an automatic Acan Feeder.. lol
Can’t wait to get myself one and put him in qt
I would really love one in my 6ft 125 but I’ve seen enormous ones. How quick do they grow and how long do you think it would do well in a 6 ft 125?
They grow pretty fast. I am sure they would be fine in a 6ft 125 for a few years depending on what it is in there with it.
Awesome explanation dude many thanks
You're very welcome
I have a red sea 425xl, would this be adequate, for a small juvenile.thanks
If the 425xl is 88 gallons. Maybe temporarily. Probably not long term once it gets bigger.
I feel like a naso needs at least a 300g to be happy once its fully grown
That may be true. I would guess it depends on what else is in there with him as well
I personally dream about flooding my house to provide my fish with the aquarium size they deserve
😂 it still wouldn't be enough.

The vlamingi will grow fast.. vlamingis can get over 2 feet long
Great video! How's the nitrate battle going?
Still battling. I have made some changes to help the battle. It will be in a future video
Are they bad for ick?
All tangs are susceptible to external parasites like ich.
@@BlueCarbonReefing obviously but a scopus tang for example doesn’t have the same mortality rate as say a powder blue or blue hippo, just wondering where these guys would fit in
I would say they are more sensitive to ick over any zebrasoma. Zebrasomas are much hardier than these guys in my opinion
Thanks I have 5 tangs great job
Aww man I really want one. Only hv a 125. My favorite tang. I'll give it more thought. Nice video!
I am not the tang police but if you get a small one with plans of finding a bigger home later you might be fine. It is a 6 foot 125?

Hi, how you introduced naso tang to sailfin tang? Thanks
My naso doesn't have a problem with anyone so that part was easy. It is my purple tang that doesn't like the sailfin

It may not be easy but you could always remove the sailfin and the bicolor and reintroduce them in a few weeks. Do you have a qt?

It’s a 33 long not big at all.. length wise it’s decent but width no..my upstairs tank is 75.. maybe one day if I ever decide to go big enough to get one of these bad boys..

Do the fish size will affect the minimum fish tank size ?
Yes as the fish grows it will need more and more room. Most minimum tank size recommendations are based on the size the fish will become not the size it is now.
Can the tank size be offset by increasing the water flow?
@@TTYY-oj2nl no I don't think flow would help with tank size.

Watch out for a nutrient battery! 🤣
