Your plants look so healthy and beautiful. What are the clips used to hold them in place? I lived in Mannheim, a long time ago. Germany is a beautiful country, especially the rural and farm areas. I loved driving through the towns and remembering the buildings being so close to the roads. I thought I could reach out the car window and touch them... memories.

Regarding the clips that you mentioned, if you mean the green ones. That is wire that is wrapped with a soft foamy plastic cover. I got that in the garden center. I think it's meant to tie gardenplants without the wire hurting any branches etc.

Portulacalia Afra... the common name for it in Afrikaans is Spek boom. Direct translation is bacon tree. It is native to Southern Africa. You must google it in the wild. Can sometimes become as big as a tree. The elephant part come from the fact that it makes up part of the diet for elephants. Specially when water is few and far between. Also good vitamin c source. Its edible for us too but a little sour. 😃 I live in RSA but struggle with the varigated, while the normal green sometimes feels like a weed in my garden.

I'm pretty jealous you can grow plants like this outside, I would love to live in a more warm climate as well.
Hi, I really enjoyed your video. Your house looks so bright and beautiful. I've got a question... how can you keep your calatheas so healthy and happy with no humidifier? Thank you!
I'm not sure myself. I believe that i chose calatheas that can handle a little less humidity. In summer i have around 60% humidity naturally. In winter I will start to use my humidifer again to keep it at 60%. I noticed that regular watering is super important for them, so they don't get crispy or yellow. I also keep them in pretty low light conditions. BUT even though you might not been able to see it in the video, some of the leaves do have little crispy tips. It just does not bother me at all.

Im a bit late to the party, and you probably already found out what those two unknown plants were - but in case you didnt, the cactus is some kind of astrophytum and the other plant is a variegated portulacaria afra :)
Hiii, welcome to the channel 👋. I think people were only able to help me with the Portulacaria so far. Sooo, thank you for the tip on the Astrophytum, are Astrophytum always this round and symmetrical?

First of all, thank you so much for the lovely comment 💚 For my soil I use the same soil for everything except for my succulents.
Roughly estimated it's made like this :
30% regular potting soil
30% perlite
30% orchid bark
10% worm castings
I try to make it so it won't compact if you squeeze it 😁

u must have good humidity
For a very very new begginers, what do u suggest to be the easiest ? I have a philodendron Birkin for my first ... Trying to figure out what I should stick with. (Not a fan of spider plants lol)
So I had a Philodendron birkin too, in my experience they are pretty easy going. Very resilient, don't need water very often and can tolerate many different light conditions. Good choice on your part 😉. If you want other inexpensive beginner plants maybe try a few of these:
Definetly Monstera deliciosa, Pothos of any kind, monstera adansonii, scindapsus argyraeus or Philodendron micans. If you like something fancy but easy to care for, try the white variegated syngonium podophyllum or maybe a anthurium clarinervium. Don't worry too much about what exactly to stick too, most of the commercially available plants are easy to care for, once you have got the basics down 😊 I hope this helps.

Hallöle, Wie schaffst du es, dass deine White Princess nicht braun wird? Meine hat überall braune Flecken an den weissen Stellen :( habe sie an einem hellen Ort stehen. Liebe Grüße
Also meine steht relativ dunkel würde ich sagen. Allerdings bekommen die half moon oder voll weißen Blätter irgendwann auch mal braune stellen! Sie halten sich zwar echt lange aber eins hat die Woche auch schon wieder braune Ränder bekommen. Glaube das ist unvermeidbar. Vorallem wenn die Pflanze stress hat, wie z.b. wenn ich mit Spritzmittel oder so ran gehe, dann izickt sie extra rum. 1 Weißes Blatt ist mir schon völlig flöten gegangen. Mir sind die gesprenkelten Blätter mittlerweile echt lieber.

I've watched many plants collection videos recently and I can clearly say that this is the one of very few that I liked and watched till the end without rushing to finish the video. Of course everyone have different taste in plants and I like your collection!!

The little cactus with root rot is a euphorbia obesa. I have one in pon, so maybe try that when it's more established? It might help against root rot in the future.
Oh thanks a lot for the tip & the name 🙌. I had it in cactus mix before, but pon might be an option then. The thought of a cactus in pon is kinda crazy. Oh is it self watering then or do you just use the pon as a substrate in a regular pot?
@@LeafyLuster Just as a substrate in a regular pot, not self-watering. I always struggled with cacti and succulents before and then tried them in pon and they've done very well since then.
@@LeafyLuster If you do a google image search you'll see that most of them are potted in mineral substrate. Actually I have almost all of my plants potted in pon without self-watering. I only have the very thirsty ones in self-watering and they're quite happy with it. Most of my aroids, hoyas, peperomias etc. like to dry out between waterings. And since the pon seems to dry out at the same time in all the plants, I'm able to water them regularly and keep a watering schedule. I've found that a lot of finnicky plants are much happier this way and it makes my life a lot easier as well.

Hoya Serpens looks just like Peperomia hope. How can I tell them apart?
Good question, i know on fotos they can look really similar ( good dupe 😊 ). In real life i find them very different in fact. The peperomia has multiple stripes going from the tip of the leaf to the petiole. Serpens has no stripes at all. The serpens leaves are smaller than the peperomia leaves. The texture of the peperomia leaves is very smooth, the serpens on the other hand is rippled in texture and also very hairy. The serpens can have slight silver splashes, the peperomia does not have these. I also find the serpens has darker green leaves than the hope.

I also live in Germany (nord). Where did you find an Anthurium Clarinervium? I'm struggling so much to find less common plants. I have to buy them online (mainly Netherlands) or from home (Italy).
And I'm envious of your amazing lighting 😍. Without growing light I cant survive winter. Today I saw the sun after almost 3 months of nothing XD
I got mine from PLNTS.com but i also saw it in Dehner garden center & a lot of other garden centers too. If you keep your eyes open i'm sure you can find one too.
I have a ton of growlights too! I could not sustain this many plants without it 😁. I hate the dark winter days too! But the days are getting longer and sunnier finally 🙏
@@LeafyLuster yeah I know them (one of my favorite Dutch websites). I got my amazing XL dieffenbachia reflector, alocasia dragon scale and calethea Medallion. Love how they pack plants. But right now the Anthurium is sold out. I guess I will wait patiently.
Unfortunately we dont have a dehner in Lübeck. But when I will go and visit my boyfriend I will take a look.

I love that you put the compass points on the screen 👍And also the plants' scientific names. Some of them have changed though. Most calathea have been reclassified as Goeppertia, so Clalathea lancifolia is now Goeppertia insignis.
The plant that you got for your engagement (congrats btw 😀) is a Portulacaria afra variegata.
Hiii, thank you so much 💚 The humidity is somewhere around 40-70% depending on the weather. I have a humidifier but i haven't used it in a year ^^.
I didn't even know about the reclassified Calatheas, thank you. Even though the Goeppertia insignis has unfortunately passed away by now. 😅😅😅
@@LeafyLuster Oh wow, those are good humidity levels 👌 I struggle with very low humidity in this flat during the winter months. Even with the humidifier running the humidity doesn't even reach 40% sometimes. It's 34% in my living room right now. 47% in the bedroom with the humidifier at full steam. I have ordered a second one now and I hope things will get better once I've got two humidifiers running.
Sorry to hear about your insignis 😕 What happened? Mine seems to be doing fine in a self watering pot and under a grow light. It's my only goeppertia at the moment. I'd love to have a warscewiczii but I haven't dared to get one, as I've heard they don't do well in low humidity. I've been considering getting a makoyana though.
The insignis died due to a thrips issue followed by an overwatering/ low light issue. coupled with the fact I kinda ignored it and let it die on purpose a little bit 😬.

Hey Shannon, first of all thank you for your kind comment 💚. I have a philosophy that I want to keep my plants where I can see them. So I try to keep away from greenhouses & I also try to buy plants that can live in living room conditions. I do have a humidifier for the winter. Humidity is between 60-70% in summer & around 40% in winter. I also stopped spraying the plants, cause it's time consuming and not very effective. You see, don't let humidity stop you. Some plants can handle lower humidity so you can fill your house with those ☺️.
