I still dont get the fact, is the Defiant important getting it in the Armada and fight with two other ships?
Or is the Defiant useful just to buff other fighting ships outside an Armada?

on jem hadar armadas, the defiant will significantly boost the loot you get. so it's worth trying to get it in.
