We always drilled, tapped and installed grease zerk's in our caps, saved us tons on bearings. Pending on what equipment, would grease, remove the zerk, install a plug. Saves on getting water, mud, dirt and other things into places those don't belong in. We still would repack bearings but, wasn't needed as often after the grease zerk install. Love the repair, glad to see that bearing heater is working for you, that was a good test for it. Cheers :)
A man after my heart when in doubt get your hands in the grease and put it where you want it.Bearing best friend grease makes them last .Another great vid
I need to buy one of those bearing heaters. I also watched Warren's video where he used his bearing heater. Not a tool that would be used daily, but a necessity when needed. Great videos as always.
We used one of those bearing heaters where I worked. Great tool ,saved alot of trouble putting bearings on . We later went to a different type of heater that heats faster and could handle much larger bearings. It would have heated your bearing up in seconds.
Amazing how a little heat makes that bering fall right on, like you I thought it would take a lot more heat besides 250 degrees. I like the modification to the washer so grease can actually get to the bering from the cap. Nice to have the camera view from above. Thank you for today's video.
What a great tool the bearing warmer is , wish I had one of them , the times I’ve beat the shit out of a new bearing trying to get it on a shaft , cracking idea 💡, great vid Andy very informative 👍👍👍
Cooking with Andy....whoda thunk? Grease looks good enough to eat, nice frosting on the cake! 😏👍👍👍👍👍 5 of 5 !!!! Ya got neet junk dude....... G'day......... I used to be a bolt maker, 1&1/4 to HUGE... Ever see a "A" on a nut, bolt or stud and I may have had a hand in its birth. Old stuff, out of BUSINESS since 1983......
Awesome I looked at one today at our bearing supplier and it was 750.00 I guess I’ll look around for one on eBay. Rebuilding my graincart and the bearings are a pain in the ass to replace.
Cutting those notches is a really good idea that washer looked huge for it's purpose think you can force enough grease through the outer bearing and center cavity to get to the back one . Just a question. That heater worked slick surprised it didn't have to be hotter!
Gayday mate from Melbourne Australia how’s things I’m late on video been working up bush with internet but how do you then fill the bearings with grease if that hot.
Richard Hatfield you know I was really surprised when I packed them with grease just after it came of the heater it wasn’t hot enough to bother the grease.
Those bearing races are hardened and tempered precisely for performance characteristics. Heating them over 250 deg will start to mess with those characteristics and is the reason the heater is limited to 240 deg.
that makes no sense to me why would you have a friction fit bearing on the outer side once its cooled you cant tighten it ,, or loosen it for that matter , i must be missing some thing
That heater is the cat's ass!!! I could se if someone used a torch on the bearing it could be over heated and take some of the life out of the new bearing.
Saw a guy use his wife's electric Wok with hydraulic oil and it worked flawlessly. 👍

That bearing heater looks like a great purchase just after the first use!

My God what a slick tool. I remember trying to torch those on Dads equipment years ago. What a nice tool

Wow that worked slick, nice job Andy.
That’s slick as hell Great time saver thanks for the great video
Thanks for sharing Andy a nice tool to add to the shop. Andy you should of snuck the shaft in the house and put it in the freezer for the night.
That would have worked to
We had the same bearing heater at work better than using a torch which we used sometimes out in the field.
Slicker than snot!
Handy tool saves a lot of messin around
Good video Andy! U guy's work hard

I ended up putting 2 tubes of grease in there
I figured it would take a lot good way to be sure it's always got grease. Thanks for the reply!!
You need to cobble together a grilled cheese or smores attachment for the bearing warmer.
How much did the bearing heater cost and where can I get one?

Is that a spare for the tanker or did you break another one.
It's a spare
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Spares are nice to have around. How far you got to travel for parts?
Good Job, very good. 🚜💨💨💨⚙️🔧🔩
Does it beat the versatility of a toaster oven though?
Probably not
Did you use a split pin to secure the nut?
No I actually used a bolt and double nutted it
that makes no sense to me why would you have a friction fit bearing on the outer side once its cooled you cant tighten it ,, or loosen it for that matter , i must be missing some thing
What kind of grease do you use in those wheel bearings
Navi guard
That bearing should slide under 200 degrees.
Yes but what happens if it doesn’t and it only makes it half way on???
You sir have a greasy palm.
Lol
That heater is the cat's ass!!! I could se if someone used a torch on the bearing it could be over heated and take some of the life out of the new bearing.
THAT IS SLICK
