She was amazing. Black history should have lola included somewhere. In the 70's this was big but even bigger for a black woman performing in costume to "native " dance. I never have forgotten her. One of my favorites!! Hello to lola.
I just happen to be looking at this video from one of Lola's old shows back in the 70s and recognized that I was playing the congas on the last part. I knew I had worked with her before but I didn't"t remember on what shows. Nice to see this. May God continue to bless her. Joe Clayton , musician Los Angeles
...Lola was the 70's version of Josephine Baker! ....a VERY unsung talent that I'm PROUD to share my Birthday with; this clearly was inspired by Diana Ross' "Afro Vogue" skit from the 1968 "TCB" Special (w/ The Temptations & The Supremes), and a YEAR before "Roots"!! ....that Lola, ALWAYS thinking forward, with the past..... This is real Theatre 🎭, The lion 🦁 king 👑,real natural performance Boyance took all these ideas for her shows , Lola was beautiful in all and highly talented in all ways
I knew this wonderful woman’s face but as I was a kid in 🇬🇧 in the 70s, I don’t actually remember her. I came across something about Lola in my feed today and have gone down the proverbial rabbit hole all afternoon. Wow this woman had the whole package and then some, what talent what a beautiful woman. What strength she had in her faith and fighting her illness and recovering then looking out for the community. Seriously the whole package, a Beautiful woman inside and out.
She was beautiful, if she worked with Sammy Davis jr., I can see a affair between them bc he was fresh with women. The sad part is he had a whole wife! smh
yes lola had affair with Sammy. she was young and he opened doors for her as a dancer. but alas she saw that she was being used. went on married the guy from travares.. divorced and speaks the word of god now. god bless her
Yep. He was married to May Britt, the Swedish actress he ironically had an affair with when he was married to his first wife. I guess you can call it Karma for May.
@@elisageorge2261 wasn’t Diana also a young beautiful professional at het craft too? Diana Ross can sing and it’s obvious in her record sales. She’s also a hell of an actress. Remember the wiz and Mahogany and Lady sings the blues? And Diana can also dance in the Wiz. Lola is wonderful but Diana is on an entire different level.
@@Orlanzepol123 Oh Diana did Mahogany and Lady Sings the Blues. But my opinion Dorothy should've been played by the first pick which was Stephanie Mills.. But Diana sugar coated Barry Gordy into giving it to her. I always felt Diana was too old to play Dorothy.. Stephanie.Perfect!
I JUST LOVE ❤️ " LOLA " . SHE AD'S TO THIS CLASSIC ALONG WITH HER CONTEMPORIES FROM THE 70S PEGGY LEE , VICKI CARR , MARY WILSON.

Yes, about the comparison to Beyonce -- she must have taken elements from Lola.
2020, I loved Lola Falana she inspired me to become a professional dancer; also Katherine Dunham and Martha Graham's.
I forgot about Martha Graham. Not sure how that happened!
Martha Grahame was a student of Ruth St Denis.
Very nicely done! Getting early Josephine Baker vibes.
Beautiful Lola💜❤️💜❤️

I think Teyana Taylor and Beyonce owe someone money!!!
@TM-tts6😮 INR? Because that Deja Vu Video by Beyoncé is looking mighty suspect right now. Then again maybe Beyonce’ compensated her so…
Is this not a COMING TO AMERICA VIBE???

I think Lola deserved to the his wife
Omg. Lucelia watch this
Beyonce has nothing on Lola Falana!
She’s giving me Diana Ross vibes
Diana Ross did an African dance performance as part of one of her 70's television specials. That might be the connection your making.
🤦🏾
Nah.. Lola was a young beautiful professional dancer and it's quite obvious..
