  • A proposal to trial storing liquefied gas emissions from a coal fired power station in the Great Artesian Basin is being condemned by farmers, environmentalists, outback mayors, and even a Catholic bishop.
    Mining giant Glencore says the waste is safe and won't contaminate underground water, but opponents are adamant the immense underground water source is too precious to risk.
    Now all eyes are on state and federal politicians as well as the Federal Court to see if the carbon abatement trial is approved.
