@@Avelium not every race by lore has mounts or even hammer and anvils. Dwarfs are stubborn and hold the line. And love their tech. Hate mounts like horses or goats. This isn't LOTR. So we are gonna have a corner camp race.

Funnly enough, I think ranged spam is the most bpring strategy in the game, I suppose different strokes for different folks.

Legend, about that multiple engineer ability thing. Yes you can, because the last skill says "number of uses+1" for the ability. So if you have 2 engineers, you can use it 3 times; if you have 3 then you can use it 4 times etc.
Did you test it? Im getting tonight second engi in the army, so will be cool if that works.

To be fair, that is the point of a 10/10 doomstack, one that can fight4 armies and come out on top with either no hero losses or minimal losses eg; trolls that eat a nuke.

its hard to do in multiplayer as a lot of doom stacks rely on campaign only buffs from the faction or legendary lords.
@Awellner There's maybe a mod that lets you give those stats to multiplayer games? It would be cheating but if you play against a friend who agrees with it then you shouldn't get banned
@@exantiuse497 there isn't a mod and I doubt there someone will make one.
Your best bet is for you and a buddy to play a head to head campain but that easily takes about 100+ turns and a lot of hours for both of you to get that point.

The Runesmith also provides Wardbreaker, which neuters an enemy army's Missile Resistance by 10%. If anything, drop the thanes, get another engie and runesmith. Should be a good combo.
Yeah and ditch the ironbreakers. Get more engies!
It's kinda funny seeing the Shades take so much damage so quickly that they don't even have an opportunity to break before the last one dies.
One of the best parts about this army: Its cheap. The cheapest doomstack the dwarfs can field, by far. Compared to hammerers its pretty funny how much better this stack is and how much more efficient it is as well.
Thorek's campaign is the only one i managed to actually bother finishing, i was genuinly laughing at just how insane his Quarreler's we're in the final battle, they make Thunderer's look like a joke.
Thorek ain't kidding when he says old ways are best.

I thought the 50% increased AP on Quareller missiles was such a cool buff. Then I saw it took it from 5 to 10 AP damage and realized how little that meant lol.
Still 400 extra damage if all arrows in a volley hit their armored target!
what 5 to 10 is 100%
It all adds up especially when you have several units of Quarrelers. 5 extra ap per missile is actually pretty huge when you're talking hundreds and even thousands of missiles.

@legendoftotalwar - the runesmith is also providing sharpen weapons - which applies to melee and ranged weapon damagae.
True but engie gives that to the ranged + ammo so still not worth it as you already have rune magic on thorek, no need for another runesmith impo.
@@englishvoodoo676 If you're talking about strictly maximiing power - sure, but a single runesmith can provide 3 buffs to the army, and is only tier 3 - instead of the tier 5 of additional engineer(s).
@@sumgui Do note that the Dwarfs got re-worked with the latest patch, so you actually unlock engineers at tier 3, get +1 at tier 4, and get +2 at tier 5 (same as runesmiths)
@@arazel_chainfire the tier 3 runesmith building gives +1 capacity. At least with Thorek, dunno if the building is different for the other dawi lords.

This is how I prefer to play Dawi, though now I always bring along a unit of Mournfang Cavalry to mop up the enemy.
I think this deserves some bonus for being built mostly on tier 2 units and not even really needing much hero cap to produce.
I agree with the rating. This doom stack would have a tough time against an enemy that brings a lot of artillery such as the Empire using hellstorm batteries and steam tanks
Honestly, the thing I'm loving most is how people are experimenting with the Dwarfs again, trying to figure out which works best/is more fun. The fact that we even considered for a moment a Thorgrim Hammerer doomstack makes me happy, even if it isn't strictly practical.

For the Zhufbar 42-Pounder ability, each additional Engineer with 2 levels in the skill gives you an additional charge.
Gyrocopter engineer is a brilliant idea! CA please.
And give the Skaven warlock engineer a doom flayer mount, Skaven are so underpowered.

I accidentally had this doomstack on Thorek when I just recruited Quarralers in a hurry for a fight. During the battle when the enemy lord died in two seconds I realised that it's a really powerful doomstack. I had two engineers in it to replenish ammo though. This is like the ultimate afk yourself to a victory stack which is sometimes nice to have.
Thorek on his way to end the Second War of the Beard on seemingly every playthrough, what an absolute chad saving the Dawi like this

I’ve always said, gyrocopter for engineers and a shield bears “mount” for dwarf lords, like they had on the tabletop!
Legend the runsmith is giving 10% extra damage as well the other debuffs to the enemy
not necessarily. if the unit has 0% missile resistance it does nothing. it does not reduce the missile resistance below 0%. it definitely helps vs heroes though. thorek would have also had that ability so it might have been redundant to have -20% missile and magic resistance. not that magic resistance was useful at all since all our attacks were physical

Hi, can someone please explain to me how the Quarrellers have 184 range? Engineers +range skill has been removed so i dont get it. I dont see any skills on Thorek that increase range either. Thank you

Several empire stacks with cavalry and Helstorm rockets might be a real issue for this dwarven army
Cavalary is actually fine, just place a decent amount of Ironbreakers in front of them. Theyre done easly. But artillery is a real danger, since you need to approach but thats why Dawi got fast flying war machines + new added Ogre cavalry. Probably cant beat them right now with these buffs, except for Hexwraiths with their 75% physical resistance (even more with fitting leaders)
Actually, in Thorek’s army, Grudge Throwers both outrange Hellstorm Batteries AND are always target seeking. Which makes them really good against rival artillery.
I think Legend knows this, but the playerbase WANTS Hammers to be good. It's the same with Cavalry and especially melee Legendary Lords (Grimgor). We love the idea of these units taking on masses of the enemy. It is cool. It is awesome.
Magic and Archers are all well and good, but the romanticised aspect of warfare is removed when they are used. Steel clashing upon steel, a true test of skill and worth, equal footing and grounds; all of these are what we dream and hope for, yet are not viable in Total War: Warhammer 2.

Maybe we should make a split between generic doom stack and special LL doom stack, because yeah this doom stack or Isabellas Vampire stack is pretty strong, but you can only have it once. So it would need a lower rating imo or handle it as a different case (LL doom stack). Unless we figure out how to clone LL.
You don't have to have Isabella to make a vampire stack strong. 19 vampire heroes leveled up properly will destroy anything, regardless of the lord. And if they have the Dread Incarnate trait as well, it just gets stupid.
Every Engineer has the ability to add 2 uses to the wind ability. Also the Runesmith sharpen weapon buff increases missile damage.
Not sure about rating, but I would say that its definitely the strongest Dawi doomstack.

It may be beneficial to leave the runesmith, as he does provide 10% extra missile damage and 10% missile resistance. The one who is out of place is probably the regular thane - he just holds the line, which can be done by the engineer/runesmith easily enough.
Runesmiths don't provide extra missile damage or middle resistance. Their Ward Breaker ability lowers enemy magic and missile resistance by 10% which stacks for each Runesmiths and Runelord. You're right about the Thane, use them as assassin's, scouts or a Thane stack.

"Seems to be a good auto army." If you looked at the ranged damage of the Quarrellers. They are pushing 180 in that stat. When their stats are ok in melee. Really unless it's chaf it's not that great but having 100 armor with a shield on top of all of that? I can see why the auto battle assumes they will do awesomely.
How does the missile dmg get so high as 180? What is causing it to get THAT high? I have 1 engineer, the 50% bonus from Thorek, the redline buff, what else is doing it?
Id like to know this too. He said something about reload times being really low, but never said how to get them that low.

I'm also waiting for an answer! I'm playing Thorek right now and have quarellers at 60 weapon strength currently (with just one engineer so far) - can't see how I can possibly get it to 180.

It's the redline buff, getting them to gold chevrons increases their dmg output ALOT and pair that with the Morgrims gear artifact that has 15% dmg and 15% reload time reduction+ammo etc for qual and grudgeTs and and 50% from Thorek and an engineer and u'll get there, the artifact almost doubled my gold chevron quarrelers on Thorek, easy way to get it is by confederating Belegar
This doomstack video was a 10 out of 10. Usually I don't care to much for doomstack videos except the exceptional ones.

but he is wrong on this. for example the mod "better camera" has 400.000 subscribers. you can't tell me a thousand people would stop watching him because he uses a mod that literally every single player, except for the noobest of noobs, has.
and i have to mention that i watch a lot of his streams and i enjoy them.

I guess CA has no interest in players pursuing any strat other than ranged spam in a defensive position. Idk why that wouldnt be a glaring problem. You shouldnt be ok with 80% of content not being viable.
There's a closer to tabletop-mod that makes infantry and cavalry pretty strong. It's a nice change of pace, but monsters and heroes are almost too weak in that mod.
I used to run quarrellers as frontline infantry, with backline of armor-piercing missiles such as thunderers. Looks like Thorek's boost to armor-piercing missile damage makes that completely unnecessary.
You have put your ranged units in the wrong order....LOS units with high AP up front, supported by quarrelers behind them is the correct way to maximize effective firepower.
I believe that master eng. should make artillery in battle, stationary one...
Man, I really suck at this game. And watching you do these play throughs, only makes it worse. Because you make it look, so damned easy. And your doing it, on legendary mode.

Been using a similar stack with Belegar and Rangers (his skill tree now does Rangers and Miners boosts) and its been rather good. No super runes but do have Ancestor Spirits.

I was wondering why in my campaign my quarellers were doing so much damage they are at 168 missle damage at rank 9 and I steamrolled my campaign

I prefer to go with 3 grudgethrowers with rune of burning in Thoreks army.
They get so many kills and a unit of quarrellers can protect the flanks instead of iron breakers.

Also I wonder how this would perform with Great Weapon Quarrellers? Or maybe 1/2 & 1/2. As long as your ammo holds out, shields are unquestionably better, but once you're in melee the GW may provide more benefit.
nah, they are just more expensive. quarrelers are „decent in melee“ - but not on legendary difficulty. if your front quarrelers end up in melee, its better they hold the line longer so you can shoot the enemies with your back line. and regular quarrelers have better defense. the tiny bit of ap damage & attack rating is not worth losing the shields & defense stats
So how do you get the reload times down so low for the quarrellers?
One of the special items he hunts down gives 15% reload speed for quarrellers and grudge throwers factionwide and the 15% from the red skill tree, but idk if theres anything else that gives it.
Also range boost from item he hunts down for quarrellers
Idk if they were nerfed but I can't reach 180 missle strength, even with 3 engineers in the army.
Using Runes, engineer and lord buffs I currently have a Flame cannon unit with 2130 weapon strength... 0_0 Any unit it hits is almost vapourised and with the burning leadership debuff those units are instantly broken..clear walls in seiges almost instantly if you can get the right position to shoot and even shoots over the walls ....MMM love the smell of burning rat in the morning,noon and night 🤣

I think replacing the runesmith is a bad idea for improving the doomstack, since he provides 10% missile damage in addition to his abilities. Instead the thanes should be replaced since their only purpose is to tank and buff the ammunition of the ironbreakers. And have 2 more engineers with the grudgeraker so the engineer can have increased health, missile defense and armor, while also buffing ammo and missile strength which is something this doomstack could really utilize. Plus, with the restock ability, they actually provide more ammo to the ironbreakers
Without the thanes tanking, the quarrelers would take much more casualties. You could maybe drop one of them for an engineer, but definitely not both.
10% missile strength + runesmith abilities are not worth as much as all the buffs engineers give for this army. Especially when the army already has thorek.
@@Loj84 You can spec engineers to be a bit more tanky now, and they don't do much worse then a thane. No reason to have a thane.
@@Loj84 Maybe you could go with 4 engineers and no other heroes, but thanes just aren't that much tankier than engineers with grudgeraker, and with engineers having the army ability, a magic missile, a slow, replenish ammo, and army buffs, there is no good reason to have a thane

I dont know why. But i still dont know how to build these doomstack/achieving that damage. I just hope your future video has more information/educational. It kinda boring if you just watch it fights without even knowing the mechanic
On a Dawi kick, and I think the engineer is the most underutilized unit. The gyrocopter mount would be amazing, but there needs ro be a lord & legendary lord engineers.

CA does watch the mod community, the biggest being SFO where the Engineers can get gyrocopter mounts :D
Come on ... why make a "big effort" and swing a hammer, when you can simply load a crossbow over and over again?
By the codex engineers were pretty much to add to seige units adding master artillery specialist, usually letting you reroll scatter dice or reroll dmg. They should get a seige engine option as a mount.
Ambush will screw over any non hero dwarven army to be honest, that's why fighting the skaven is such a nightmare...
This is old dawi tech combines new dawi tech, like "Sir we built a new crossbow, but we are not sure you like it beacuse it is operated by cogs and steam and fires more like a machinegun "

Can anyone tell me why the iron warden tankard is so good? Legend keeps talking about it and checking for it and I want to know why it’s so good.
7 melee defense & 4 hp/s regeneration permanently. thats what makes the dwarven heroes / lords basically unkillable
