18:28 its a low E matt!!!
7:53 casual G#1
13:50 and a G1
7:53 was a fry because he didn’t get a full breath into it and 13:50 is fry
He does have a nice bass tone
I have tons of respect for Jeff. He is a master in the trade, but still humble.
"Good News from the Graveyard" - this man rocks!!!
9:45 LOVE LOVE LOVE TERRY CARTER'S VOICE!!!
really enjoyed this one
Jeff has a lot of knowledge and im going to use his mask technique 100%
I find it very confusing to be honest. As far as I was taught years ago, bass notes should resonate more in the chest, because there is more room for the longer cycles per second wavelengths. I was under the impression that the higher you went, the more you should sing in your mask.
I love that I was blessed with a bass voice! Rattle them floorboards!
I’ve looked up to Jeff Chapmen for years. That was especially true during my time with the Down East Boys in 2014 and 2015. I feel blessed to be able to call him a friend.
Best explanation of the “mask” I’ve seen. Jeff is the man!
Hi. Sorry. I could not find any contact mail. I have to write ike this. I am recently learning growl technique, from a very talented guy. Hi is a real master in it. He could sing entire songs with it. I think He would be a good choise for an interview on the growl singing. If you are interested

11:48 Paul's another of my FAVES!!! I know he doesn't travel anymore, but U should get Glen Dustin on here sometime. Then there's Tim Duncan & Wyatt Austin. 😊
This is some good stuff man im a 18 uear old bass singer that started singing bass at the age of 10 in my house to the songs of brian free and assurance and the kingdom heirs and i would love to sing in a quartet some day
Matt, this channel is so awesome! Loved this interview! Beginner bass singers like myself need all the help we can get! God bless!
Got my bass superpower t-shirt coming in the mail. At the top of my bucket list is getting all my bass singing heroes to autograph it! Lol! Keep these videos coming!
Great tips and good stuff!!
Jeff is the real deal. I just opened for Gold City 2 weeks ago. He is the best bass singing today. To know I'm almost the same age as him. In our group I sing all parts. My lowest note is like a booster box for him. Lol
Outstanding information! Thanks to both of you. Jeff is the best out there in my opinion.
I have seen this guy developing an amazing tone and techinique
I’m unaware if he is still around, but if he is I am shocked that Big John Hall has not been suggested for an interview. Would be great to hear from him. Barry Carl and Paul David Kennamer or David cross would be great too. Rodney Britt and Wes Mackenzie would be a blessing to hear from as well.
And now John Hall has passed away due to Covid what a shame :(
I'm so looking forward to hearing from my favourite bass singer. Of course, you're one of my favourite bass singer too Matt.
I would love to see you get Steve cross on here if at all possible.
Would absolutely LOVE to see you meet with Steve Cross formerly of Rescue!!
Great interview from a superb bass singer and a genuinely great human being. (By the way, that JD story at 27:55...I seem to remember that JD told it a little differently. LOL)
One of the best videos you’ve done yet!
Love this! God bless both of you guys!
Best bass singer going currently and one of the best of all time! Thanks for an awesome interview!
Ya’ll cracked me up!!! That was fun!
Jeff you looked amazing with a beard and moustache I sure enjoy seeing you again with Matt you have allot of BASS Singers in your Family even cousins last time you imitated some of your favourite guy’s. Love hearing your Bass Singing Voice Tips Jeff and love your Cup your really interesting you need to get the mask that has the mouth opening so you can eat that would help you with your spray too. Jeff you are still funny even when you don’t try that is what you do and love God has Blessed You Jeff I was waiting for this lol 😂 love it 😍 Jeff
I love both of you guys! Thank you for this Chanel. Keep up the great interviews. Jeff, you are a beast and you know that’s a compliment!
Awesome interview Matt. Two great bass singers talking “shop”.
Thank you for what you do.
Matt, U should SO get Jeff's cousin Kirk (Chapman) on here someday as well as Clayton Inman's brother Keith. The only times Keith has traveled professionally is when he filled in w/Mark Trammell B4 he hired Will & B4 Anthem Edition hired Andrew.
The Best Yet from the current GOAT in the bass world. Tips were so practical and helpful- Thank you for sharing
I love this. I’m not a bass singer, probably never will be. But I’d love to be able to hit those low notes. I admire you guys that can do this and are masters of the craft.
you can with subharmonics. Im 14 and im a bari but i am able to hit F#1 and G1 no problem with this technique

Reached F#1, many years ago
Basses are rare well they're not rlly rare more as uncommon its mostly bc u have to have a combination of longer vocal chords and a loootttt of vocal weight it doesn't rlly matter a whole bunch abt how low u can go like thurl ravens croft he couldn't very very low like some other Basses could but he had an immense amount of vocal weight I can go down to G#1 and have strong tone just bc that's how my vocal chords work
Great interview! Applicable to the spoken voice as well! Thanks for putting in the effort to share this great man’s techniques with the world! Knowledge and wisdom passed on!!!
Daniel Avinash
Poetry Unforgotten
I would love to meet him in person
Please get Tim Duncan from Canton Junction... pleeeeaaaaseee...
Jeff i remember you from the Anchormen
Here is an excellent opportunity to learn from one of the greatest bass singers ever!
JC is the best!
Ray Reese criticism 😊
Can you please do an interview with Eliott Robinson Former Bass of Home Free
This should be good
You should get an oktavist on here like Glenn Miller. See what their perspective is on singing bass
I wonder if J.D Sumner used the same technique as well?
I'm no bass singer. However I do love low notes, so I try my best to strengthen what lower range I have. I've heard alot of places that many inexperienced singers tilt their head down to try to grab lower notes, and I've never understood this. For me it's always felt unnatural and had the opposite effect, and I don't see how anyone can think this is a good idea in any regard at all. If I need to grab the lowest note I have, I tilt my head upward a little instead. It relaxes my throat and keeps it still. Also it feels much more natural. This just came to mind, maybe someone have an explanation to me as to why people tilt their head down?
Guess people think Down = Low notes :D I have to agree that putting your head slightly upwards and dropping the jaw feels a little better for the bottom notes. Much better than crushing your adams apple anyways.
@@spaak3465 Yeah exactly!
Jeff was originally a rap artist.
His he still alive
