In my use case I use my MBP for office work, some video editing and photo editing, drive a pair of displays at home and work out of a pickup during the day. I had the 10/24/32 M1 Max in a 16". The size was a deal killer. I traded it for a 14" M3 Pro MBP 12/18/18 and have never regretted the decision. Moral of the story, I didn't need as much horse power as I thought, and I really should have spent more time considering the size and weight. Wish I would have originally bought the 14" M1 Pro instead, but super happy with the M3 Pro MBP 14" (and the space black is Cool!)

I recently picked up an open box M3 Pro 14in for about $1500 from Best Buy. It was listed as fair w/major scratches. Upon inspection, there were absolutely no scratches or blemishes. I picked it up and it was totally dead. But after charging I checked the battery and capacity is 100% and it had less than 10 charge cycles. At that price it was a no brainer vs the Air w/16GB and 512GB ssd

    Hello,
I'm currently using a desktop PC (Dell i5-8500/16GB) and I want to switch to a laptop, specifically a MacBook Air. I'm unsure which model to buy, M2 or M3, and whether to get 8GB or 16GB of RAM. My usage mainly involves these apps: Chrome (with around ten tabs open on average), Adobe Illustrator, Notion, Trading View, Mail, Discord, and Office Suite. Occasionally (once a month), I also use Fusion 360 and Counter-Strike.
Thank you in advance for your feedback and advice.

I've been debating on getting the MacBook Air or the MacBook pro 16-in. I am leaning towards the air cuz it's cheaper. The 15-in model that is but I also want the M3 pro with a larger display I can use my trade-in. I currently have a Intel Mac 13-in and I've been looking to upgrade it for a while and I really want the 16 in but I didn't want to pay the price. I also want the M3 pro so I feel like the bass 16 in with the 512 storage might be enough, but I feel like I will upgrade the storage to 1 TB. What do you think?

Ok so I’m barely scraping by with my 16” Intel MB Pro but I’m itching to upgrade. My workflow would probably be fine with what I’ve got for a little longer (mostly use Microsoft office applications) but it is what I want to do with my MB Pro in my down time that is screaming for an upgrade: movies and games. But I don’t play 1st person shooters anymore. Mostly turn-based strategy (e.g. Colonizing Mars, Civ-6, etc.). I assume that 16” M2 Pro would do the trick but for how long into the future? I’m thinking about buying an M3 Pro after the M4s come out this fall (hopefully get a refurbished one cheap-er). Thoughts?

I’m looking for a new MacBook Pro since I own an old intel MacBook. I usually use it for large excel spreadsheets and 10-20 chrome windows. So for multitasking and light gaming should I get an M1 Max 10 core CPU 24 core GPU 32gb of RAM or the M3 Pro 12 core CPU 18 core GPU 32gb of RAM? Need a suggestion as I'm planning to swap out my 2015 mac pro to a newer one. Need something that has a big screen, good battery and enough power to handle web browsing, Adobe Lightroom and Davinci Resolve. As well good for binge watching on go!

Ofc, would like to future proof myself as well, don't want to change them every other year. Current one has lasted almost 10 years

16” M3 Pro will probably do just fine! 16” screen for the binge watching and speakers. But if it’s too big, the 14” will do

i wouldn't get any with a M3 Pro chip if high performance is important like do audio or graphic. For some unknown reason Apple slowed down the memory bus speed on the M3 Pro chip. So I say go for a Mac with a M3 Max chip if high performance is important.

I’m a professional photographer and video editor . Crunching through R5 files . On the photo side I might shoot 10k images per shoot. I’d like to access the 8k raw on the video side but my current machine can’t handle it ( 4k raw c200 is ok). What are the key specs I should look at for smoother timeline scrubbing in premiere and Decent Lightroom performance. Any idea on Ram? I’m getting advice to max out at 128 but wonder if 65 is enough. Thanks for the help 🙏🏼

You negleted to include the $699 M1 MBA at Walmart. Great deal. Now for what you said about the M3 MBA display. Connecting it to a dock gives you almost everything and more than a MacBook Pro. If you're using multiple displays then you're at a desk so a dock is really a good addition. They're dropping in price as well. Bought a Thunderbolt 4 one on Ebay for $60.
