Must have DC Inductive Amp meters

- Until recently I never realized there were inductive clamp on DC Amp meters which are able to measure the current flowing through a wire without making any electrical contact. AC clamp on meters have been around for many years, but I had never realized there were some which are also able to measure DC current.
Something interesting about those little automotive amp clamps is that it will show you the direction of current flow depending on which way the needle swings left or right interesting thing to note that thanks for your videos.
It can also be used to track down a short.
I recently bought an affordable chinese made Proster cm6000 pro DC/AC clamp meter with regular dmm features. They come with NCV, capacitance, frequency, temp and 60M Ohms resistance, AC/DC voltage. The meter is great although i paid a bit for postage and currency offset to my country. This after having changed a few meters over the years seemed the most ideal since i have both electronics and automotive interests. Thx for your videos. I joined today after YT recommended your RF radiation video.
Fun, interesting video. Harbor Freight sells a unit that measures DC current using a loop like that. I was highly skeptical that it would work. You gave me some confidence in that tech.
At my work we have an Extech AC-DC clamp on ammeter that has a 1ma DC resolution. It is a great tool at a great price (under $100)
I had no idea they came with such sensitivity in the DC inductive mode. I figured stray magnetic fields would make such low readings impossible, but that's good to know. Nice to hear from you Steve.
Big Clive has done several overviews of some newer ones, they are amazingly accurate.
Thanks for the info. I'd like to pick something up a bit more sensitive, or perhaps build one using a hall effect sensor.
Thanks for the upload :)
I have used that company's test equipment and like it. I have a DMM and will try and find the DC amp meter. Thank you and has always all my best.
Thanks Bobby. NIce hearing from you as well.
educational so u get a thumbs up
saludos desde mexico
I suppose you could use the metal proximity meters to determine polarity?
Basic electromagnetic theory shows that measuring either ac or dc current would be simple with a clamp meter. Why is that such a revelation to you?
I figured the clamp on meters were only available for AC amps. I guess I'm not keeping up.
Probably because, regardless of theory, practical DC clamp ammeters have only become generally available relatively recently.
@@sootikins I've seen always seen one at Sears that I've considered buying for over two decades now. Of course, they're gone now.
Hello, I am Alin. I saw that you have posted some videos related to antenna reception, are you interested in testing and reviewing the antenna, we would be happy to share your professional opinions and recommendations to consumers. Where can I get your email?
What is you email address?
