Also something helpful to remember is not to be surprised when you make a mistake…it is very likely for everyone! What is important is that you do not freak out and let it become a chain reaction. Besides, it always sounds different on ur side of the horn…so the judge may not even notice!
YES! Just make music-don't get caught up in "oops, I didn't have vibrato" or "I chipped that note". Always be apart of the music making. Wynton Marsalis will never be able to hear what he sounds like on the other side of the horn. Yo-Yo Ma will never be in the audience as he plays the cello. You'll always hear things differently!
Personally, for picking a solo, I really focus on choosing something that’s BOTH lyrical and technical. I think choosing a balanced solo is more valuable than picking something that’s overly technical, and this can seriously improve your audition as a whole. My go-to on trumpet were Charlier Etudes since these are very lyrical and flowing but at the same time technically demanding.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This video helped me tremendously!! I made into all-state as a freshman on the flute!!!! 🎉
That's awesome!!! Congratulations! So glad that this video helped! 😊
this video is so underrated
