- Satire of Ulster politics from the 1990s:
Rory is Gerry Adams singing a revised version of Right Said Fred; the original song was a novelty hit for Bernard Cribbins in the early 1960s.
This has been in my head for 20 years, and now I've finally found it. This is a true work of genius. They just didn't know it at the time.
Have been trying to find this for years. Absolutely hilarious. Thanks!
Thank you for uploading this. Watched this when it was current, quite daring considering the times.
I would love to know what Gerry Adams thought of it!
If it was shown back in the Eighties, he would have been speechless.
@@commandingjudgedredd1841 Yes! 🤣🤣
@@commandingjudgedredd1841because of the broadcasting ban in 1988 😂.
Thanks for finding this. I watched it at the time and remember wetting myself laughing.
Absolutely fkn Hillarious!! I'd forgotten how talented and funny bremner was x
Blooming Gerry Adams!
Excellent ! ... as much fun as the original song ! ...... DAVE™🛑
At least they got somewhere in the end.
One each end, steady as you go 😂
RIP Bernard Cribbins
Amazing !
Comedy gold!
Rory a legend ❤
a bit easier to laugh at it now at least
mezzuna Brexit around the corner. Could see a return to those funny old days... oh wait
Don't hold your breath . If they get the Irish border wrong we could face this again , accept with a incompant Prime Minster and government .
I can really see Thersea May or Jacob Rees-Mogg being willing to meet with current IRA leaders to try and avoid conflict can't you ?
We are heading for no Deal now which means a hard border
What a bloody nightmare ...
The simple genius of this is that it was written some years before the Good Friday Agreement and perfectly captures 20 years of sectarian politics. To the tune of Bernard Cribbins 😂
Legend
Happier times.😂
You've gotta laugh 😂
😆😅🤣 fucking bloody brilliant
If Rory tried this ten years previously, he would have been kneecapped.
Best case
Do you have him as James Goldsmith doing Wuthering Heights?
No, Sorry - maybe someone else will post it and , if so, it's something that I'd like to see. I did a YT search which came up dry.
This is seriously catchy 😐
Is there really a need for all the phony recorded studio laughter? His audience shouldn't need to be told when to laugh.
+OpeningSalvoe This was Broadcast as Part of his Show which he always had a Studio Audience. Sometimes I like when there's Audience Laughter, it feels like you're laughing with them and it can add to the whole thing. I think its like that in most cases. Sitcoms like Bottom and Blackadder etc would have been as funny, but probably wouldn't have been nearly as effective if not done in front of an Audience. That said of course there are occasions when Audience laughter doesn't Work, like when Part 2 of Miami Twice from Only Fools and Horses was released on DVD, they added a Laughter Track...... Bad Idea. Also when they showed a clip of the TV Serial of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy with a Laughter Track.........not good and wise that they decided to omit it. So I think in most cases it works, in others it doesn't.
soeffingwhat In this case it doesn't.
***** A matter of opinion of course, I personally think it does.
At the time it was hard to laugh at it , I was too young to remember it all , too young . I do remember a bomb threat interrupting a school trip , the adults all being afraid . It was a false alarm but it had been to close to the Manchester bombing at the time so they took it seriously I remember being afraid because my Mum and teacher were , as well as security urging people to stand back further away . People of all ages can afford to find it funny now after the Good Friday Agreement, but then it was a bit like mocking ISIS , he took a bit of a risk here to be honest , quiet brave of him really .
I believe the correct term Is CANNED LAUGHTER X
stupid canned laughter ruins it
