  • I thought it might be interesting to go down memory lane and see the first 10 football shirts that I purchased when I decided to start collecting them. It is cool to see how prices have evolved over the years and will give you an idea of what the market was like back in 2014 when I started.

Just bought that A.E.K shirt the other week as I didn't have any Greek clubs in my collection.
First 3 shirts I bought with my own money were a Dortmund 92 , Dundee united 93 and a Belgian 1994 world cup shirt, all home. Could only buy one shirt a year back then as it took me ages to save up my pocket money !
They are still in pretty good condition. The united one is probably worth a fair bit as it's the season we first won the Scottish cup.
Think they were all about 30 - 40 pounds.

Yeah that Dundee one will be worth a pretty penny. Don't think you'll see too many of them floating around.
I remember my pocket money was minimal so I couldn't ever save up enough. Haha.

So, my first football shirt I bought when I started collecting was a Nagoya Grampus Eight Away 96-98, bought brand new. The reason? Arsenal had just signed Arsene Wenger and being an Arsenal fan I just had to get it. I was actually in a local sports shop, way before internet shopping so was a really good find. I of course had many Arsenal and England shirts before this one, but being fans don't really count those as "collecting shirt" shirts. 🤣
My second, was a PSG home from 2002, again bought brand new at the time. The reason behind this one was my uncle was living in Paris at the time, married to s French lass. Also, it was a little bit different. The shirt had a built in/stitched in undershirt/vest.

That's very cool. Can't imagine bumping into too many Japanese shirts in shops these days. Unfortunately!
      Great story! 👍

Dude, my first shirt was a Nagoya Grampus Eight Away 97-98 bought brand new. I was new to UK from New Zealand at the time and it was exceptionally cheap as I recall... at least under a tenner and now there are a couple on Ebay for about a hundred quid.
I knew of them because of Gary Linker.
We probably bought them around the same time.

@@seanmmccarthy definitely think the shop had them from the Lineker effect.

I started collecting during lockdown and since I follow your videos. However apart from Chelsea shirts(each season for the last 17years), my first shirt was a Milan shirt. I bought it in the official Milan(San Siro) shop(watched them beat Torino) Maldinis last season. Its a Maldini nameset, signed by the legend itself. Cost me 80euros. I wonder what its current value 😉. Keep up the great videos.

Maldini is such an amazing name set to have. To be honest from that era there were so many greats.
      Loving the Chelsea collection too!
Cheers mate. Keep up the good work yourself! 👍

Very cool! It's fun to look back and see how much the collection has grown! When I start buying football shirts I'll probably go for cheaper things that I like and work my way up.

Yeah it makes sense to do it that way. There are so many clubs and shirts that there isn't any need to go crazy at the beginning.

So cool and very interesting to see! I still have a relatively small collection (around 35 shirts) and I try to buy them below 20€, with only a few exceptions so far.
First three shirts I bought were on an Ebay auction:
    - Galatasaray 12/13 Away (BNWT) - 15,51€
    - Besiktas 15/16 Home (BNWT) - 15,00€
    - Liverpool 14/15 Away (BNWT) - 17,52€

It makes sense to keep it cheap at the beginning. Love that you were buying BNWT too!! I still need a Galatasaray shirt myself. 👍👍

The first ever football shirts I bought was the Chelsea 1999/00 home shirt and Brazil 1999/00 away shirt, which both is currently packed away in a box. Don't think I'd ever sell it but actually need to go check what they go for in terms of pricing. My most expensive shirt I bought was a vapor player issue version of the Chelsea 2018/19 3rd shirt which if I remember correctly was only worn in two matches by the club plus it was for some reason at the time a difficult find(it's the grey kit with the London map design on it). Have to admit, the vapor player issue kit also has to be the most comfortable one to wear.
    Update:
and quickly checked what my Brazil one would go for these days. Think in those years it was around £25, seems today you could get a genuine one for £120 at the very least, which is a nice bit of rise in value I guess :)

Definitely can't go wrong with Chelsea shirts. Technically my first shirts were those too but they were bought by parents so they don't count. Haha.
      Nice player issue shout! 👌

I started to buy shirts of other club 2 years ago and when i started i have committed the mistake to buy normal shirts at the release. Now i take the most rare at the start and after i buy the other shirts, i don't buy from private because i'm really worried about being scammed and then i pay more the shirts but at least i'm quiet

My first shirt of collection is fiorentina 2018 one of the worst shirt ever 😅😅

    • @ClubFootballShirts
      @ClubFootballShirts  2 роки тому +1

Yeah I must admit that Fiorentina shirt wasn't my favourite. A few of their very recent ones haven't been their best work in my opinion. Though I know a few people do like them.

@@ClubFootballShirts the shirts of fiorentina in 90's even though I wasn't born yet were truly amazing, i have one fake shirt of batistuta and i hope to rebuy but this time original. The fiorentina shirt that you showed represents the highest point reached for us in the last 10 years also even if the results wasn't good
