How to make CARDBOARD Colt M1911 with BLOWBACK - EASY / Como fazer pistola de papelão com blowback

- I created this template for a Cardboard Colt M1911 with blowback mechanism, using the same basic mechanics I used for all my blowback guns.
As you all know, the 1911 is my favorite pistol!
The scale is 1:1, you can download the templates in A4 for free.
This is supposed to be a rather easy one to make, compared to my other ones.
All cardboard used is from shoe boxes, about 1mm thick.
I didn't want to paint it 'cause I wanted it to actually look like cardboard craft.

Finally, someone who makes good use for the amazon cardboard boxes.
Here's some things to note:
1. Making this takes a very long time. (For me it's over two days)
2. Make sure you have a good amount of rubber bands of various sizes to use.
3. It's obvious this guy uses a scroll saw or something similar due to having such clean cut edges, so consider what's available before making this. (I used a box cutter and scissors)
4. This gun prop does not shoot, it is purely an aesthetics piece
5. Make sure you have pieces of wood (not 4 by 2s, but rectangular sticks a little thicker than matchsticks [I myself used more cardboard for this section]) 6:34
6. For the steps at 3:18, I did not follow it at all because I did not have a rubber band so small nor the capability to cut it and then re-tie such a small band. I made this larger part in one piece, with a section jutting out at the bottom to push the trigger back, and a section at the top to 'lock' or secure the rubber band for the whole retractable feature. (I haven't finished making the gun as of yet, but I will make an edit later on and mention if this step prevented the prop from working completely or not, this can be an alternate way of making it for a younger audience or an audience who doesn't have such resources).
7. The clear stuff he is using after applying PVA glue is SUPER GLUE. Be very careful using this, and I avoided using it completely due to the risk of accidentally supergluing moving components.
8. You also will need some sandpaper, because if you're like me and used scissors and a box cutter, some of the edges are messier than the others, so you can at least even it out and fine tune the prop once you've finished.
9. This requires a lot of cardboard, so around 5 or 6 shoeboxes may just be enough, I used a very large box which used to contain an edge trimmer, so I had no problem with shortages of cardboard or consistency in sizes, although this may be something you have to consider if you do choose to use shoeboxes. The creator has also mentioned in the description that he used boxes that were 1mm thick.
This is in no way meant to seem shady to the creator of the gun prop, I am simply stating things I have learnt while making this prop. I highly recommend people make this gun prop as it is a pretty cool toy, but please take note of the aforementioned points.

@@mindicationdisgrace562 You have to make sure you blades are sharp. It's always good to invest in a file and a sharpening stone. A scroll saw is a wonderful tool indeed, although it takes a a lot of practice to use

Yes! I reinforce it using super glue, it gets absorbed by the cardboard and becomes hard as rock

one tip: When cutting wood pieces (chopticks, popsicle sticks, etc..) just score where you have to cut and then just snap it, it comes out perfectly.

Caramba cara, esse processo todo me lembra muito de quando fazia minhas réplicas de armas de fogo com papelão e cartolina, as únicas diferenças é que nunca utilizei essa cola instantânea para endurecer os materiais o que teria sido muito bom em projetos mecânicos e esses refugos de caixas de sapatos tem sempre uma parte meio plastificadas onde a cola polar que utilizava demorava um pouco mais para fixar, então eu lixava um pouco para que o resultado viesse mais rápido, mas o processo todo é muito semelhante, é realmente um prazer ver alguém fazer e tão bem esse tipo de trabalho, parabéns cara e principalmente pelo revólveres .

For those who donot want to watch the whole video: This gun is basically driven by a level that is pushed by the trigger at the root to provide power to the blow-back.
10/10 for the clean cut ( trigger guard and the gun )
Even if it does not shoot, it has a cool blowback mechanism
