- Alright! I was working on this new composition for a while. Check out this electronic EWI orchestra using Audio Modeling SWAM instruments!

I met Audio Modeling at NAMM last January and was totally blown away by their SWAM instruments! I’ve never felt such responsiveness with the EWI from a modeling engine before. I decided to make a special video using a wide array of their SWAM instruments, creating a sort of a one-man orchestra using some special combinations that were possible using these great plugins.
This is my original composition, called ‘SWAMMED’. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments!

I am a Saxophone/EWI player and producer, currently composing and arranging music for various acts, ranging from Jazz, Fusion, Ethnic and World Music to Electronic Beats, Avant-Garde and Prog Rock. I love exploring new art and music and to challenge my perception of the world!

I agree, the Windcontroller does open up a whole new world of music with many new directions to utilize in your creativity
The SWAM instruments are really great. I started using them about eight months ago, mostly the trumpet in the Flugelhorn. I find them to be very realistic. I was using the Yamaha VL-70 M as a tone generator but quite honestly, the trumpet in the flugelhorn patches were really not very convincing however I did record quite a few songs on its Tenor sax and alto saxophone Voices.
Interesting! I also love the tp/flglhorn of the SWAM, there‘s something very authentic. I love combining them with synth to create a weird warm sound haha:)
Btw, try brightening up the flugelhorn sound a bit and you‘ll get a beautiful dark trumpet sound. (Kenny Wheeler style)

You are quite an amazing musician, both on saxophone and wind controller. That was a hell of a composition with some spectacular wind controller solos & fabulous technique.
Most musicians would never believe how difficult it is to truly play a wind controller and be able to play it with feeling and expression, whether it be a WX5, EWI or aerophone.

I am a former trumpet player who is now playing the WX5 Yamaha Windcontroller and I recently started working with the SWAM. instruments, which are excellent.

Abramov, Fantastic performance! I noticed that on several of the SWAM screens you have the default Keyboard loaded (1:17, 2:35, etc) instead of loading the Default Wind Controller, which I always choose with my EWI. It sounds fantastic and I am guessing that you must have set the midi settings yourself. Is there a reason for this choice?

For some reason I started messing around with some of the keyboard presets and got to a result that I liked for the video and the voicings blend.
However, usually I do use the wind controller preset for most of my productions and gigs where I play SWAM instruments
Hey man, nice job! Been following you for a bit and I noticed here in your plugin windows that you're not using the wind controller default. Any MIDI mapping tips for optimizing the SWAM Strings on the EWI 4000s from a saxophone player's perspective? Looks like you're only using the plucked Double Bass here, but curious if you've played with the other SWAM Strings!
Hey Zach, thank you very much man! So I actually used the default mapping of the plug-in for keyboard many times, somehow i like how it works with the EWI. In general, on the wind instruments I like to put the Gliss parameter on 'Expression' and transition time on 0.50, gives it more attack and real feeling in my opinion.
On the strings I like to keep the portamento and put the amount on 40. I do use also the other strings instruments here quite a lot (bowed) check out minute 2:56 for example. I really love their sound!

CIAO! serve per impedire alla saliva di scivolare verso il basso e gocciolare nei circuiti interni dell'EWI. sotto ho anche un nastro per bloccare l'intero cappuccio del bocchino. la maggior parte dei problemi con gli EWI si verificano a causa di ciò

sto utilizzando i metodi per flauto traverso che ho studiato in Conservatorio. Se esiste qualche metodo per EWI, sarei veramente soddisfatto. Ciao grazie in anticipo per la risposta!!
@@calogerorandazzo9712 Ciao Calogero, la cosa che penso sia la cosa migliore è avere un EWI 4000s o EWI 5000, e poi metterlo sulla diteggiatura del flauto (FL sullo schermo a led). dopodiché penso davvero che il miglior esercizio sia suonare le scale su tutta la gamma di 8 ottave, quindi le tue dita si abituano al meccanismo del tocco e il tuo pollice si abitua al salto di ottava. Se con questo metodo trasponi una scala maggiore in tutte le tonalità e esegui alcuni arpeggi in tutte le tonalità su tutta la gamma con un tempo medio-alto, ti sentirai molto a tuo agio con l'EWI

How is your experience playing live with the SWAM modules?
Any latency issues or laptop problems?
Also, what is the Hair Tie around the top for?

Thank you so much! and you got it really spot on:) this is one of the things that I love the most about the SWAM modules - it allows you to orchestrate and try things on the fly with a really good response and sound. It's a really good plugin and also in live performances, it never let me down and no latency at all(!). I love for example connecting the flute/bass clarinet with synth sounds, it gives them an almost 'acoustic' edge. and it's also fun to create a loop and orchestrate on the fly while playing live (i do it occasionally on my solo set).
And exactly - it's a moisture barrier on the mouthpiece and also, from my view at least, a humble gesture to the legendary Michael Brecker.

Ciao Calogero, in realtà ho trovato le diteggiature alternative che a volte uso da solo, non ho lavorato secondo un metodo di apprendimento specifico. Is it possible to control growl with EWI? I can't assign it to bite or pitch sensors.
You can create it in the new versions of SWAM, if you assign it to expression and then shape the exp curve to give you that extra edge at the end.. then you can control the growl more naturally
